01 august, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

August is here.  Brings nothing but heat.  Almost 106 here now.  I have nothing to say about today so I am doing something different.  Posting photos of places I have visited in Sweden.  And will explain each of them.

This is a museum of singer Lill-Babs from Järvsö.  She was well known in Sweden & Europe.  She never was successful in the US.  The day I visited there, she walked in!  I got to meet her!  Sweet lady.  She has since passed away.

Here is the church in Järvsö.  It is the largest stone church in a city of this size.  I got to go behind the altar & see some of their things.  Several wedding crowns.  One large place with the gorgeous robes the priests wore when the church was Catholic.  I got to touch one that was 600 years old.  It was an honor to attend church there that day.

Here is Marstrand, an island.  No traffic on the streets.  It is my favorite place.  Peaceful.  I was visiting a friend there but think I was just in the way.  Made me sad.  Wish I could return there again.

Gorgeous cathedral in Kalmar.  I stayed in an apartment there.  I went to church every morning.  Just a short service with an organ & someone singing.  Then across the street was a bakery where I had some great treats after church.  Love it there.

This is the castle (slott) in Kalmar.  We made a quick trip through it.  I wish I had gone through it on a tour.  Great castle!

This collage is of Malmö.  I visited the tall building called the Turning Torso.  Amazing to see.  You can only go in it if you live there or have an office there.  Dang.

The bridge is the Öresund Bridge that goes from Malmö & Copenhagen.  It starts as a bridge.  Cars drive on the top level & trains on the lower level.  Then they both go under the water.  And come back up to cross a man made island & then in to Copenhagen.  I got to drive on it.  Quite amazing.  Toured a little of Danmark before going back to Sweden on a ferry.  It was a huge ship to me!!  And named after one of my ancestors!  That was amazing!

Marstrand with snow.  Never been in Sweden in winter.

07 may, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

Yay!!!  I  slept all night!!  Feel so much better.  Took a pill & kept the house cool.  Sure helps!  Took a short nap too.

Far too hot.  Hotter than yesterday.  Our temps were 96.4F & 65.8F.  Hate it.  And if the moths were not bad enough, I saw the first june bug.  They are just evil.  I have a big fear of  one getting in my hair.  Will keep the porch dark.  For my safety.

When I got home tonight there was a turkey vulture on my light pole.  Good to see him.  Anytime Nico & I are outside during the day several of them fly over checking on us.  Cool.  Hoping we are dead???

JR & I went to Pizza Hut for supper.  My grandson CF met us there.  I added our photo tonight!  Great to see him.  Must do it more often.  Good to hear he has a girlfriend again.  Novia in spanish.  Love the pizza.  Our fave waitress is home now.  See her in a couple of months when she comes back to college.

Photos tonight are mostly from Sweden.  Just in a Swedish mood.  I would do almost anything to return to Sweden.  It is home.  I miss being there deep in my heart.  Town of Järvsö.  Love it there.  My great grandmother is from that area.  Still havw relatives there.  Love the church there.  Great to visit & attend.  Moving.  One thing I really miss not having here is their ice cream.  Hundreds of times better than any here.  They use no chemicals.  And the second thing is lighting a candle for whoever or whatever you want.  I want to do that sometimes.

25 september, 2022 Wandering & Capturing Moments

Today is a rerun of yesterday.  I am tired of being sick & missing out on things.  No way to cure my body.  I cancelled lunch today.  No need to almost crawl in.  No one needs to see that.

I did write to someone who should have cared but it was ignored.  A sweet caring message would sure have made me feel a bit better.

Nico napped this afternoon while I rested & read.  Nice to have him close.

Great weather again.  It was in the 50s last night.  Cosy in bed even if not sleep shared the bed with me.  Today we hit 81F.  The highest temp in the next week is 84.  Great week!  No rain though.

Sat outside for a long time with Nico & Cinder.  Really nice to be out.  No wind & no bugs.  They will be out tonight I am sure.

I forgot to share.  A couple of nights ago around 3am I took Nico out.  Luckily I had his leash very short.  He went absolutely crazy.  There was a skunk not far away.  OMG!  We could have gotten sprayed.  Might be worse than walking poorly!  I thought he would never calm down.  And she was staring at us.  She finally ran away & Nico took care of business.  A truly awful moment.  She never came up last night.  Smart.  Go away!

Yesterday in a nearby town was their annual Thunder in the Valley.  It is a motorcycle gathering.  We usually see a few in town here also.  Be fun to be there to see all the bikes.  Wichita had an air show for the first time in 4 years.  Would have been fun just to park near to watch the Thunderbirds fly.  Maybe next year.  I cannot walk so far to actually get in but anywhere close would be good.

Photos are some of a coffee house I love.  And other things.  The church is in Järvsö Sverige.  It is special.  The pink flowers are called Lady's Thumb.

Wandering Through Life, 21 july, 2021

Always be kind. Wear a mask if needed. Avoid toxic people and situations. The Delta Variant is starting to grow here fast. Far less of 50% people in my state have had any vaccination. A few more have had only 1 shot. Stupid people. They are putting small children at risk.

The weather man says a dome of HEAT is preparing to settle of us here around the weekend. Oh, joy! Several days over 100 with high humidity. Will be staying home. Today is our last "mild" weather. Ha.

Photos were taken by me in local coffee shop. The last 3 photos are of a church in Järvsö Sweden where I have family living. I went to this church on a sunday. I got to go behind the altar where they keep the 600 year old robes the priests used to wear. I even go to touch one with one finger. What an honor. They also have several bridal crowns for brides to use. It is a very old stone church. Everything echos in it!! The church sits next to the Ljusnan River. Beautiful!!
