03 may, 2022 Wandering

    Today was an ok day.  Nice weather. Calm winds.  The severe weather south of here last night was just rain & hail.  No tornado.  Has delayed recovery from the other tornado.  We have rain starting tomorrow then through thursday.  We might get 2 inches.  Might.  Not sure that will even help our wheat.  Just too dry & too late.  Very sad.

    It was really cold in the house last night.  I finally moved to the sofa & my heater.  Then all was well.  Stayed in bed most of the night.  I know it was chilly as Nico never was on top of my blankets.  Always underneath.  Even Kisse laid on my bed a couple of times.  A little warmer today.

    Late this afternoon I had Nico outside and he had a fit  He saw my nephew here with his wife, children, 2 four wheelers, & pickup.  He was moving all the cattle in our north pasture, then through my front yard, & into the south pasture.  Does not always go well but today was great.  I sat on my porch & took some photos.  Fun to see them all!  Nico was in the house instead outside wrecking havoc everywhere!!  I have 2 photos I will share.  One of a lot of cattle in my yard & the other of a tiny calf.  I will miss having the cattle here.  But they all go out to pasture for the summer.

    Today I had groceries to pick up.  And I got all I ordered.  I got some orange soda.  Found out I feel better by not drinking so much Pepsi.  Plan to keep that up.  I needed a loaf of bread.  I had a partial one in the fridge but it was not good.  Too hard.  And out of lunch meat.  Tonight I feasted on Swedish meatballs over noodles & I added lingonberries.  And ended with a Ding Dong.  Mmmm.

02 may, 2022 Wandering

    Had an unventful day today.  Cold outside so I have had my room heater on all day.  We have had rain/mist.  Not much.  Normal for here.

    Tonight there are severe storms in the area of where the tornado hit the other night.  Poor people.  Only heard there is hail but no tornado.

    When I got up today Cinder was not to be found.  So the rest of us ate lunch then I brought food out to here.  And called for her.  No Cinder.  Later I looked out & the food was gone and she was there.  I think maybe she was sleeping soundly.  One time when I was out during the night she was curled up on one of her favorite areas and she was sound asleep & never looked at us.  I talked to her but she just slept.

    Have some wind here today.  Nothing severe.  I needed to take trash outside but my back said NO very loudly.  It either gets better or I call a chiropractor.  Hate to do that.  Medicare does not cover.  So kind of them.

    I ordered a small amount of groceries tonight.  The app for our local store just drives me crazy.  I wanted lunch meat.  I specified what kind.  Never came up.  All sorts of house cleaning things, etc showed up but not my lunch meat.  I wanted orange soda but all I got was orange cleaning/soaps.  Duh.  I may have go back to Dillons.  And every time I use the app it has changed.  Not for the better.  Things they no longer carry never get deleted.  Grrrrr!

    Not seen anyone or talked to anyone.  I hope to hear from my friend who had a surgical procedure.  He has had some swelling.  That is normal.  Last night he looked much better than earlier in the day.

    I passed another level in Spanish.  I missed so many I would not have let me move up a level!!  But every question you miss you get asked again & again until you get it right.  Really difficult for me when I cannot see well.  My eyes are better but I still cannot see clearly.  Maybe this is as good as it will get.  But I moved up a level.  Started reading a story every day.  They use words that are new & make me laugh.  They are cute.

    I forgot my friend in Morocco texted me.  He has worked on his website and wanted my opinion.  Looked great.  He did a great job!  He tries so hard.  Hope things get better.  Few customers who traveled during the pandemic.

    I had an ok day.  Slept well but still in pain.  Always for me.  Does not help my mood.  Fur kids have been ok.  Even Nico!!  He is a trouble maker sometimes.

    I want to share something I have signed up for called Letters From Afar.  They have different subjects & I signed up for places around the world.  You get a letter from someone traveling.  No one real but it is interesting.

    I just got my first letter from "Isabelle."  The first stop for her was in Cambodia.  I know next to nothing about there.  She wrote a long letter relating all she saw & did.  There was a saying in their language saying "Kindness is true power."  Their language is called Khmer.  I plan to add it to my email to see if anyone can figure it out!  She wrote about silk worms and how silk is made, elephants, temple ruins covered with huge tree roots over them.  The temples are 700 years old.  And so are the trees.  And she added a map of Cambodia.  I am adding a photo of the saying.

    Her second place was Northern Ireland.  She started in Belfast.  The Titanic was built there.  She was there on St. Patrick's Day.  How fun that would be!  She started in a bar and then on the streets for singing, eating, drinking, & parade.  She bought a green sweater to fit in and for good luck. Then she went to the Antrim Coast.  That is special to me.  Antrim is some of my ancestors last name from my father's grandfather's family.  Supposedly we are or were related to a Lord Antrim.  She described the landscape --- rolling hills & castles & the sea.  It is one of the most beautiful places in the world.  She met a huge Irish Wolfhound.  They used to hunt wolves a& were given as gifts to royalty.  She saw Castle Dunluce, a ruin.  And a map.  I can only dream!  Anxious for my next letter!

    While I napped we had some light rain.  Chance for severe weather tonight.  Storms are sort of forming at the present.  One can hope for rain.  I tune out the weatherman when he mentions rain.  No need to listen.  If weather is severe, I have a weather radio and weather apps that will let me know.

