05 november, 2022 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Today was quiet & peaceful.  Home alone as usual.  Had some texts.

    Did not get all the sleep I wanted last night thanks to Nico.  My eczema was extra itchy.  I got up & put on anti itch lotion.  Nico thinks that any lotion of any kind I put on he must lick off.  He almost shoved me out of bed last night trying.  I finally turned on my light & scolded him.  Then he finally settled down to sleep.

    Today I took an extra long nap.  I know I can get a lecture of not sleeping during the day so I can sleep at night.  Or being called lazy, etc.  Well, I have 3 chronic diseases & just got over Covid.  Maybe I needed extra time today.  Decided I will not allow negative comments to me about my life.

    My nap was so peaceful.  I sort of remember a really calm peaceful dream I had.  And at one point I swear Willie was standing by me to arrange my blanket.  Was he?  Wishful thinking?  Nice, never left my side either.

    Before I fell asleep Kisse was on a table looking out the north window.  I have no idea what she saw but she would sit up straight & look out.  Then she would crouch down & look out.  Did that several times.  Up & down.  Maybe squirrels were out there harvesting acorns.

    I got word a friend died this week.  She was a special lady but I am glad she is at peace.  A world of history of our town & our cemeteries is now gone.  She was so interesting to talk to.  We walked around the one cemetery one day so I could take photos of graves she was giving a talk about.  But I learned much more than just those graves.  I love cemeteries.  Peaceful.

    We had rain last night but the forecast of 2" of snow was a lie.  We got nada.  Of course.  I have had almost 2" of rain in a couple of days.  Wish it would stay cool & not get too warm.

    Still coughing & still sore ribs.  Awful.  If I am laying down I have less pain but sitting or standing is not good.

07 september, 2022 Wandering

    A great day!  Hope there are more to come.  A bit too warm as the dome of heat moves back in.  Our temps were 63F & 94F.  I sat out a bit in the afternoon with Nico.  There was a good breeze so it was not too bad outside.  Even in town later with all the concrete it did not feel overwhelming.

    Willie always said when grasshoppers are dying they turn brown.  I am seeing some browns ones.  And ugly brown.  And the barn swallows or field swallows are now gathering on my electrical lines.  Another sign of autumn.  I am hopeful.  And it is getting easier to drive home from supper.  The sun is changing its position.  😍

    I had coffee/tea with a good friend, TN, at the White Peacock.  He introduced me to a friend of his, NG, to talk about her aunt that she did not know too well.  I grew up with her from early childhood through high school & longer.  NG seems very nice.  Good to meet someone new.  We plan to connect on FB.

    I planned ahead at the Peacock & ordered a sandwich when I got there.  Yum.  Ham, mayo, lingonberries, cheese on a bun.  I had the sauces on the side so it would not get all soggy.  Very good.

    The 3 of us had a good conversation.  And after NG had to leave, TN & I had good conversation.  He is easy to talk to & interesting.  We will meet there more often.  I am glad.

    The black cat was here & sat near the house & just looked at me.  Maybe we will end of friends someday.  Cinder showed up so I fed her & I am sure he ate it all.  What a pig!

    Still forecasting a cold front to move in on friday & rain friday moving in to saturday.  Not counting on it.  I know better.

    There is a cold case of murder in Great Bend KS that is 20 years old.  Brought back many memories.  I went to Great Bend often at that time to visit a sweet friend.  And I always drove by the store where the murder took place.  They had ideas who was the killer but never could prove it.  New evidence now.  Hope they find him.

Wandering Through Life, 10 September 2021

    Not awful weather today but over 90F and a bit muggy.  Much worse tomorrow.  Glad I can stay home.

    Picked up groceries this morning.  Food in the house again.  Glad for a local grocery store so I do not have to drive far.

    Supper with JR and PM at Jalisco’s.  It sure helps to be with people and to visit.  And laugh.  And a couple of hugs really helps.  I even ran an errand for JS and NM.  Nice to be needed.

    Played with my phone and different camera apps to look at different settings.  One I like but not for everything.

    Big event in town tonight.  Art, food, music.  Be fun to have someone to walk around with.  I even felt better tonight so I could have, but there is no one.  It is very difficult to be so lonely.  But my problem and it matters to no one else.  I just went home instead of sitting in town feeling sorry for myself.  Does no one any good.  I had attention from my friends during supper.  Grateful.

Surviving the Pandemic, Day 388....

Had an OK day. Slept ok. Even got a short nap.

Met JR2 for coffee at the White Peacock. I had an Italian Soda. My blood sugar dropped when I was getting dressed so decided to have more than tea.

After coffee, JR2 took all my boxes. My trunk was full! Good to be rid of them. Several more yet to gather up.

Picked up JR for supper at Jalisco's. They were swamped with people. Two very large groups in to eat at the same time. And many, many large take out orders. Poor, poor JS was almost running. MA also. But they are great waiters and slighted no one. I ordered ice cream and I stressed I was in no hurry. I am a regular and all others are more important.

While in eating, it started to rain. Rained sort of hard on the way home. Plus I saw a double rainbow. And got photos!

Sheltering in Place, Mood Of Silence, Day 304....

 Quiet day. Sleep was spotty. Weather was OK but super strong winds. Sounded like a freight train. Wind again tomorrow.

This morning I saw the black cat again. He is gorgeous! Wish he was a house cat. Life is hard for feral cats. He did not see us and Nico did not see him.

Planning to meet a friend next week for supper. With Cooid not see him in a while. Miss him. Plus he works a lot. Be good to reconnect.
