Cinco De Mayo
Deeply rooted history in the Franco-Mexican War influenced Mexican-Mexican American communities in the early years of the American Civil War. In the early 1860s, as the Civil War erupted, these communities took up the banner of the Cinco De Mayo celebration as a way to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy. Today, in the United States, Americans celebrate Mexican-American heritage and pride annually on May 5th.

Just a stay at home day. Went out last night so decided to stay home now. Just felt lazy.
Cinder came back in after lunch for nap time. And she came to lay on my chest & arm all afternoon. Kisse laid at the other end of the sofa. A lazy threesome!
Got bad news today. On my second trip to Sweden i stayed with some family. And I got word to day that the father of them died last week at 97 years old. What a special man. He wrote an entire book about our family for me. He lived a long good life.
And a past school mate passed away. We were not friends just in school together. Sounds like he had a great life.
Some good news. Photos of my mom's cousin & his wife on their 61st wedding anniversary. Always nice to see photos of them. I think of one them is in a asisted care home. She is from Thailand. Her husband was in the peace corp & met her & married her. Very cool. Wish we all lived closer. Too far away to travel to see each other.
I remember when Mom could not see her sisters in Denver anymore & I always thought how sad that was. And here I am. I remember when her one sister was dying & she begged me to take her there so they could see each other. There was no way for me to take her there. She could not walk or dress herself. She got so angry & begged & begged. Difficult. Same now for me with cousins there. One still travels but none of the others do. We are lost to each other. Thank goodness for FB & email.
Weather was calm today. Not overly warm. Severe weather warnings for tomorrow but the weather made it look like not much for here. Or here late afternoon. Good. I start treatment on my hip tomorrow. Prefer not to drive in storms. Then after tomorrow a long dry spell. Nothing new there.
