Candlemas

Today's Name Day:  (no name today)

    Had a pretty good day.  Slept good with lots of cuddles.  Always good.  Did not get a nap today.  Too busy.

    I cleaned out my fridge last night.  Long overdue.  So I wanted to carry the heavy trash bag outside before the rain starts.  It cannot stay inside.  Too much old food.  Would not be pleasant.  And I had to strap the lid on the trash bin down.  Trust me the raccoons can tip a trash bin over & make one hell of a mess.  Only let that happen once!!

    Then I called JS for a video call.  I got a tour of his new house & all the many fish tanks they have.  Very large tanks.  Be fun to have one in my bedroom to look at in the dark.  Had a friend that had a salt water tank.  Awesome.  Those fish are just gorgeous!

    Then it took me a while to look human again.  I sort of succeeded!!  😊

    While doing my makeup I heard some large equipment outside.  Bless my heart it was KN fixing where I got stuck near my car port with rocks.  I feel so guilty but super thankful!  He put some on the west side of my circle drive & way down in my drive in a low spot.  And he needed rock near a couple of gates too.  I have my drive way back!!!  I went out & we chatted for a while.  And I had a huge bag of dog food I gave to him & some treats that Nico had.  

    God, I miss Nico.  He was always in our bedroom window waiting for me to get home.  I am going to print a large photo of him to put in the window & leave the light on when I am gone.  Comforting.  He & Paco are buried near each other.  I talk to both once in a while.  Our dog Jo is straight south of my house across the drive.

    Supper was at Crown & Rye.  I had my heart set on salmon with mustard sauce.  It is too die for.  The best.  Olive Garden has a great salmon also.

    We walked next door to Indigo Moo'd for ice cream.  Perfect.

    When I got home I remembered I forgot to clean the litter box.  Cinder was at the door ready to go out.  It is clean now.  Need to see if she wants in yet.

National Irish Coffee Day

Today's Name Day: Pål, Paul

    Had a fine day mostly.  No fatigue today.  I am glad.  No nap today.  But pain is increasing.  My left hand is awful..  Makes lifting or pouring or drinking.  Even using a roll on pain cream if difficult with my left hand.

    I was up early to get ready for lunch with LL.  We had Swedish pancakes at the Crown & Rye.  Excellent!  They are almost as good as the ones I used to make.  Had a good visit.  And a little gossip!! 😀

    I had an appointment this afternoon that I cancelled.  Hurting too much.  Worried about eating & then having a meeting.  Felt better just cancelling.  I asked to reschedule.  He usually does an entire year in advance, but did not this year.  Have I pissed him off?  Just what I need!!  Hope not.

    It was foggy this morning & drizzly.  My drive way is a muddy mess!!  So is the road by my  house.  My car is a mess.  Hate to be anywhere near it!!  Yuck!!

    The stupid mail person over filled my mail box & left the door open so my mail got wet.  Lazy.  No need to complain.  They would just get worse to me.

    Heard from MM early today.  They look a mess there in Iowa, but they are 10 degrees warmer!  He fell last night so was a bit sore.  Must be better today.

    Dirty old snow is ugly.  All the way to town the snow in the ditches is barely white.  Has large dark dirty patches.  Needs to just warm up & melt away.  Then I can wash my car!

    Parking in town is awful.  Combination of snow, slush, mud & sometimes deep water before getting to the curb.  Hard to get from my car to the side walk.  Did not dare wear any decent shoes but left my furry boots at home.  Not cold enough.

    Cinder has not gone outside yet today.  Odd.  I even offered her an open door.  Kisse curled up next to me for a long time this afternoon.  Cinder snuggled for a long time in bed last night.

19 December, 2022 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    A quiet day & not too cold.  Soon to end.  We are in a winter storm watch from wednesday evening through thursday afternoon.  And a wind chill watch from late wednesday through friday morning. Wind chill can reach as low as -40 (40 below zero).  We can get 2 inches of snow & blowing snow.  I am homebound from wednesday night to sunday morning.  Be far too cold to be out on the roads.  The highs get not too far from 1F.  Be my luck between town & home my car engine would freeze.  And there I would sit.  Better to stay home.

