01/2026 - Onsdagen den 28:e - MY JOURNEY

In Sweden, birthdays and name days of some members of the Swedish         Royal Family are official flag days. For example, the name day of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden is celebrated on January 28.

Carl Gustaf was born on April 30, 1946 to Prince Gustaf Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten, and Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. His father never ascended the Swedish throne because of his death in an airplane crash in 1947. Carl Gustaf became Crown Prince at the age of four and ascended the throne at the age of 27 upon the deaf of his grandfather, Gustaf VI Adolf, adopting “For Sweden – With the times” (För Sverige – i tiden) as his motto.

Although King Carl XVI Gustaf was born on April 30, his name day is celebrated on January 28. Sweden has its own name day calendar adopted by the Swedish Academy, in which almost every day of the year has a corresponding name. The current name day list was adopted in 2001. Although it has no official status, many people in Sweden celebrate their name day. Name days of the king, the queen, and the heir apparent were officially proclaimed flag days.

On flag days, the national flag of Sweden is flown on all public flagpoles and buildings from sunrise to sunset. However, flag days are not public holidays. They are ordinary work days unless falling on a weekend.

Today's Name Day:  Karl,  Karla
Known several Carls & my neighbour's daughter is Karla.

I had a full day.  After a goodnight I went back to work.  I almost forgot how to comb my hair & put on makeup!!
Good to be back at work.  But it started out with trouble.  I would scan one photo & all was well.  Then scan another one & it was a giant blue blob.  I finally unplug whatever is plugged into my scanner.  Then & only then would it work good.
I have been doing photos from the Smolan school in 1978.  One photo was of all the teachers.  I knew 1 & recognized 2.  I posted it on Lindsborg Nostalgia.  And it did not take long & the names started coming in!!  I have all but one.  It was fun.
Supper was at Jalisco's.  Nice to relax with good food  & friends.
I was scared to drive home.  I got stuck in my drive last night.  It was awful.  I am not religious at all but I truly believe we all have angels & spirits around us.  I did some desperate talking to mine.  I finally got to my house.  Whew.
KN told me I should have no trouble but to call him if I got stuck again.  I had no trouble!!  We both were relieved.
MM has been sick for a couple of days.  Slow to feel better.  A bit better tonight.
I had photos all picked out for tonight & they were not synched in.  So upset. But they finally showed up.  They are just local shots.  I am trying to not post so many.  These are from in town.

Remains of a tree by a sidewalk.  I always hope that no falls on it.

No swimmers today!!!

23 march, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

Really have little to say today.  It was quiet here.  Stayed far too warm overnight.  But we all slept good.

Cooler weather is coming & even a chance of snow/rain.

A front has arrived here from the west.  I did not have to watch the weather to know that.  Any place on me that could hurt certainly hurt today.  No fun.  My hip had not hurt for a week or more but bad today.  When I laid down to rest on the sofa there was no comfy position.  Finally Nico & I moved to our bed.  Then I could lay without much pain.

Nico, Cinder, & I sat out for a while this afternoon.  It was nice.  Nico rolled in the grass & they ran & played.  Cinder always rolls all over.  They laid together also.  Nice being out.  Lots of cattle near my yard.  They are calving now.  Fun to see the little ones.

Photos today are of churches I have seen & photographed.  Most near here but some in Sweden.  A few years ago several of us toured several churches starting in Victoria KS.  Awesome churches to see.  We ended up in Hays.  I miss those days.  They were fun.

Sheltering in Place, Mood Of Silence, Day 370....

A wet soggy day. Finally. We were not left out. Rained since early morning. Quite steady rain. Think we have had about 1.13 inches of rain.

Nico is not happy. Took him out 4 times to potty and nothing. The 5th time he was desperate. Picked a spot and walked in a circle 4-5 times and then success.

I feel ok but still extra fatigued. JS was a waiter tonight and asked us to eat in tonight. Then our friend GE joined JR and I. Good visit. Not seen her for several weeks.

I was supposed to work an art show last Sunday but still had a fever. Now they asked if can work on Saturday. Great! I am excited. All I do is make sure no art walks away.

Always be kind

Photos today are of my church. One window is for my great great grand father, Jan Jansson but changed to John Train. He was a charter member. Was an early member of town. When I die I will be buried near him and his wife. I feel then I have some full circle.

Sheltering in Place, Mood Of Silence, Day 279....

Quiet day. Not feeling up to par. Nothing major-Could be my gallbladder or the gummies I take. They have one ingredient that can bother my stomach. Only take at bedtime.

Cold last night and warm today. Calm out.

I had plans for late afternoon but cancelled. Tired of having no life .

Lucky to video chat with JS twice yesterday and once tonight. Nice to talk to him and see him. Hard when someone is important in your life and never see them. But that is common with the virus.

Speaking of the virus, my church is now completely closed. The preacher and secretary have both been exposed to Covid. Not sure they are sick just quarantined. We have not had services except online for months. I know one other church that has started having in person services with quite a few cars there on sunday. Scary. Not me. I have a board meeting in January I will go to but not happy about it. There is around 6 of us and I am scared. I have learned to trust no one. One member has Covid now. Dang. Mask does not move and I sterlize my hands every few minutes.

Photos are a mix. Always some Christmas.
