08/2025 - Jueves the 28th - JOURNEY

Today's Name Day:  Fatima, Leila

Pretty good day.  Slept good when I finally fell asleep.  Had a thunderstorm around 3am.  Had some thunder & lightning.  I got a total of 0.68".  More than usual.  Nice.  Today stayed cloudy & dry.  Pretty cool.  Nice.  Hope this weather lasts for a long time.
Lunch with girlfriends was cancelled.  Will meet next week.  I was tired so not upset.
Jalisco's reopened.  Totally new look.  Will miss the brick walls.
Met my artist friend RG.  We met at the Sale BARn.  I was a bit early & got to make friends with our waitress & the owner of the business who is also the cook.  Got bad news though.  RG is leaving earlier than he & I thought.  He goes home on saturday.  Dang.  I love his company.  He is fun to talk to but I always talk too much. Probably since I an lonely often.  Next year he is not here until September.  Too long to wait.  We have decided to make phone calls.  Be nice.
Lowering my insulin is better so far.  RA sucks big time.  Awful.
When I headed for home I noticed how low my fuel was.  Yikes!!!  Thank goodness I was still in town.  Close call.
Photos are flowers & a mix.
I would love to have this!

National Noodle Day

Today's Name Day: Jennifer, Jenny

Had a great day!!  Not too stressful or busy.  An easy pace.  I slept fair with Cinder close now & then.  I was going to get my flu shot but just no time.  I can go to the local pharmacy. Can get the flu shot and the Covid shot.  Take JR with to get his Covid shot.

Had a text this morning from a very caring & sweet friend that said she had made the Swedish cinnamon buns & had a couple to give to me.  What a great surprise.  I picked them up when I got to town.  What a very generous thing to do.  💗

Went to the SVAFC for my favorite artist, MH, show his art & his talk about it..  Had a large crowd.  His last show had a small crowd as it was freezing with snow.  Great weather today.  They had snacks in the back but I had none.  Would rather have supper.  He was kind enough to make sure everyone knows that JR has a showing of his photos in February.  JR is so busy getting ready.  Wants to have his photos done the end of December.  I am getting excited thinking about it!

We went to the cemetery to fix Willie's grave after it was vandalized again.  They took his flowers & threw them away & left tiny bouquet on MY side of the headstone.  I am NOT dead & need no flowers yet. Their way to say they wish I was dead???? When I saw that I moved the tiny bouquet to Willie.  So today I went to see if anything thing else done his grave.  I removed the tiny bouquet replaced it with some beautiful flowers I had in the trunk of my car.  Looks better.

I also noticed that my close friend John's flowers were all gone.  Wind or my kids??  Will replace. soon.  Need to go back to where I got the headstone for the things to put in the vases.  Will get extras.

Went up on Coronado Heights.  There was a huge group of people that were hiking on the trails.  And lots of cars.  Yesterday in Lindsborg there was a running race up the hill and back.  Had a friend who ran & did pretty good..  Today was a bike race or ride.  Many, many bikes in town.  Saw them all take off!  No photo.  Not where I could take some.  Glad we had nice weather.

Supper was at Pizza Hut.  Then went to the Barnyard Creamery for soft serve ice cream with hot fudge sauce.  I am addicted!!

Tried to have a short nap but did not happen.  Finish this & do my spanish.  Photos are autumn ones.

05/2024 Fredag the 24th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

Preparing for Memorial Day

Today's Name Day: Ivan, Vanja

No real blog.  Long day.  Decorated graves in 2 cemeteries.  I might go to one here tomorrow.  Plus a long, long time on Coronado Heights taking photos of flowers, yuccas, etc.  I bought many, many silk flowers.  And I needed them.  Found many of our family graves with no one to put on flowers them.  It is up to JR & I.  When we are gone there will be no one who will or can or care.  We ended the day in Pizza Hut.  I am exhausted.

The castle on Coronado Heights

A large family grouping of our family.  The one cousin who usually decorated these has now passed away himself.

Grave of a sweet lady I took care of in a nursing home in the 1970s.  Just found her grave.  And I cried.  Loved her.

