National Bucket List Day

I have 2 things on my Bucket List.  They are to return to Sweden for at least a month.  And to spend a week or two in Las Vegas.  Pretty sure neither will happen.

Today's Name Day: Vega

    Not a totally good day.  I hurt so bad in bed.  Even both my hands hurt so bad.  I tried not to move much.

    I had a dr appointment but called to cancel.  They got me in next wednesday.  That never happens.  The dr is on sabbatical somewhere.  Not good.  He has a great personality but has basically done nothing to help me with my diabetes.  All my past diabetic docs were really great.  I looked for a new doctor online today.  There is one in Salina.  Might soon talk to my doctor & see what he thinks.  I think I want to change.

    I keep reading that frankincense is great for pain relief.  Today I used it for my pain & only it.  The bottle I have is mixed with myrrh also.  Good news is it worked great on my hands.  Hip does get better & so does my knee.  But need to replace often.  Cannot always do that when working or eating out.  Will keep using it.  See if it builds up over time.

    Before I got up I was looking out my bedroom window.  And landing in the tree was a red cardinal.  Wow!!  Gorgeous!!

    Took a nice nap.  Cats did also.  Cinder is back outside now.

    Had a few texts today.  Plans for tomorrow.  Work???  Supper with AA???  Time will tell.  Weather here looking ok for tomorrow.  Who knows???

    Severe weather tomorrow.  We are in it in the morning.  On a scale of 1-10 we are a 2..  Ten is the worst, one is the least.  In the evening the forecast is worse but looks like it stays in the west.. Friday is calm but more storms on saturday.  Don't want storms.  WANT rain!!!

    Photos today are all from Kalmar Sweden.  I stayed there for 2 weeks 2006.  Loved living there like a real Swede.  I was in the third floor in an apartment house.  I was near a church & old water tower made into a home.  I have photos of both.  And not too far from a castle.  I went through it.  But we were too late for a tour.  Wish we had gone back.

Kalmar Slott --- Kalmar Castle.  The legendery castle goes back 800 years.  It is one of the best well-preserved Renaisance castles.

National Cherry Cheesecake Day

Today's Name Day: Georg, Göran

    Had a busy day again.  Much better than sitting at home alone. 

    Got a text around 930pm last night asking if I could come in to the Old Mill to work.  I said, "of course".  Thought the schedule for the kids & exhibitors was done, but an exhibitor or two changed their mind & quit.  So we moved kids all over the place.  Around 3pm we had things as they should be.

    I could have left but I stayed to work on some photos.  Missed doing that.  Still working on the Swedish Pavilion photos.  Doing some that are more interesting.

    I left a bit early to go wash my car.  I am doing my part trying to lure rain here.  Haha.  At least I look better.

    Then JR & I went to supper at Jalisco's.  They were busy.  When we got up to leave, I saw that MM was sitting behind us!!  I paid for his meal & he went to my car to fix my  car play.  I am sooo grateful!!  Worth a meal!!

    JR bought me a few groceries.  Cookies, Sprite, meat, & Dawn dish soap.  I have an easy weed killer that is not harmful with vinegar & Dawn.  Tomorrow I will do that.  Great to see MM.  And get a sweet grandson hug.

    Both cats napped all day while I was gone.  Cinder was at the door ready to go out.  She will use the litter box but prefers to go outside.

    Much much less wind today, but much warmer also.  Chance of severe weather this coming weekend.  Just want rain & lots of it.

National Earth Day

Today's Name Day: Allan, Glenn

    I had an interesting day.  Hardly normal.  But I liked it.  Started very early.  I had slept pretty good but woke up around 6am.  Briefly got up & back to bed, but could not go back to sleep.  Cinder was all curled on me.  I finally got up around 830am.  And since I was up so early I had a real breakfast.  Sprite & cinnamon roll.  And took my insulin.

    I had a lunch date that got cancelled again but I had my makeup on & dressed.  I tried to call but got no answer.  Decided I would go alone or see if I heard closer to lunch.  I ate alone & that was ok.  Had time to chat a little.  My "date" was having car trouble.  Hope he gets it fixed soon.

    One of the worker's wife & small daughter are coming here soon from Mexico & he needs someplace for them to live.  I called a friend who has rentals to see what he had & as luck would have he has one opening up soon.  Great.  I gave his number to MA & they can work out they details.  I am anxious to meet his wife.  I am sure she speaks no English.  His little girl is just so sweet.

    Then I went home for dessert of things I have here.  Just finished it & I got a text from AA that he needed a ride to Salina for a shot he forgot & needs.  Back to Lindsborg & we were off to the Tammy Walker Cancer Center.  After his shot we went through McDonald's for a meal for him.  It was good to see him & talk.  Will have supper with him & his mother later in the week.  She will probably  cook for us.  Excellent cook!  Hopefully there is a soccer match on the tv.  Love to watch them with him.  Fun to hear how he would play the match!!  And what he thinks of how they are playing.  I usually have to watch alone.  Not as much fun.

