08/2025 - Martes the 5th - JOURNEY

 

Ljusnan River in central Sweden.  Cousins live near the river in Hälsisngland.  They own the beach.  On the dock is my cousin.  Now an adult.

Today's Name Day:  Alrik, Ulrik

    Had a bad night.  I had little sleep although I felt ok today.

    I had a hair appt in Salina.  No clue how to get there.  Paved road to Salina was closed to replace a culvert.  Could not get on Interstate due to a missing bridge over the interstate.  There was a road near me I thought would go all the way to Hiway 4.  Wrong.  I finally found the Smolan Road.  Coming home I took interstate then go on the Falun Road.  For a while it was ok.  Then it was closed do to replacing another culvert.  I went out of my way & got back to the Falun Road.  But I did see that the road to Lindsborg is now open.  Will save me time going to work.  Yay!!

    MM two oldest sons got home today.  My great grandsons.  Got a video message from the oldest. Very special.  Have it saved. 

    MM had an awful family loss last night in ICT.  Scary with the kids there.  I feel really awful for the family.  Glad he does not live there anymore.  Not safe at all.

    Warmer today but quite cool overnight.  Warmer each day through friday almost up to 100F.  Then cooler & maybe rain next weekend.

    Missed trash day today so I need to feel better to get trash out to the bins.  Wish I had backup.  None for me.  I am sooo tired of summer.  I hate the heat, humidity, & bugs.

Photos from Sweden.  First one is me at a crayfish party, next is me with a statue of a snaphaunce or highway man.  He was explained to me when I was there.  The third is me & a rune stone in a pasture.  Owner built a way to walk over the ditch to stand by it. And the last photo is me standing on the borders of Norway & Sweden.  Think we ate lunch across the street.  And our first experience with hamburgers in Sweden.  Not like here.  They all have thousand island dressing on them.  Very good.

04/2025 Tisdag the 22nd - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Today's Name Day:  Allan, Glenn

Glenn is a special name of a long time friend to Willie & I.  Know several Allans.

    Had a good day but too hot.  Luckily no wind.  Weather right now is severe warnings and thunder has started.  Not wide spread but here.  There are 2-3 other areas not near here.

    Had a hair appointment today.  Love being pampered.  Had a cut, color, & style.  Most other stylists are maga supporters.  So my stylists & I cannot talk.  No need to start a fight.  And we listen to their conversations that are less than intelligent.  Sad.  But they are all Catholic so no bad comments about the Pope.

    I took a nap when I got home.  Tired.  Woke up with major shaking & heavy sweating.  Had very low blood sugar.  Quickly took a couple of glucose pills & fixed supper.  Feel better.  Not been that low in a long time. Scary.  Lucky I woke up.

    Yikes!!! It is hailing here.  From dime size to quarter size.  Very loud!!! Storm warning until after 10pm.  Now strong winds.  Photo of MM's hand & hail. Same as mine here.

    Done for now.  More tomorrow from the Old Mill.  Want lots of flower photos from there unless the hail did then in.

003/2025 Torsdag the 13th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Salemsborg Lutheran Church & cemetery.  Was looking for a grave I could not find.  There is also an outdoor pulpit that still is used on occasion.  Get a photo later.

 

Today's Name Day:  Greger

    I slept ok last night.  But too much on my mind.  I have been reviewing past times with Willie & his friends, trying to imagine what I did to make most of them hate me.  There was maybe 2 couples who were nice to me to a point.  And a couple of single guys who seemed to like me.  I tried to be friendly but did not help.  I remembered one night in the bar with all the women sitting together.  They always made a point to talk about things I could not enter into ---- how they hated Lindsborg, Lindsborg schools, their kids, how they hated Swedes/Sweden.  At a lull in the conversation I very quietly & pleasantly asked if any one had been in Salina to the River Festival.  The one lady chose to almost shout to me that why would anyone go there, its too hot, too expensive, too many people.  A simple "it is not my thing to do" would have been ok.  But to yell at me was uncalled for.  That was the end.  I never again sat with them or talked to any of them.  I was done.  It was clear she did not like me.  Need to clear my mind.

    The high today was 81F & the low was in the 30-40s.  House stayed in the 70s.  Nice.  High winds tomorrow & cooler.  Seriously higher & scary winds on friday.  😱

    After lunch I found I just could not do anything right.  Absolutely nothing.  Will not go into detail. & point out my failings.  Someone should have been totally pissed at me but was not.

    I had hair appointment around 3pm.  I managed to kill enough time after it to get to Jim's County Style Chicken by 5pm.  I had a hot beef sandwich, macaroni & cheese, peach pie, & pepsi.  The best.  Must get there more often on thursday.

     When  we were farming I always went to Jim's for fried chicken meals.  Our one driver had a young grandson who would visit.  He loved friend chicken.  His grandmother told him the food was for workers only,  I told her there was plenty he could have all he wanted.  From then on whenever he was coming to visit, his grandpa always warned me.  I never disappointed him.  I wonder if he remembers.  Good times & memories.

    I have discovered a ton of pink little flags in my road & driveway,  Called KN to ask why.  He is clueless too.  Will get a photo tomorrow.

    Took a slow drive home from town.  Took some photos & looked for more.  I fought tears the entire time.  When I got home I sat in the yard & cried for a while.  May again soon.  Too many sad memories.

    No llamas here today.  They accidently got locked up.  😞. Hopefully I can see them tomorrow.  I should try to go pet them.  When I get brave!

Very old photo of Carl Aaron Swensson who with his wife started our college, Bethany College in Lindsborg.  Statue still on the campus but it has moved more than once. Several times.

Did a search & found this photo.  I took it in & uploaded it to Flickr in June 2012.  He is on a pedastal with flowers & you can see water coming out the sides of it.  There are flags now a ways behind him.

01/2025 Torsdag the 23h - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Today's Name Day:  Frej, Freja

    Had a good day.  No anxiety I am grateful to say.  Had my hair cut, colored, & styled.  Plus fun talking to Henry.  He is the best.

    Next to his station there was another stylist & customer.  Both are maga followers.  I tried not to listen but oh, my!!!!  They were talking about a 70-80 year old great grandmother who is pregnant.  They will believe anything.  OMG!!!  None too bright.

    It was a bit cooler today & last night.  We had a small bit of snow that amounted to nothing.  Sunny on the way home.  All roads are cleared but everywhere else lots & lots of white snow.

    Too many bags of trash in the house.  Saturday they go out.  No time before then.

    Having trouble with my laptop.  Said something to Henry.  Thank goodness I did.  He told me about a place I never heard of that can fix anything.  Great.  I stopped on the way home.  Laptop goes in on monday.  Can do that then head for Hutchinson to sign papers.  Then rest on tuesday.  Laser on wednesday.  Getting a bit nervous, but sooo ready.  Hope it helps.

    Have a candle burning for relaxtion.  Smells awesome.  Called Pink Snowscape.   Before bed I have a cup of hot apple cider.  Love it.  Relaxing also.