    My pasture was full to the brim of cattle most of the day.  Should have taken a photo.  After supper I took Nico out & all the cattle were a huge congregation around the pond.  No idea why?  And they were mooing often.  Hope all is well.  Birds were flying around.  There were 2 geese that flew over honking loudly!!

    My nephew's uncle was over here with 3 dogs.  I did not see this & Nico almost had a stroke when these dogs ran up to him!!!  They are nice dogs but too friendly for Nico.  Then I had him do an errand for me.  Something blew down in the wind & he set it back up.

    My friend MC called here in error.  Nice to hear his voice.  I like him & his wife.

    I been watching the Science Channel shows about Jesus.  Much of what we believe is not true or accurate.  The Bible was written hundreds of years after his time.  There are those who are searching and learning more every day about what the truth could be.  It is interesting.  And of course the major churches would never let the truth be known if there is something other than what they believe.

20 april, 2022 Wandering

    Had a busy day.  That is good.  I have been having a hard time adjusting to no people around me.  The last week & a half was so nice being active & being with others.  Did not help to know it would end but it is not good.

     Weather was ok today.  Started cloudy & cool but this afternoon it cleared up & warmed up.

    I had a doctor's appointment in Hutchinson KS today.  Saw my diabetic doctor's PA.  I really like her.  She is friendly and thorough.  All is well.  Go back in 6 months.

    When I got home I tried to lay down for a short nap.  Not much sleep last night.  But Nico just would not leave me alone.  He just had to go outside.  He dorked around.  Everything but do his business.  Sheesh.  Then out of the mood for a nap.  But right before leaving the house later, he was better outside.

    I met JR & PM for supper.  Medium busy and lots of take out orders.  MA mother was there.  I love to see her.  She is so sweet.  Wish she was always here.

    Got home for my Spanish lesson.  What a letdown.  Flunked the lesson twice.  Might try again later.  Not good.

    I called my AC guy and my tire guy and no answer from either one.  Somehow I accidentally put my phone on airplane mode.  Duh!!  IF they tried to call it would not come through.  Will call tomorrow.  The AC guy better get with the program.  He should have called days ago and before my appointment today.  I dread the hot weather.

    This stupid weather is just one cold front after another.  My body is paying the price.  Would be quicker to say what does not hurt than what does hurt.  I hate being out in public when I have trouble walking.  I do not want to be old & decrepit.  I am scared.  And no one seems to take care or hardly notice.  I need more than jokes.  A soft place to land would be great.  But never for me.  Never been like that.  Done whining.

    Photos today are from Guthrie OK.  I was there a couple of years ago.  I am ready to go back for a break.  It is a nice little town.  Good food and lots of antique shops.  Heck, a motel room in Salina would be a nice break!

                    

19 april, 2022 Wandering

    Sort of a boring day.  Just at home.  I slept poorly last night.  I tried sleeping on the sofa & that did not help.  I took my pain killing cream with lots of peppermint oil in it.  For some reason that relaxes me.  That baffles me.  But it works.  Nico was part of the problem but not all.  All are quiet today.

    Stayed in the 50s today.  Better than the coming friday. Will be almost 90.  Great.  Still no AC.  Not happy.

    The breeze was calm until this afternoon.  No cattle here early but late morning & early afternoon they filled the pasture.  Just relaxing to sit & watch.  Nico and I spent some time outside.  This afternoon we had strong winds.  Knocked over one trash bin.  Nothing in it so I do not care until I have trash to put there.  Then I will move both of them where they are more stable.

    The fur kids & I took nice naps.  No one moved.  Nico did but only to be under my blanket.  We kept warm.

    Planes have been flying at the bomb range for 2 days.  Wednesday used to be the big flying & bombing day.  Seems like now any day is ok.  Years ago they flew over our farm but then more land was bought to the west so now they do not fly over here.  That is good.  And many years go they would sometimes break the sound barrier.  Not good.  My house would shake & my small kids would wake from their naps.  Then that was outlawed.  Good.

18 april, 2022 Wandering

    Writing early today.  Not a lot to say.  Home alone again.  The weather is nice.  Got fairly cold last night.  I like that.  Good sleeping weather.  We did not freeze like they forecast.  It was close but no cigar!

    I slept so-so.  For a change Nico did not hog the bed.  But he was under the covers most of the night.  I had the heat turned very low.  Wanting to save propane.

    This morning & noon the cattle were all by my driveway.  Many calves.  Nice to see.  My nephew was cruising in his 4 wheeler in the pasture checking cattle.  He was not alone.  I could not see exactly who was with him but they saw me and there were a lot of hands waving at me!  Nice moment!!

    I sat outside for a while & took some photos.  Nico got some fresh air.  I am sure Cinder was watching.  My photos today are what I took today.

    On the news is that Covid's latest is rising in Philidelphia.  That is scary.  Masks are being suggeseted again.  And one man who has a restaurant is not happy.  Worried about his business.  What is more important ---- someone's life or a business?  I am watching.  If you upgrade to premium The Weather Channel they have added a place to watch for Covid.  It goes by county.  Just tap on the county you want to check.  So far it is quiet here in Kansas.  But people will see me in a mask when that changes.

    My eczema is increasing.  I swear I itch in many more places.  My palms are the worst.  Frustrating.
