08 march, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    I am better.  Finally.  Only a half day of Jammie Day.  Eating is better.  My stomach was iffy overnite but not this afternoon.  Nico & I had a nice nap.  So did the cats.

    I took a hot shower & shampoo that helped me feel a lot better.  Because of my Sjogren's my skin is terribly dry.  Flakey dry.  But after washing with some special moisturizing soap & then some special lotion, I feel pretty good.  Nice for a change.

    It stayed cool today & cloudy.  I liked it.  This morning when I got up there was one cow & her tiny calf near my yard.  They were walking to the west.  How sweet.  The little calf had to hustle to keep up!

    Yesterday was trash day.  But.  My trash was not picked up.  I called them to see why.  They said I had not paid my bill.  I told her that my bill comes out of my bank.  She looked & it was not set up.  It has worked for a couple of years or more.  Why did it disappear?  I paid with a credit card & then signed on to redo my account.  But they were not sure they could get a truck here before my next appointment in two weeks.  Great.  But I was shocked when this afternoon a truck was here & emptied my trash.  I paid a little fee.  Worth it.

    Very quiet day.  No texting or video chats.  I tried last night but never connected.  Not trying again tonight.  Maybe tomorrow.

05 june, 2022 Wandering

    Today was anything but good.  Rain & flooding last night.  Water splashed on me walking by my AC unit.  I assume it was coming from the roof into the AC unit.  Called my nephew & he checked it out & went to town & got tar & hopefully fixed it.  But I usually have only bad luck  Sometime in the future I will have to have my carpet removed & the floor repaired.  It is always something but never something fun.

    I got next to no sleep last night.  Stormed most of the night.  Did not get a huge amount of rain though.  Storms are approaching again now.

    I did have a nice nap.  I might as well never try to sleep.  Missed going to Jalisco's today.  With my sour mood they probably do not miss me in the least.  I did tell one of them how bad things are but not a word today on how I am.  Perfecto!!  )-;

    I noticed a mushroom in my yard yesterday & today it is huge.  I took photos of it.

    My day has been spent watching fútbol.  The first match was actually in Kansas City Kansas. Cool.  Friends were there probably to celebrate their son's.  They shared videos of being there.  That match was the US & Uruguay.  Ended with no score.  Now watching Mexico & Ecuador in Chicago.  No score yet.  At least I can watch in the tv.  I miss my Wichita team.  Those days are gone.  Hope the local college has a good season.

    Have not dared to drive down my drive to see how bad it is looking.  I may be home until the rain quits.  Rain forecast all week.

    Decided I might as well blog early today.  Nothing more will happen tonight.  I hope!

    I watched a large area of rain last night.  It went from Nebraska down through Oklahoma.  When it got sort of close to here, it was mostly gone.  I finally went to sleep after that.  Then later I heard it rain.  Where did that come from???  It rained more than I imagined.  My rain gauge had 2.5" in it.  And my driveway was under water.  Looked quite deep from my porch.  I waited until after lunch then I decided it was taking its time to go down & no change in it.  I was supposed to work at the SVAFC  from 3-5pm.  I wanted to make sure they had time to find a replacement.  I took a nap and looked again.  Driveway is clear but the pasture is still full of water so I am sure water is still running under my drive.  I cannot tell if more of it was washed away.  Will check tomorrow.  If I can get out.  Missed work and Jalisco's today.

    A bit warmer today.  It is 80F right now.  And humid out.  With all the rain, of course.  The fur kids & I are all lazy.  Nico was up briefly & now asleep.  Cinder has to get up on the porch railing where I am leaning against.  Then I can rub her & she likes to touch noses with me.  Sweet girl.

    There is a couple of things I wanted to write about & have thought better of it.  Whining is ugly!!

03 june, 2022 Wandering

    So far a better day.  I had plans but decided not to do them.  Tomorrow will be fine. 

    Very nice weather.  Pleasant temps.  Not too warm nor cold.  And no wind or rain.  Yet.  Storms in eastern Colorado now that might reach the middle of Kansas by tomorrow morning.  And again sunday night again.  I have no complaints about moisture.  Been a long time with nothing.