My parents.  Dad was a tail gunner in WWII so he gets a flag.

My mom was a twin.  Her sister was born before midnight, Mom after midnight.  Different dates.  Her sister was born dead.  This is her grave.  Mom's brother promised to put a stone on it but never did.  I did it.

Scene from the top of Coronado Heights.
My grandson MM's father.

Willie & someday me.

03/2024 Måndag the 18th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

National Sloppy Joe Day

Today's Name Day: Edmund, Edvard

Had a pretty good day.  Not much sleep last night but I survived.

I had to gather all the trash bags in the house & toss them out the front door.  I never got rid of any 2 weeks ago so I had many extra.  And lots of boxes.

I picked up JR to come help me.  Hard to walk this last week.  Very frustrating.  All got picked up for trash guys in the morning,

We stopped on Coronado Heights,  A memorial was reported on the steps going to the top of the castle.  Cannot reach it.  Waaaay tooooo high up.  I contacted our board president.  Sent photos.  The castle was quite clean aside from graffiti on the walls & tables.  And the road was perfect.  Very nice.

Stopped at Willie's grave to make sure one of our kids had not trashed it again.  Lordy, I love families!  But it was ok.  I added some flowers & some to my friend John's grave too.  He needs all new ones.  Bad looking flowers,  Will go back to replace.  No one else puts flowers on his grave.  Be sad when I am gone.  There will be no one to care.

Supper was at Jalisco's.  Good to see every one.  And there is a birthday coming up soon.  I am even invited.  A nice surprise.

Some local gossip.  A gym is opening in a large building on Main Street.  No interest to me.  And I heard a new building is being built for another ice cream place.  That sounds fun.  Time will tell how accurate the gossip is.

Cinder went out before JR was here..  We saw her once but she left us alone.  When I got home after supper she was on the porch ready to come in.  She ate & went to sleep somewhere.  Kisse is curled up next to me.  I need a blanket.  I am chilly.  Even socks are not helping!

Watching a cool tv show on trying to bring back to life the whooly mammoth.  They are now headed to the northern Siberia to search for bones. They are in the coldest town in the world,  But as it is summer it looks very nice.  Interesting,

Photos are from Sweden.  They sure make me wish I could return there.  Sad for me.  Won't ever happen.

This is Marstrand Sweden, an island.  I can see where I ate breakfast every morning, the street to my room, the ferry, places I shopped.  Love it there.

10 october, 2022 Wandering & Capturing Moments

Had a very good day!!  Slept good last night with very little pain.  Nice for a change.  Nico only barked only once.  A blessing!

Nico & I sat outside this morning.  All of a sudden I heard someone talking!!  Yikes!!  It was my nephew's uncle in my shed.  He is there often!!  He was trying to control his dog & I had Nico who could not be quiet!!  A little early morning excitement!

I picked up my brother to help with trash before my grandson is here tomorrow.  I had it all in bags.  He carried the bags out & then flattened boxes to add in the trash bins.

After trash we drove up to Coronado Heights.  The road has been fixed & so has the top.  It was all good except on problem spot.  That was no good at all.  The top was great!  All smooth with no deep holes!  And a large monument that tipped in a large flood has been straightened.  Looks wonderful!

Then I drove through the cemetery near there to see Willie & other relatives.  Need to put new flowers out when it is cooler & I am not busy.  Our great grandparents had a huge bouquet.  No idea who put it on there.  Very nice.  The usual ones who did that are now all dead or in a nursing home.  Others have never bothered.

We went to the White Peacock for an early supper.  I was worried about my stomach after supper last night.  I settled on an Italian cream soda, a few chips, & a cranberry lemon muffin.  It was perfect.  Not everyone makes a good Italian soda but today it was yummy!!

Near perfect weather today. Temps were 43F & 80F.  Some rain in southern Kansas.  We have a chance tomorrow evening.  Won't hold my breath.  Then cooler.  Good news.  We really need rain.  Wheat is being planted or is planted.  Won't be good without moisture.

Photos today are all from the White Peacock.  Good to see them busy today.  I need to try harder to go there.  Time for hot chocolate!!
