Today's Name Day:  Pernilla, Petronella

Love the name Pernilla & I like to say it.  Have a cousin in Småland Sverige with that name.  Her husband taught me how he pronounces Sjõgren.  Love my Swedish family!

    You might notice I have changed the name of my blog.  Change is good.

    Far too hot today.  I saw 87F.  This late afternoon there was a nice breeze.  We had a small chance for rain.  Never happened.  Tuesday is our next chance for rain.

    Worked at the Old Mill today.  Quiet afternoon.  LL was on a Zoom call.  After that there was a high school girl in who volunteers.  But when she went home when talked a bit.  Shared gossip!!!  😁

    I had several photos with people & no names.  I posted them on our nostalgia site.  All names are now known.  There was one man I knew but my mind failed me to remember his first name.  Texted a friend I thought might know it.  He did!!  A successful day!!

    Supper was Mexican.  MA had to run to Salina & our newer help is now a waiter & in charge too.  Her middle son worked today also.  He is nice.  Her husband even talked to me.  She did really good!!! 

    One of the cooks came out to see me.  I have known him forever.  Many years.   I have a huge soft spot in my heart for him.  Years ago he would call me from Mexico to talk.

    Dessert were snow cones.  I managed to spill ice on my top.  Luckily there are no stains.  Whew!!  It is a new top.

    I got a bit teary on the way home.  Had some memories in my mind.  Ok now.  No work tomorrow!

    I saw there are covers for my glucose sensor.  Makes them extra secure, especially when I shower.  They came today.  So before work I am parked by my mailbox with my slacks pulled down to my hips trying to apply my fave one.  Glad I live in the country!!!!  I managed to get it on good.  The other ones I ordered have no opening for my sensor.  Try them next time.  If it was on my arm people could see how pretty they are.  But my doc said I could put it on my stomach.  I like it there.  Won't catch on anything.

Election Day.

Today is the day the US votes for who will be the new president of our country.  I am not relaxed.  Close to terrified.  I should turn the tv off.

Today's Name Day: Eugen, Eugenia

Not blogging normally.  Just photos of the town I live near ---- Falun KS.

The Falun Lutheran Church where voting takes place.  Did not take me long.  On the way out one of Willie's best friends came in.  She always disliked me.  Not seen her since long before he died.  She forced a smile & hello.

This is the house where Willie's boss lived when he was a trucker.  His boss was a nice lady, but tough.  Drove for Gerald's Trucking.  Hauled cattle & grains.  I miss those days & the other drivers.

The Falun State Bank.  Eventually it moved to Lindsborg & changed its name.  Did have an apartment in it once.  Now empty.

Our park.  The rock gates are from the school that is torn down.

The old original post office & the present one.  The old one was a home for a long time.  Looks empty now.

When I got married this was a small grocery store.  Nice if you just needed bread or milk or whatever.  Closer than driving to town.  Second floor was an apartment.  Next it was a restaurant with quite good food.  My mother-in-law worked there.  We had a milk cow and we gave them milk.  I cooked with the cream.  Great when harvest was happening.  Now it is abandoned.

This was Dauer Implement that sold farm equipment & did repairs.  And we had some really fun parties in it with dancing, drinking & potluck meals.  Those were the days.  Someone lives in it now plus has a small gift shop.

The elevator.  Used to be open all the time.  During harvest the one guy working would always call me at home to see if Willie was still cutting.  If I said yes he would stay open until Willie had dumped his wheat.  Now only open for wheat harvest.  There was a very old silo there of wood that Willie & friends tore down & used the wood.

We got married in 1966.  The phones we had were the old crank phones with a married couple who were the operators.  We had at least 7 people on our party line.  We never got dial phones until 1976.  T

en long years!!!  We were the last ones in the state without dial phones.  Our number was 818.  think the ring was long-short-long.

I sure miss the old times in Falun.  We knew everyone in town.  We had community picnics.  Now many of the nice homes are in disrepair.  So sad.  Great memories.

           National Pancake Day

I love pancakes.  But better than these are Swedish pancakes with lingonberries, butter, & whipped cream.  They are like crepes.  Mums.

Today's Name Day: Einar, Enar

    Had a so-so day.  I ended up cancelling the entire day.  Needed to take it easy & rest.  And I did.  Cinder stayed in with me & napped with me.  She just went out.  Will check on her soon.  Like she knows when I need extra support.  She is 1 in a million.

    Slept good last night.  Cinder was in & out.  Kisse was always nearby.

