08/2025 - Martes the 5th - JOURNEY

 

Ljusnan River in central Sweden.  Cousins live near the river in Hälsisngland.  They own the beach.  On the dock is my cousin.  Now an adult.

    Had a bad night.  I had little sleep although I felt ok today.

    I had a hair appt in Salina.  No clue how to get there.  Paved road to Salina was closed to replace a culvert.  Could not get on Interstate due to a missing bridge over the interstate.  There was a road near me I thought would go all the way to Hiway 4.  Wrong.  I finally found the Smolan Road.  Coming home I took interstate then go on the Falun Road.  For a while it was ok.  Then it was closed do to replacing another culvert.  I went out of my way & got back to the Falun Road.  But I did see that the road to Lindsborg is now open.  Will save me time going to work.  Yay!!

    MM two oldest sons got home today.  My great grandsons.  Got a video message from the oldest. Very special.  Have it saved. 

    MM had an awful family loss last night in ICT.  Scary with the kids there.  I feel really awful for the family.  Glad he does not live there anymore.  Not safe at all.

    Warmer today but quite cool overnight.  Warmer each day through friday almost up to 100F.  Then cooler & maybe rain next weekend.

    Missed trash day today so I need to feel better to get trash out to the bins.  Wish I had backup.  None for me.  I am sooo tired of summer.  I hate the heat, humidity, & bugs.

Photos from Sweden.  First one is me at a crayfish party, next is me with a statue of a snaphaunce or highway man.  He was explained to me when I was there.  The third is me & a rune stone in a pasture.  Owner built a way to walk over the ditch to stand by it. And the last photo is me standing on the borders of Norway & Sweden.  Think we ate lunch across the street.  And our first experience with hamburgers in Sweden.  Not like here.  They all have thousand island dressing on them.  Very good.

05/2025 Onsdag the 13th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Today's Name Day:  Linn, Linnea

I have known a couple of Linns.  One was a neighbour when I was a child.  He was murdered when in college.  Sad.  I have a cousin whose name is Linnea.  She turns 9 years old tomorrow.  I wrote her mom to tell her about her Name Day.  She was excited!

    Today was a bit better but not good.  My blood sugar is still not doing ok.  I sent a message to my doctor.  Hope she has some ideas what to do.

    I  cancelled all of today.  Supposed to have lunch out & a historical board meeting.  I sent an email to one of those in charge of the board but heard nothing back.  No surprise.  I also let LL know also.  I doubt I make it to work tomorrow.

    Another hot day.  I stayed inside mostly.  Tomorrow is really hot!!  The highest temp in history here for tomorrow is 101!!  We had no chance of breaking that record!!  Whew!!!!  That was set in the 1940s.  We will be over 90 though.

    I did see KN in is largest tractor drive by my house pullling a huge piece of farming equipment.  He was followed by his son CN in a 4 wheeler.

003/2025 Tisdag the 11th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Photo of the Lindsborg High School basketball team in March 11, 1966 when we won the state tourny in Emporia KS.  The tall young man in the back row made the  winning goal just as the game ended.  I was there!!!

Today's Name Day:  Edvin, Egon

    Day did not start good.  Awake all night & got up to the sofa at 6am.  Fell asleep around 7am.  Slept until 12noon.  Napped with my kits in the bedroom from 1pm till 4pm. 

    Started my day around 730am with a photo of MM & AM.  Great way to start my day.

    Less pain today & tonight my knee is painfree.

    Got a text from my grandson CF.  I got really worried about what he was saying,  I sent a long response,  Not going to explain what he or I wrote.  Later he phoned me.  We had a good chat.  I am truly worried about him.  He has some big changes coming in his life.  Hope it all works out.  Adding him to my prayer list again.

    Talked on the phone to MM & to JR.  Things to discuss & share.

    Thank goodness we did not reach 85 again today.  Hate summer.  Even had a fly in my house.  Great.  Starting early.  Hate bugs.  Today we were 72 & 36.  Big nice change.  This weekend a strong front is coming here.  We won't get anything but strong winds.  No rain.  It goes north & east.  We always lose out. 😞

    Had a good supper.  Pancakes & orange juice.  Good to have something different.  Cinder is licking up my leftover syrup & butter.  Weird cat!!

    No cattle or llamas today.  Maybe I missed them.

02/2025 Måndadag the 10th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Today's Name Day: Eugenia

    A good day.  Slept good but really sore back.  I can tell the weather is changing.  No snow on the radar yet.  I would feel better if there was.  Maybe.

    On the way to town for supper I stopped at the Cemetery to check on Willie, & 2 others close to me.  I always talk to Willie going to town & going home.  I assume he can hear me.  Glad all looks well there.  I can never be sure.

    Picked up JR & went to Jalisco's.  Good to see them all.  i had one burrito to eat there & one to take home.  Good lunch tomorrow.  Preparing for snow.  Hoping to work this week at least twice.  Hoping. 😞

    Jalisco's was pretty quiet.  Usual monday.  Town was quiet.  But most restaurants are closed on mondays.  Worst day to eat out.

    After supper JR needed to go to the grocery store.  I really did not need to go but I wanted more cake & I got two small cakes.  Lots of frosting, cake & strawberries.  Perfect.  Will help in the blizzard!!!  That is my excuse & I am not changing it!!!

    I had few texts or emails today.  JS texted me before he went to sleep.  He can read my answer tomorrow.  Nothing big.  I am home for several days & he should call me when he can.
