Today's Name Day is Elsa

    A quiet & nice day.  Slept good last night & had a partial nap today.  I have just been friends with Nico, no trying to push anything.  I am done.  Should have never went on this far.  Called to make a vet app't but of course the vet is out of town, back a little on Thursday & gone on Friday.  Nice.  Ridiculous.

    It really got cold last night. I saw 21F.  Colder tonight! The high was 45f.  Very nice outside.  I left Nico out for a while while I carried trash to the bins.  And boxes.  Good to be done.  And Nico got some fresh air.  While he supervised my work!!!

    The sun was out this morning.  Nice to see the glittering waves on my pond.  So pretty.  Forgot my camera in the house.  Maybe tomorrow!

    I have been trying to learn new things on my phone.  And writing them down so I do not forget!!  I use my Remarkable 2 for everything!

18 may, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Had a good day.  Slept good.  Fur kids have been good.

    I spent the majority of the afternoon adding photos to my genealogy & adding people.  A lady wanted to join by family group & she listed 2 people who are sisters.  One of my relatives & one of from her family.  I had them both in my family but they are not very close relatives.  They are in my father's family.  So I added a few people & some photos.  I am addicted.

    There is rain near us but will it miss us?  Time will tell.  I have little confidence.  And we are to have stronger winds tomorrow.  I have my straps on my trash bins.  They may tip but they will not open.

    With the cold front approaching, my joints sure feel it.  Hard to sleep last night.  I could not get comfy but then Nico would want to go out & walking was a challenge.  Kind of still is.

    Today my injured toe is so much better.  No swelling or redness or bleeding.  I can wear shoes just fine.  I stayed home today.  Supper out tomorrow.  I am so ready.  Plus I must go to my pharmacy.  Meds are ready to pick up.

    Exciting times at The Old Mill.  We have been granted a quarter of a million dollar grant from a group here in Kansas.  They want to help all who were hurt by the pandemic.  That grant is so needed.  Be exciting to see the changes that will be made.  We have a Swedish building as part of our grounds.  It is in sad shape.  Needs new windows.  The paint is in bad shape, so a new paint job.  And they will change it back to the original color it was.  Plus some improvements to the Mill & better security of the grounds.

17 may, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Still have a bad toe.  Has not bled today.  It is sore & swollen.  But it is not hot to touch.  Wearing only socks except when I gathered trash to carry out.  Then put on shoes.  My Amazon mail today had dog/cat food.  Takes up a lot of space.  So I had several boxes to empty & flatten.  

    Fur kids were outside playing or resting.  Very nice out.  They like to be out.  Wish Nico would stay in the yard so he would not need a leash.  Too many dangerous animals, etc. out there.  And he runs where I cannot see him.

    Rain forecast for tomorrow starting in the afternoon.  Not holding breath.  Glad the west & SW are getting lots of rain.  They need it more than here.

    Slept ok.  And had a short nap.  Today was a half Jammie Day.  Got dressed when I was outside working..  I did not work today or go out to eat.  I limp bad enough with my RA.  Good to rest.  Home tomorrow but hope to get out on friday.  Need meds.

    Worked on my genealogy photos again.  Found my dad's side of my family.  Lots of photos.  There is one photo of my grandpa laughing & I can just hear him.  Great laugh.  Lots of photos of my grandma.  Both my grandmas died when I was around 3-4 years old.  No memories of either.  How I wish I had them.  If just one had lived my life would have been different.  Would have been great to have someone on my side.  Did not happen then & barely happens now.  My life.

    More flower photos & more.  Need to find some new ones in town to photograph.

                    

15 may, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    It started raining yesterday afternoon & rained off & on all night.  Emptied my rain gauge this afternoon when the radar was clear.  I had an inch in it!  I need a new one as some numbers are worn off.  Think I might have one somewhere.

    Had no plans today.  Or minor ones.  I ended up just staying home.  Did lots of work on my genealogy.  Adding more photos.  Fun to just take time for that.  I found photos of my fave cousin from when he graduated from high school.  We were so close until our fathers had a major falling out & they moved away.  I sure missed him.  As an adult he came to my farm for pheasant hunting season every year.  We always had a nice visit.  He died in a car crash when we were 26 years old.  Still miss him.  He had a wife & daughter but have never been close to me.  They were not interested in family.  Their loss.  Our parents did make up later in life.  I am glad for that.  His death pulled them together again.

    Took some trash out today.  Not much.  Too wet.  No energy.  Or as a blogger with fibromyalgia says "no spoons".  She says people with chronic pain & sickness have just so many spoons they are given each morning.  When the spoons are gone, you are done.  Rather accurate way to think.

    Home again tomorrow.  Need to go to town, but will see how I feel.

11 may, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Slept OK.  No rain here overnight.  Severe storms to the west again this afternoon but we got nothing again.  They kept forecasting severe weather & had me almost scared then nothing here.

    Had my monthly hair app't.  Today I got cut, colored, & styled.  A different style.  I like it.  See how it does sleeping on it.  Hoping for the best.

    Not much else today.  I was moving slow again today.  Took a nap when I got home.  Feel better.

    We continue to have multiple moths around my porch.  I turn NO lights on in the dark.  They are horrible.  It is called an eclipse of moths.  Yuck.  Will be here another couple of weeks.  Then they die or head west.  Why wait!?  Head west now!!

    Added more photos to my genealogy.  Some I cannot find.  Dang.  May turn up later.

02 may, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Just a quiet day.  Had a little trouble sleeping last night.  Willie was on my mind.  Kept me awake.  We should have had time to just enjoy life. 

    Nice weather today.  High was 71F & low was 36F.  No wind.  Change is coming.  More breeze.  Maybe rain.

    Nico & I took a nice nap.  He has a habit of waking me halfway through but not today.  Nice.

    Then I forced myself to shampoo my hair.  It went good.  And dried easy.  Soon to have my hair colored.

    I have a dress I thought was so cute in the catalogue but when I got it I hated it.  But today I have it on.  Comfy but sure glad I have no close neighbours!!  Or anyone coming to the door!!  Awful!

    Supper is not sitting good on my tummy.  Hope it just goes away.  I ate something that should not have bothered me but it sure has.  Will donate it to the wild life here.  Not Nico.

01 may, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    May is finally here.  Closer to winter!!   Warm today - 71F but 32F last night.  No breeze at all.  Nice outside.  Sat out with Nico & Cinder this evening.  Very pleasant.

    Slept ok last night.  Cinder was extra snuggly.  Wonder why?  She was the other night also.  Very nice.

    Nico went to the animal hospital this afternoon to have his nails clipped.  I was way late to have them done!!  He minds so good there.  Why not at home??

    Then JR & I had pizza at Pizza Hut.  It was extra good tonight.  Different crust & lots of cheese.  We did have one very funny moment.  I unrolled my napkin to get my fork.  But to my surprise I had no fork but 4 knives!  What a hoot!  Our waiter thought he had given us silverware which he did.  But someone had just one job to do.......  He was glad we laughed.  He said some people would not have laughed.  Then glad it happened to us.  There is a photo to show them later!  Made my day!

    Got home & put Nico & Cinder out.  They did not have a lot of energy to play.  Probably too warm.  But the liked to see each other.

    I have trash pick up tomorrow.  I carried out 5 bags full.  Only one was heavy.  No problem.  I rested outside between loads & after I was done.

    House got too warm.  AC on now.  Feeling better.  Could not sleep at night if it was this warm.  Cold is better.

    Our world is such a mess.  Five killed in Texas, 6 bodies found in Oklahoma, dust storm with deaths, tornados, & what next?  I am grateful for calmness here.