    I made a run to town to go to the bank.  Then I was early for my next stop so I just sat on Main Street & watched people & traffic.  It was peaceful.  I needed a moment of peace.  Don't always get it at home.  (Only had to get up twice so far while writing tonight.  So far.)  I could have went somewhere for coffee but quiet was nice.

    Picked up JR & we went to eat supper.  Stopped at the Crown & Rye.  I wanted Swedish pancakes.  They were very good.  But mine are better.  Mine should be.  I have made them for 50 years!!  No recipe.  I just do what Mom & Dad did.  My grandson wanted my recipe so I tried to describe what I do & how much I thought things were.  He made them the other night & said they were really good.  I always made a large bowl full so I had batter for 3 days.  One day was never enough!!  We always put butter & sugar on ours & rolled them up.

    Then JR got some groceries for me & him.  Hope mine last through the cold days.  Should be ok.

    With the cold temps & high winds have to leave my water dripping & hope the pipes do not freeze.  That is awful.  Makes me nervous just to think of it.

    Have yet to go look at Christmas lights.  Maybe after Christmas.  My heart is not in it this year.  Missing Mom & Willie too much.  And the lack of family to be with or friends to be with makes it worse.  But it is my life.  Do not see it changing.  I tried to make a new friend but we did not click.  I have acquaintances but they all have family & friends.  I do not fit anywhere.

Sheltering in Place, Mood Of Silence, Day 275....

 We got extremely cold last night. It was 16 F again. Then snow started at 1 pm. By 2 pm heavy snow. One phone app does Slo-Mo videos. Awesome!

Had therapy with KF. I had a crystal to give her. And information about it. So we talked about crystals and jewelry. Then about a group of co-workers at the hospital I worked with. From several different departments. No nurses. Most nurses I worked with were not friends with me. I was not quite good enough. They were "real" nurses, unlike me. Oh, what fun we had! After work we went for cocktails, supper, and dancing. Life was so much fun. Now? Not so much. I miss those times and those people. Then KF and I remembered we have the same birthday. Fun.

I picked up JR. We drove to my house and I did his laundry. When we left my house the roads were icy. It was time for JS to go home so I called to warn him. He got home fine.

JR and I ate at Crown and Rye. I had a beef focaccia. To die for!! Roads still very icy. Slow going. Snow stopped.

At home Kitty is strange. Maybe because JR was here.. Who can know?

Photos are Christmas again. My only Christmas activity. No family dinners. No big dinners with Willie's boss and co-workers. Those were fun too. Where did all the fun go?

Sheltering in Place, Mood Of Silence, Day 231......

Surprise! I slept last night. Took a half anxiety pill. A fluke or will it mostly work?

Last night JR and I had burgers at our Mexican restaurant. Good burgers. Was the only place in town to get a burger but I think the new restaurant, Crown and Rye, has burgers. Not eaten there yet but photos look good and I hear good things from those who have eaten there. 

After supper last night JR and I watched a movie, In Her Shoes. It was really good. Liked it a lot. Not scary or political. Nice break.

Nice weather for a few days and for the rest of the week. Be in the 70s and not a chance for rain. Next week is colder and possibly wet. I teased JS when we had snow and rain forecast last week that they predicted 3 inches of ice on the roads. I need to remember that we do not always remember or recognise when one of us is joking. He believed me and told his coworkers that. I had an entire shift of workers scared! No idea had such power!

Today JR and I had lunch at Jalisco's. They were pleasantly busy with lots of take out meals. Had time to chat with the help. 

There have been so many automobile damages and theft that our county had a "line" call to almost every one or/plus an email of warning. I keep my porch light on all night. Stupid people. No respect for others.

Photos today are a combination of Day of the Dead, Halloween, Sweden's All Saints Day, and some flowers. And photo of a tractor in a tractor pull. We had 2 friends with pulling tractors. We rarely missed a tractor pull. Brought back some good memories when life was fun.
