19 november, 2022 Wandering & Capturing Momentsee

A much better day than last night!  Just my usual fatigue & tiredness plus a little queasiness.  And not much pain.

Cinder was gone all day again.  I did not panic.  Warmer weather so she might be hunting or roaming.  Worries me but I have no control.  She came back after our supper.  Good to see her.  And it is hard to keep her drinking water when it freezes quickly.  Maybe she was hunting for water.

My photos are of 2 different steam engines.  The first two photos are in Newton.  This one is on display.  The others are of one called Big Boy!  Number 4014.  It is huge & heavy.  When it goes past you & you are standing close the earth moves!  It is the only one still licensed to still carry freight, etc.  It takes a trip every summer.  I have seen him 3 times.

The first time I saw him was when I was in Abilene KS.  The city did not look normal.  People were milling around, like waiting for a parade.  I asked & I was told a train had been in town & was headed to Salina KS.  If you take the back way to Salina you follow the train tracks.  There was a long line of vehicles driving next to Big Boy.  I had my windows open to hear the engine, the whistle, & the bell.  At one point I sped up to get far ahead & parked.  Got photos of it approaching & going by.  Then I went to Salina to see it.  I had no idea how special he was.

Then my brother & I saw him twice. First time in Salina.  Too many people.  JR was so nice that he brought me a chair to sit on.  Ha.  The train came, I got kicked off the chair, & he stood on it for good photos.  The photos here are ones I took in Salina.

The second time we saw Big Boy was in Abilene.  Much better.  Easy, close parking.  We got there early to make sure.  You can stand right next to it as it goes by.  Gives you chills!!!

My second fave steam engine is the Durango Silverton railroad.  My dearest wish is to ride it one more time.  That was the best ride.  Have to find someone to drive me there.  In no way am I driving the Million Dollar Highway to get there.

Abilene KS has a train that goes from there to Enterprise.  Not far enough but still fun.  On saturday evenings they have a dinner train.  I did that once with friends.  Willie went & never quit complaining how awful the good was.  It was not.  He ate every bite.  If it was awful he would have left it on the plate.

Four years ago this weekend Kisse went missing. I could hear her but no idea where she was. My nephew was out of town until Sunday. He looked on the roof but nowhere for her to get stuck. Turns out she climbed in the vent from my dryer. And she was in the back of my dryer. I never let her outside again. House cat for 4 years. I am glad. Hope she is also. If left outside she would be dead by now. She had a mom & 2 siblings. They all died. I hate to think what she saw.

Got down to 17F last night.  And then warmed up!!  It was 20F this morning.  Got into the 30s.  Warmer tomorrow.

Wandering Through Life, 2 September 2012

A busy busy day.  Had trouble sleeping so I finally took a pill.  Tuesday night it did nothing.  Last night I slept very well.

I was up fairly early and I took Nico to the vet hospital.  He has some meds and tests to get and I have a ton of stuff to do and just cannot leave him home alone too many hours.  He did not even seem upset.  Is he tired of me???  Like the pretty girl???  Dang.  But when I get him he will be all cuddly.  I brought his “baby” with him so he does not get lonesome.  I threaten them if the baby gets lost!!

Then I picked up my brother and we took off to Abilene.  Big Boy, a huge steam engine has been touring and towards the end of her tour she comes from KC to Abilene and Salina.  Then further west and home.  She is just breath taking to see!  Two years ago we went to Salina but it is too crowded, no where to park, and just a pain.  Decided to try to catch it somewhere else.  I know Abilene pretty well and knew of several places we could park.  Got there early and found a parking place right next to the tracks in a parking lot. Cool.  It stopped east of us but no problem.  When it finally went by us slowly  I was standing very close.  When the whistle blows my feet vibrated all the way to the top of my head.  My ears will ring all night!!  It was raining then but I did not care.  Got some photos.  Have to play with them but will post some from today.

Ended the day in Salina and looked at a huge mural being painted on a grain elevator. Pretty awesome!!!

Then Big Cheese Pizza for supper.  A perfect day.

Wandering Through Life, 29 july, 2021

Always be kind. Wear a mask if needed. Avoid toxic people and situations. The Delta Variant is starting to grow here fast. And with my luck someone who refuses to get vaccinated with be fine but me with both shots, will get sick. God love luck!

Weather here at the Saraha Desert West was hot and humid. I saw 104F with high humidity and will be worse tomorrow. A delight to taking Nico outside. Or dash to the car.

Finally!!! I feel normal. Blood sugar was normal twice today. Almost like my insulin was not working. No more scratchy throat. I use Young Living Thieves at least once or twice daily and think it does make a difference.

My best friend found out he has an infection in his throat. Meds should fix it. I think we both were a bit worried. I know some others with colds/throat problems. Must be a bug going around. I have made the decision to wear my mask again. Too many in this state do not believe in science.

My depression is worse, of course. Sometimes I feel that life is only for others. Never me. I think of going away for a day or two but sitting somewhere alone ---- is that fun? Is it worth it? Still thinking.

I have started buying candles to burn daily. Helps calm me. And at certain times during the month I burn one and do intentions. I just received some mini candles I ordered. Awesome!! Great smells! Tonight I am burning one called Dazzling Diamonds. All sparkly.

Photos are a mix from the recent past. Including one of Big Boy steam engine that is set to return here soon!!! I am ready!!
