National Sunflower Day

I added 2 photos today as I love sunflowers.  It is the state flower of Kansas.  Only the first is one I took years ago.

Today's Name Day: Tage

    Another rather quiet day.  I am still suffering from an RA flare.  Extra tired today but got a nice nap.  I even slept good last night.

    My meal orders were delivered this morning,  Easy to get it all in the house.  Just fill a bag & carry in.  Had a good lunch then ---- scrambled eggs with maple bacon.  Liked it.  Supper was ok too.  Ham, roll, sun chips, & butterscotch pudding cup.  I am full.  And maybe a chocolate croissant later.

    I had started to work on my blog after lunch but I could not keep my eyes open.  Love RA.  😞 Had a good nap.  Feel better now.  Still pains everywhere.

    Had a few shared photos from my grandsons.  I am excited that my 2 oldest great grandsons are living in Lindsborg this school year & attending school here.  Great!!!  They are getting enrolled now.  Hope I get to see them more often.

    Weather is so-so.  High was 95 with very low humidity.  No chance of rain. Of course.  Hotter tomorrow,  100 is forecast.  Ick.  Still no rain until later in the week.

    Cinder was in for a bit but just wanted back out.  Soon bedtime.

National Drink Beer Day

Today's Name Day is Lennart, Leonard

    Today is much better than yesterday.  Nico got ill last evening.  He had diarrhea.  Always in the house.  What a mess!  When we went to bed he could not lay still.  He felt bad.  Cats laid near us.  He finally calmed down & slept.  I quietly turned off the lights so we all could sleep.  I felt to so bad for him.  If he stayed sick we would go see the vet.

    I had a dr. appt in Wichita that I decided to cancel.  Just did not dare leave him alone.  But he was ok today.  Just in to everything.  Awful tonight.  Got into some food stuff & so I gave him nothing of what I ate.  Need to always do that.  He survived but not happy!

    One cat has figured out to eat in the kitchen behind a baby gate.  The other not a clue.  I fed her in the usual place but I guarded her.  Then moved the food away where Nico could not get to it.  I have left her some outside too.  So far ok.

    Weather sucked today.  I saw 95.  Awful.  It felt hot this morning.  Some wind but wind gets bad tomorrow & the weekend.  So now we are in a fire warning.  The news is full of what not to do in the wind & dry grasses.  But there is always someone throwing a cigaret out a car window.  Or sparks from machinery.  I hope for the best.

National When Pigs Fly Day

I found photos of great artist friend, Eric Abraham, in my memories today.  He was an old hippy!!  And he had a thing for flying pigs.  Had a flying pig on his car.  Wish I could find a photo of it!  This is in his honor today!

    Today was just quiet & restful.  I was surprised to wake up with Nico curled up close to my back & Cinder curled up by my head.  She usually prefers to lay on my left side but was on my right side this morning.  So nice to feel loved!

    I made a quick trip to Salina to pick up groceries.  Great to have food again!  I ordered one kind of cake & ended up with 2 kinds of cake, 2 pieces of each.  No complaints here!!!  Got several tv dinners again.  I prefer Marie Callandar.  Taste the best to me & I do not have to cook.

    I have looked at some of the mail order meals.  One kind only sends you what you need & then you have to cook.  Not me.  Too lazy.  I cooked for too many years.  And at harvest I cooked for as many as 10 or more guys.  No more for me.

    I did find on Amazon Pepsi made with sugar.  No chemicals.  Works for me.  Dillons does not have them.

    Weather is good.  Saw a high of only 91F.  The sky looked clearer this morning but I am still coughing.  Rain in west Kansas.  Then here tomorrow.  IF they correct.  I am trying not to be too hopeful.  And much cooler this week.  Much more autumn like! 😍

    I bought a new litter pan for the cats.  Now to set it up.  Still on the porch.  And new kitty litter.  Hope it is better than what I have now.

Todays Name Day is Tage

    Mostly a quiet day with little sleep.  Thanks to Nico & Cinder.  I managed to sleep in the morning & a short nap.

    I am worried about Nico.  He acts like he is getting senile.  Sometimes he cannot jump on the sofa or bed.  And once last nite he just had to go out.  We there & he just stands & looks blank.  Does nothing.  Odd.

    Today was JR's birthday.  We were going to Pizza Hut but I said something about Hong Kong Buffet & he said we could go there.  I was surprised!  I had not been there since before the Pandemic.  A long time ago.  He has never been there.  It was as good as ever!  Loved it.  I could have eaten twice as much but with my touchy stomach I did not dare.  But I had egg drop soup, sesame chicken, & my fave dessert.  Perfect.  And JR said we can go back anytime.  He loved it.  Great!!

    After we ate JR carried out 4 large bags of trash for me.  I still have two more to do but that will be tomorrow.  Nice to have some help. 

    TV sucks tonight.  I am watching some NatGeo things on demand about Egypt.  Not paying a lot of attention, but there were some cool photos I took from it.

01 july, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    I am not going to do a true blog.  Today my best friend gets married.  Just posting things about that & weddings in general. 

    Good weather here for a change.  Only 86F today & rain last night.  But the wedding site is at 98F.  Too hot!  We actually had a brief shower this afteroon.  Temp dropped to 69F.  Really nice.

    Just a day of rest for me.  Heard from both grandsons.  Miss them.  JS video chatted with me & SM was there.  He may call again.  I hope so.

Later:

    They both called later.  Getting thier suits on.  Both looking handsome!  After they hung up I cried for a bit.  Partly for happiness, partly feeling sorry for me not being there.

    Later JS posted some wedding photos.  Really nice ones!  Lots of nice comments from SM's family.  Good thing.

    Photos are just wedding stuff I like.  The collage is flowers from their wedding.  Love the sunflowers!

National Strawberry Parfait Day

    Slept ok last night.  The awful hip/leg pain I had for a couple of days was gone.  Great!  Felt better all day.  Had a nice nap in the afternoon.

    What a shock.  I had a text from JS when I got up today.  I wrote him 2 days ago & was ignored until today.  It hurts.  But this is not the first good friend I have lost to them moving away.  And it always goes sort of the same way.  They always say "we will always be in touch", ad nauseum.  But the truth is they move on to a wonderful life & new friends/family.  They are busy & happy.  They forget.  I am stuck here in the same old, same old life & miss them but it does not matter.  It hurts me but not them.

    Much less humidity today.  Nice to be outside.  BUT.  Tonight after getting home I did not stay out long.  Mosquitoes.  I sprayed around where I sat but they were still there.  Better in.  Hate summer.

    JR & I had supper at Pizza Hut.  Good pizza.  Then a cherry SnoCone for dessert.  Awesome!

    My left wrist is swollen.  That is not RA.  It is osteoarthritis.  And it hurts at times.  If it gets really bad I can have an injection.  Thinking about it.  Not constant pain yet.  And there is a wrist brace I can order that might help.  Going to check that out.