    Back at home I took a short nap then supper.  Cats were inside until supper.

    Weather was sort of awful today.  I was too hot overnight.  Then I got too cold.  High winds today.  We had gusts here of 49mph.  The house almost shook.  Better tonight.  We were in a fire watch with the extra dry conditions here.  Less wind tomorrow.  Less chance of fires.  'End of the week there are several days of chance of severe weather.  I hope we at least get some rain.

    When Willie was still alive & had no dementia there was a sweet older man in Lindsborg who came out on our farm to gather fire wood.  We never charged him just let him have it.  So at Christmas he always brought us a large turkey or a large ham.  Just now I saw that he had died at age 91.  What a sweet guy.  Missed seeing him & the good food he gave us.

Today's Name Day: Anneli, Annika

    After a really busy week, today was a day of rest.  Next week is better.

    I slept pretty good..  Cinder was back & forth.  Kisse curled on my lap first for a while.  If I keep my lamp on then Cinder stays away.  Usually.

    It got cold last night ---- in the 30s.  And will do it again tonight.  Wish that would stay all summer.  I would sleep better & save money.  No AC needed.  Today was in the 60s.  Getting warmer day by day.  Usch.

    Now we are in a wind warning.  And most likely a fire warning too.  Another usch.  Rain mid to late week.  Here??? Hahaha!!!  Fat chance.

    I saw a friend saturday night & for the life of me I could not think of his name.   We chatted.  I used to drive him to his plane reservations every Christmas & I had his parents phone number in case I needed to call.  I finally wrote to a mutual friend who of course knew.  NOW I can relax!!! (-;

    Only one doctor visit this week.  Easy appointment.  Nice PA.  Just have to drive there.  Not too far.

Thinking of Sweden - Köttbullar

Swedish Meatballs, mashed potatoes, & lingonberries

Today's Name Day: Amalia, Amelie

    Great day.  Had lunch plans but they have been moved to another day.  So I got a long nap.  Already dressed & had my makeup on.  Worked good.

    Supper was at the Happy Swede with JR.  They posted a photo of what was their special for the day.  Swedish meatballs with mashed potatos & lingonberries.  Köttbullar.  I told them what they fixed was as good as I had in Sweden.  A guy I am friends with came in to eat & I told him how good they were.  After he ate his comment to me was "Yust like being in the old country!"  Mine to him was "Ya sure, ya betcha!"  The best I have had in the US other than at an IKEA.  There is another place in town that fixes them too.  They are sort of OK but not quite true Swedish.  I told Happy Swede that everytime they serve them I will be there.  And they are like being in Sweden.  Might be as close to Sweden I ever get again.  My heart is always in Sweden.  Always.

    JR & I sat to chat for a long time.  We discussed movies & music.  Old movies & 60s music.  I am out of donuts so he ran in to get me another package of them.  Mmmmmm.

    Stayed pretty cool last night & cooler tonight.  Good for sleeping,  Cinder eventually came to sleep with me.  And she was in for my nap also..

    Photos tonight are from the Happy Swede.  Many little nooks & crannies with neat stuff to shoot.  I missed one but will get it next time.

National Amaretto Day

Today's Name Day: Ola, Olaus

    What a busy, busy day!!!
    Day did not start well.  Time to eat lunch & needed more insulin.  None is the fridge!!!  I looked high & low!!!  None to find.  I called for a new box to get before they close this afternoon.  AFTER I called I found my old box on the kitchen floor by the fridge.  It fell out.  But how long was it there???  Decided to get the new box to be safe.

    It was cold out so Cinder was in & out twice.  Came in as I was leaving.  Smart cat.

    Had my hair app't to cut, color, & style.  Long app't.  But nice to be pampered!!!

    After hair, I rushed home to see if Cinder wanted out.  No one in the house moved.  But I had forgotten to empty the kitty litter from the night so needed to be there.  Then I scooted off to town to get my insulin.  Almost was too late!!!  

    Then picked up pizzas & went to LL's house for supper.  Ahhh.  Time to relax & chat!!  Very nice.  Good conversation.  We solved several problems in not only our world but the world in general.  Now if people would just listen.  😃

    I called JR to see if he wanted my last 3 pieces of pizza & he did so I delivered on the way home.

    MM was bartending at the Legion tonight.  If I  was not so tired I would have stopped in for a drink,  Next week maybe.

    When I got home Cinder ran outside.  Get her in here soon.  She slept with me all night last night.  Much less pain with no fronts arriving here for a few days.  Middle of next week changes come.  This weekend is quite cool.  Good.  Keep the heat away as long as possible!

    Busy again tomorrow.
