15 January, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

A quiet day.  I know I slept ok but I felt like I slept poorly.  Probably because I was up often.  Nico would go out. Cinder came in.  Then Cinder wanted out.  Then Nico would go out & Cinder back in.  I finally let her in & ignore when she wanted out.  Then she came & snuggled up to me in bed the rest of the night.  She stayed close all day, but outside.  I just let her in but no clue where she went.  Not in the living room.

JR and I had lunch at Jalisco's.  Nice & quiet when we got there but around noon when the churches get out, people just take over the place.  We get up & leave so someone else can sit down.

My hip/back/leg pain continues.  Third day.  Not much helps.  A front moved in & I hope that is it.  I need to move my new room heater in & JR will help me tomorrow.  Do not think I can do it alone.  I hate being needy.  But no choice anymore.

It was almost 60F today & cloudy.  The radar showed rain here after supper, but nothing hit the ground here.  Rain or snow midweek.  Looks we will get little of anything.  Hope I am wrong.

California is getting more rain than they can handle.  And a news report says that most of that rain will end up in the ocean, not ending drought.  Sad.

I just took care of me this afternoon.  I had a hygge moment.  In my house there is no hygge anything.  My wreck of a house just represents how I am inside my mind & life.  But today I lay on the sofa & did not care when I got up.  I curled up in a couple of blankets & Nico was snuggling.  Feeling a bit better.  Less pain at the moment.

Photos are of snow years ago in town & a couple out where I live.  The others taken in town & at the Red Barn Museum.

03 December, 2022 Wandering & Capturing Moments

I slept fair last night.  The usual trouble falling asleep.  Nothing new.  My right hip decided to give me lots of grief.  No position felt good.  Not much fun.

This morning just as the alarm was about to go off, I heard a strange sound outside & so did Nico.  He started barking but I kept hearing the noise.  It was pheasants talking right next to my house!  Wow!  Fun to see the out my window.  I let Nico bark while I started on my makeup.  Left part of it for later.  Eyes were really watery today.

This afternoon I worked at the Red Barn Museum.  I used to work there before I had knee surgery.  I miss it.  Today all I had to do was remind all our guests to sign our guest book.  I went in at    130pm.  The morning was really busy.  We were busy for a while also.  After 4pm it slowed down.

Today in Lindsborg it is the yearly Artist Open House. There are artists all over town.  Some have studios out in the country so they find a business to do their art in.  And sell.  We had one artist today in the Red Barn.  We have had as many as 3-4 in the past.  I decided with all the flu going around I needed to wear my mask.  And Covid also.  No more being sick.

A couple of days ago I got a text from someone who did not sign their name.  I asked who it was.  Turned out it was a good friend who used to live here!  Great to hear from him.  When he lived here he did not have a car for a while so every sunday I drove him to whatever church he was singing at.  Then we ate out.  He was close to my mother also.  I have missed him.  Glad we are connected again.

A couple came in to tour our museum.  The second time or so she walked by me she told me she loved my hair.  What a nice thing to do.  Made my day.  I rarely get a compliment from anyone I know.

Really cold last night.  Got down to 14F.  Stayed in the 30s today.  No wind.  What a relief.  Strong winds quit around midnight.  No moisture forecast until around thursday.  Won't amount to much I am sure

Photos today are from the Red Barn.  Much of what is in the photos are art made by the owner of the former studio.  We also had musicians playing for us today.  They are either from the high school or college.  Very nice.

27 august, 2022 Wandering

Last night was a 1000% better!!!  I went to sleep early & went back to sleep after having Nico outside.  And less pain.  It was welcomed.  Today my allergies are much worse.  No fun.

My cousin, ND, has been around here taking care of her granddaughter. Today she left for home & stopped for lunch with JR & I.  We met at Jalisco's.  Not busy today.  Wonder what changes from day to day.  Interesting.  It was fun to see her & visit.  I miss Denver & want to go back.

After she left for home, I went to the Red Barn to see my artist friend, RG.  He goes home tomorrow.  We had a nice visit.  And I got to see the work he has done while here.  I am lucky to have several of his works.  He sent me one after Willie died.  It was of a strong woman & he says I am a strong woman.  I have no choice anymore.