    Weather was ok.  Low was 51 & the high was 83.  Not a chance of rain for at least a week & a half.  The hurricane moisture gets so close to us but stays too far east.  We loose out again.  As usual.

    Heard only from MM.  No one else.  All our busy.  JR sent me the first preview of SNL of this season.  I can hardly wait!!  It looks great.  Their 50th year.  I have not watched all 50 years.  There were times I just did not care for it.  Now I never miss it.  I watched the reruns all summer.  Better than nothing.

    I found some instant peach tea so decided to try it.  It is yummy.  Glad I found it.  I order peach green tea at the White Peacock,  Usually good but never tastes the same two times in a row.  How hard can it be???

    Had burritos for supper tonight.   Good.  Corn candy for dessert.   😀  Probably have a cookie for bedtime snack.

Bestie Pete who died several years ago.  His two dogs who loved me as much as he did.  They knew when Aunt Julie was in the house we all got people food!  Always pizza!!!  I miss the 3 of them.

Willie on the day we adopted our baby Kajsa Jo.  He sure loved her & she loved him.  I think she loved me too. She was usually in his truck with him.  Miss them both.  Life is not ending as I wished it would. We have missed out on some good years.

My babies.  I think of Nico every day.  My heart hurts so bad.

Mountain skiing village.  Love to be there.  Heaven.

National Waitstaff Day

This is in honour of my Hispanic friends who work at Jalisco Mexican Restaurant.  They are the best!

Today's Name Day: Conny, Konstantin

    Had another quiet day.  No plans.  I did not sleep well last night.

    Had bad pain in both hands.  And my left upper arm.  A cold front came through this afternoon & the pain quit for a while. But I am hurting again now.

    Still lots of cleanup in towns damaged by wind,  Some places still without electricity.  What a sad mess.  The only good no was hurt or killed.  That is rare.

    One thing about Kansas is when there are events with major injuries or property damage we all come together to help each other.  When our house burned down Willie's best friends were here to help move things out of the house.  Then the next day we moved into a small home & those same friends moved us in.  His best friend wash washing dishes & told me I better look now because it would never happen again!  I can tell you exactly who was there & exactly who was not.  My supposedly best friend was no where to be seen & all I got from her was a card joking about our situation.  Should have dropped her then.  It was not a joke.

    I worked in a hospital then.  My boss got a card for me & just threw it at me as I sat at a desk & said no kinds words.  One of the doctors lead to the end of our hallway & told me if I needed anything to let him know.  I would have never taken advantage of him but he really made me feel good inside.  Many of my coworkers thought I should have taken no time off,  They were clueless.  I lost my home, many things -- furniture, clothes, photos, etc  Large expense to replace things lost.  Plus I was super stressed.  They had no clue.  But there were others who truly cared.  Should have quit my job then too.  Things only got worse in our lives after this.

    Managed to shampoo my hair. I have laundry to put away too.  Later.  I did get a short nap.  I was tired.

01 april, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    A really nice weather day.  During the night it got down in the 30s with strong winds again.  But after early morning the wind disappeared.  Finally.  Today it was in the 60s & no wind at all.  Beautiful!!

    I sat outside twice with Nico & Cinder.  They enjoyed playing & laying in the sun.

    I did not sleep well last night.  Too many memories running in my mind.  Got a bit teary at times.  All good memories.  Really have no one to talk to about those things.

    Nico is starting his stupid getting into things.  He is soon going to be in the hall with the baby gate up.  And maybe the bedroom door shut until he settles down.  He refuses to listen or mind.  And I get so stressed.

    I actually had company this afternoon.  Out with Nico & TJ with his dogs drove through the yard.  Then later while outside, KN & CN came over to turn the bulls out to the pasture.  And they stayed to chat a bit.  Very nice.  So rare for me!

    I finally forced myself to shampoo my hair.  I hate to do that.  Just no energy.  Wears me out!  So I am good for a few days.  I now use shampoo/rinse bars.  Too much plastic in our landfills.  The shampoo sudses really good.  And the rinse makes my hair very soft,  Nice.  I have such dry skin so I have bought some bar soap for dry skin.  Helps some.

    Finally Saturday Night Live is back on.  Good. Weekend TV is awful.  Week day nights are awful also,  I need to watch some movie channels.

    I video chatted with JS & SM today.  They sent me a video of the Little Rock tornado.  They & their home is fine & so is all of SM's family.  JS was shopping when it hit.  Two huge trees blew down outside of where he was shopping.  Glad I did not know that.
