Today's Name Day:  Fingal, Selma

I have known several Selmas.

    I had a super busy day.  Luckily I slept really good!!

    First was my Swedish Friendship Group.  I don't think they even call it that any more.  Very sad.  And it always said in Swedish.  Too many changes.  😔

    The program today was LL & a report with lots of photos & info on celebations & parades starting in late 1800s.  Then in 1941 they became our Hyllningsfest celebration, parade, meal, dancing, etc.  They skipped a few years during WWII.  She had great photos.  She did a great job!!!  I am always surprised when I am 

there and people talk to me  to say they are glad to see me.  I like it though.

    Second was lunch at the White Peacock with LL.  I had my usual biscuits & gravy with green iced tea with raspberry in it.  I did manage to get us a table.

    Then I went to the SVAFC to work all afternoon.  MH saw me before he got to the Peacock so I got let in early.  It was a fun afternoon.  JH was painting etc at the Peacock & all his supplies were in the SVAFC in our backroom..  He was in & out all afternoon with a few breaks to sit & chat.  Not for long though.  Busy!!! Before he left I told him how thankful I am he is there & we chat.  He is one of the best.  I am very thankful for his friendship.

    After work I checked on MM at the Stuga.  But he was not there.  He had a bad moment around 5am & someone took him to his doctor in Salina.  I called to check on him.  I worry about him.

    Supper was at home.  Love having my potato sallad.  Will keep calling grocery orders in so I can have my fave foods.  And find new ones.  I have missed that.

    It was hot today.  Around 91F.  The humidity was deadly.  Felt awful.  Glad I do not have to work outside.  Hotter for a day or so then a cooler.  Rain on maybe sunday. Then weather is changing & swirling different way around bringing rain around the 4th.

    I know I am not working on July 4th.  MH said he would.  Does not matter to me.  I do not go to our local celebration in the park,   With mosquitos.  Better to stay home.  Have a bite tonight.  Ick.  The city does no fireworks.  I just ignore it all.  No family to spend time with so who cares.

    There is something that LL & I are watching way out in Goodland.  Making plans for a trip there.  It is 3 hours to there so it is doable in one day.  Something that is being built that it will be fun to see.  In the planning stages now.

    Photos are so-so today.  The laptop & phone did not sync today.  Irritating.

05/2025 Fredag the 30th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Large fire in Canada that is affecting Kansas.  The smoke has made it here.  The sky in the west today was quite hazy.  It will bother my breathing for sure.  Photo is an actual photo of the smoke.

Today's Name Day:  Vera, Veronika

    What a busy day!!!  I took an anxiety pill to help me sleep last night.  Worked great!  I had to get up extra early  ----  around 8am.  Went to my Swedish Friendship Group.  I was president for 11 years of it.  Once I stepped down, I quit going.  Too many changes.  Still are but I am better at ignoring them.  One change they made I completely ignore & do not participate.

    I was soo surprised how many members greeted me.  I was really surprised.  One lady who treated me like we were best friends but I was clueless who she is.   THEN I figured it out.  A good friend's sister that I really do not know.  Told her we need to eat out some time!  She agreed.

    Today the program was the new college president.  She seems very good.  Hope she is.

    LL & I had lunch at the White Peacock.  I had biscuits & gravy.  Love them!!

    Then MH unlocked the door for me at the SVAFC.  Good to have a new show.  All art is done by local people.  Great show.  I got all my photos taken of it all.  Had a fair amount of visitors.  The boss was there a long time too.  I had no time to get tired.'

    After work I stopped at Pizza Hut to get a sallad to take home for supper.  Perfect meal.  I love it.

    Too hot today. Over 80.  And I got everything done I needed to before leaving this morning  -----  except turning the AC on.  Big error.  House was 80 inside.  Poor cats!!!  Down to 76 now.  We all are happy.

    Last night I got to looking at an album of old, old family photos.  If I could go back.  How I miss those lovely people.

    Work again tomorrow.  Gives LL & I time to chat girl talk.  AP always has saturday off.  Or business talk!  I look forward to it.

Sheltering in Place, Mood Of Silence, Day 361....

 

A sort of cool day. High and low both in the 40's. Drizzle, fog, rain. Nothing major. Still in a flood watch. Wind has come up now.

Very fatigued today. Probably has to do with the weather. My Sjogrens is a pain. Constant dry mouth. And no amount of lotion helps my dry skin.

Short text with one friend. No video chats or calls. Such is my life.

Always be kind to others.

Photos are some I took in the near past. The last two are from my Swedish group. We will never be like that again. It has changed 100%. Sad.

Sheltering in Place, Mood Of Silence, Day 235......

 An OK day. Had to move to the soffa in the early morning. Then I slept better.

I had an appointment to get new glasses since my eye surgery. One cannot walk in any more. I found a pair right away. Sometimes it is hard to find something I like at my doctor's. Small store in a small town and a small market. But I got lucky today. If the virus was under control I would go look in Wichita. Medicare is supposed to pay some on new glasses after cataract surgery. Almost a joke. They do not pay much. I also had new lenses put in some older glasses I love.

Then I stopped in my accountant's office to sign some tax papers. No money for that but I needed to pay him for his  services. Yikes!!!

I tell you what. I spent money today like I have it!!!

That was my day. So exciting. Never talked to anyone today. Tried to sit outside and kept getting bit by some small bug.

I spent the other day changing my FB. I divided people up. There are some I never ever hear from so they are in a group that really sees nothing I post and I do not see theirs. Better than unfriending. No need to hurt feelings. People I do talk to are either in just a friendly, fun group or a political group or in a small group of those I trust with my feelings/life. I have a couple of friends I would like to add but we do not agree politically. I can friend them and not offend them.

Got an email that the church our Swedish group meets in has cancelled all meetings due to Covid. I have my historical meeting next week. I do not want to go. Small area. Just the board meeting should be ok but during the program will not be good. Not all will wear a mask. Even if we demand one, they will wear to get in and then take it off. Or wear it down under their noses. I will be home.