There was rain west of us all night.  Moved so slow.  Never got here.  I checked before ND left & it had grown.  I got home & it was wet here but none in town.  I laid down to rest & heard a shower then.  Now there is rain headed here.  A surprise.  See if we get something.  It was warmer last night at 73F.  Our high was 86F.  When the clouds & rain came to my house the temp dropped to 69F.  No wonder I felt cold!!  I sat out with Nico a bit ago.  It is 74F out now.  Feels chilly & wonderful!!  If it could just last!!

The squirrels have started harvesting acorns off my tree.  We have quite a few on it considering our weather.  They have a routine they go through.  They pick one in the tree & chew the shell off.  Then they run across my roof to the other side of the house & run down a tree there.  They bury the seed near that tree.  Then later in the day the dig up all the acorns they can find to rebury further away from my house.  Busy little guys!!

Cinder here most of the day & so was the black cat.  I gave her food but he most likely hogged it all.  Will try again later & sit out while she eats.

When I left Jalisco's CT & I went through our routine of saying goodbye & him asking when I would return.  I told him tomorrow!!  He was all excited!!  Three days in a row!!  Nice someone is excited to see me!!!

Photos are from today.  Art & clouds.

30 june, 2022 Wandering

Hot again.  Old news.  Humidity is low & we have a breeze.

I went to Salina to see my financial advisor.  His office in downtown.  But all the cement in town with temps at least 95F was horrible.  Had a good meeting.  He is the best guy I know.  We talk money & many other things.  He helped me with my taxes today.  We made some decisions about my savings.  I need to see him more often.  He says things about me that just cannot be true.  Nice to hear but if they were true I would have friends.  Even family.

I had planned to go to my grandson's place to shampoo my hair.  But I stopped at a salon in Salina.  New place to me.  Got in quickly.  But the girl I got said she has no idea how to style hair.  Huh???  So I just had a nice shampoo & she dried my hair with no style.  Not pretty but I can redo it tonite or tomorrow.  It will be fine.

No Cinder here this morning but when I got home she was here.  I fed & watered her.  And we loved each other.  She is a special cat.

This noon I was standing on the porch & a bluebird flew through my yard.  They are never in my yard.  The are the most striking blue.  He made my day.

Still saw a couple of combines cutting today.  The wheat in one field was pathetic.  So sad.  And yesterday a combine near Salina caught fire & burned up.  Driver was ok.  It happens when the machine shoots a spark.  Sad.

Photos today are from where I used to work, The Red Barn Museum & former home of artist Lester Raymer.  He built this house & all art seen in my photos are made by him.

Wandering, 16 january 2022

A warm day!  Saw 10F last night but this afternoon was in the 50s.  It was still white in large areas this morning but not this afternoon.

This morning it was brisk and cold.  Skies were cloudy.  My pond still frozen.  No waves.  The prairie was calm.  That is the best.  Love the peacefulness.

Our storm is moving across the rest of the US.  I have a friend in upper NY.  I hope she will be ok.  I am worried.

I had lunch at Jalisco's.  They seemed to be busy.  I saw 2 large groups.  Good to see my friends there.  And glad to see they all have masks on.  And use hand sanitizer often.  JR was with me.

JS was working alone today and kept busy.  When we got there I had a surprise gift for him.  He likes anything with bears or Aztec designs.  Being Mexican he is also part Indian.  I saw a cool ceramic mug I really liked on Etsy.  As I am looking for it, I saw one with a bear on it.  Just perfect.  And it came right away.  I think he liked it.  He showed everyone what I gave him.

I have more pain today and because I took a pill to help me sleep I was extra tired after lunch. Got up and went out with Nico.  We stayed out for a while.  Just missed my nephew.  It was nice outside.  Nico checked to see who or what had been there!

Photos are more snowy ones from town and the Red Barn Museum.  I miss being there often.  Also a foggy photo of the hill near my home.  And a couple of photos from town.
