National French Toast Day

Name Day is Malte

Today was mostly a good day.   I even got a nap.   Very nice.   Even Nico napped.   He was in bed for a while too.
I ordered groceries for after lunch.   Then to carry it all in & put it away.   I enjoyed driving to Salina & seeing the fields white with snow,   Hope it is not the last of the snow.
I had an appointment in Wichita but cancelled it yesterday.   They had more snow than we did.   And they had ice & we had none.   Last night the weatherman said they had a little thawing yesterday.   There would be more today but in late afternoon.   Means there was still icy streets.   Glad to stay home.   Not an important X-ray.   Better to cancel than be nervous driving in the city.
Got really cold last night again but in the 40s today.   It was sunny today but no sparkling pond.   It is frozen.   Probably not safe to walk on though.
I actually got a large load of laundry done.   Put it off long enough.   When it is all dry I can do another.   I hang my laundry inside to dry.   No clothes line. l  And just rarely use my dryer.   Mom had a clothes line that I could have had out here but no one would put it in my yard.   Willie refused & so did our son.
I got called to work a couple of hours at the Red Barn Museum, my old stomping ground.   I just remind people to sign our guest book.   Will be fun to be around lots of people.   I was a docent there for several years.   I worked until I had knee surgery.   And then my RA got worse.
Did sit outside for a bit with Nico & Cinder.   Have a breeze that is a bit chilly.   But nice to watch them together.
Photos are Christmas.   And 2 are even mine.

20 november, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

Today was a fun day.  Nice to have a good day!!!  My fave kind of weather ---- cool, calm, foggy, rainy.   Perfect.

I was up early to get dressed & run to Salina to pick up groceries. Then back home to feed & potty the fur kids.

I drove to Lindsborg on the country roads.  I am done with them.   The dust was scary after dark & today was muddy.   I saw where one car went in the ditch.  And the maintainer man was blading the road ---- in the rain.   Huh???  Went home by the highway.   And you should see my car!!   It is a sheet of mud.  Awful.  I got fuel & prayed I did not touch the car with my sweater!

I met my friend from work for lunch at the White Peacock.  Great food & good conversation.  I am not working this week & she is not at work so I could not work any way.

Back home briefly to take care of the kids.   Then back to Lindsborg for supper at Jalisco's with JR.  Good food.   And time to visit with a couple of workers.   After eating I went home on the highway.

It started raining a day ago.   And been wet ever since ---- from drizzle to fog to rain.   I love it!!!  We had maybe two thirds inch of rain so far.  Will end tonight.   They had snow forecast the week after Thanksgiving.  Then they took it out.  Maybe back in again.  Too far in the future to be correct.

Photos are seasonal.  Some are from here & some from the Red Barn museum.  The first photo here was not taken today but that is how it has looked here today.

09 november, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

 Today's Name Day is Teodor

This morning was ok but this afternoon was not.  Difficult times for me plus a change in the weather is attacking my body.

Cannot write today.  My mind is whirling.  No need to complain.  Told I should be used to this.  I am tired of being alone with no support other than it is what it is.  FML.

Photos are of our cattle.  One shows how much dust there is when someone drives down our road.

T.V. Talk Show Host Day
My faves were Jack Pear, Johnny Carson, David Letterman, & Stephen Colbert

Today's Name Day is Sören

Really good day!!  Slept so-so.  Up early to go to Salina to get groceries.  Good to have food again.  The bread I got is questionable.  Time will tell!
This afternoon I met my friend from upstate New York.  I missed her while I was sick but today was good.  Long visit at the White Peacock.  Ordered peach green tea iced.  It was perfect.
Then I went to my bank, my pharmacy, & the car wash.  Picked up JR then & brought him home with me.  Added my new sticker to my car tag & carried a large bag of dog food in for me.  Nico will hate it.  What a waste!!
We went back to town for supper at Jalisco's.  I have truly missed them.  One of at the new workers even made a point of saying hi to me & even called me by name.  Supper was good.  Sharing a photo of the ice cream we had.  Mmmm.  Actually JR's bowl.  mine was smaller.

When I got home I took some star photos.  Only one turned out good.  Sharing.
Photos today are from this afternoon.

03 august, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

Slept so-so.  Not bad.  Had to be up early.  Cinder cuddled with me for a while.  Nice.

Today I had my hair trimmed & styled.  Nice to be pampered.  Just seeing Henry is good.  Such a nice person.  Will look good for a few days!

After my hair, I went to Dillons to pick up groceries.  They almost always have what I want or they offer a substitute & I chose if I want it or not.  Better than ordering 3 bags of food but only getting 1 bag.

Last night after going to bed I could see lightning SW of me.  It kept moving & was over my house.  And moved on.  I could see distant flashes for hours.  With all that, we got nary a drop of rain.  Then this morning we had a tiny shower.  Plus on the way home from Salina there was rain in Assaria, but not where I live.  Tonight chance of severe storms.  Nothing yet.

Cooler today.  Only 92F.  It was pleasant out a while ago.  Nice breeze.  They said the super hot weather is not going to be here next week.  I hope they are correct.

Heard from no one today.  Not even my grandsons.  Busy I guess.  My oldest great grandson has a birthday today.  Busy with him.

Photos today were taken by me wherever I went.  Sharing a photo of Nico sleeping just now.  Cute pose.

Sheltering in Place, Mood Of Silence, Day 255....

I am so shocked. We had rain. Lots of rain!! 2.75". Awesome!!! Roads are ok. Thank goodness.

No sleep again. But after 6am I can sleep like a baby!!! Why?

I had groceries ordered at Dillons for 4pm. Got there around 420pm. How grateful I am that I did not have to actually go in. The parking lot was full to almost overflowing.  Glad I was not inside. Could have been a den of Covid. I am mostly terrified anymore. They quickly run my food out and are excellent let you know what they do not have an offer a substitute.

Then I went to Lindsborg and got my brother. We debated where to eat and chose Jalisco like usual. They were unusually slow. But so was Crown and Rye. The entire town was dead. Still quite a few take out orders.

It amazes me that 4 people came in with no masks. One guy is in often and I have never seen him wear a mask. We are never going to gain on Covid if we do not do what works. And a vaccine is not then end all be all. It will still attack those who refuse. I read many will refuse. And I may not have the chance to get it. Way far down the line. No hope here.

I had a phone call yesterday that a friend has been exposed to Covid. This friend is ok now. Hope that lasts. I am a bit upset. And a couple other friends I have heard have it. Not good.

Photos are all from tonight except the tree. I just like the photo.