    My nephew's wife AN texted me with photos of their kids in each a kayak on the pond by my house!  How fun!!  Need to see them when I do not have Nico with me but do have my phone.  Cool to have a photo or two!

     I slept pretty good last night just took a me awhile to fall asleep.  I took an extra long nap today.  Not tired just depressed.  Worse than normal.  Feel ok now.  No real pain today.  But with several cold fronts moving through here, that might change.  There is always something.

    Yesterday I saw 4 turkey vultures and even heard a Bobwhite quail.  I love them.  They song sounds like "bob....white'.  I read that where the quail nest, the males who have no mate sit around the edges & sing to remind the females they are there if something happens to their partner.  Sort of a sad song then.

    I have a new favorite group I belong to called Coffee & Rain.  The coolest photos.  Searched some free photos & found several about the same.  Those are my photos today.  I am not a big coffee drinker since I would have to drink alone.  But in Sweden that was almost all I drank.  Be fun to have a coffee group to be with.  I did years ago but no more.  I am ok with being just me.  Don't have a choice.

    Not a bad day but ended not so good.  Not going to write much.  Great weather. Time with JR.  Rain starts Saturday night.

    Will write a real blog tomorrow.  Having a tough time realising a couple of things.  Only important to me.

01 june, 2022 Wandering

    I had a really quiet day.  Not hardly any sleep last night due to severe back & leg pain.  I am so tired of it.  Dang.  I cancelled my entire day.  Just not up to anything.

    Great weather today.  No rain last night.  It was close but no rain here.  Wichita & area had bad storms.  Large hail & heavy rains!  They had 500 calls about stranded cars.  Still picking up cars today.  Many farm animals had to be rescued from the deep water.  We have more rain forecast for saturday, sunday, monday & tuesday.  Maybe our drought is on the way to being turned around.  For now anyway.

    I found my hall by my back door very wet.  I blamed Nico at first but not him.  Rain came in with the strong winds & heavy rains.  Dang.  Not too bad of a mess.  I had a blanket in the corner for Kisse.  It soaked up most of it.  Washed it last night.

    My brother JR had the nerve to write me that PM refused to give his Jalisco night up because I am sickly.  They ate without me!!  How could they??  JR did say that JS missed me.  Nice that someone did!

    I noticed last night that the water running over my driveway was not a gentle little stream.  More like a raging water fall!  The north side of my drive where the water flows has washed out.  Kind of bumpy but I can still drive over it.  And my nephew just fixed it with lots of rock.

    My photos tonight are all some shade of pink.  I am in a pink mood & with the awful things in this world the pink is comforting.  

    The cocktail picture of a cranberry juice & Swedish vodka.  Very good.  One summer years ago Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev, final leader of Russia, visited out town.  What an honor.  He gave a speech that I went to.  Afterwards he went to our local bar & this is what he ordered.  They did not tell him the vodka was Swedish & not Russian.  Was called a Gorbatini.

                    

 

31 may, 2022 Wandering

    OMG!!! What a night!!  There was severe weather near us but kept moving away.  But finally it grew & expanded about the time I went to bed.  I cannot remember such rain!!  A few days ago I had almost 5 inches of rain but that was over 2 days.  Last night I had 4 inches within a few hours.  My bedroom window looked like there was someone on the roof with a water hose going full blast.  Just a sheet of water, no drops of rain to be seen.  Lots of lightning and thunder.  Plus on time period of strong winds.

    My nephew worked on the pond south of my driveway.  I assumed that it would no longer overflow & flood my driveway.  Was I ever wrong!!  When I left the house this afternoon I could see the drive was under lots of water at one point.  The mud shows up before getting to the area where the water flows under my drive & on the other side.  The mud showed how deep it was.  Scary.

    The road I take to Lindsborg is called Burma Road.  There were signs in 2 areas that it was flooded.  Two areas I have never seen flood before.  There were photos on FB today.

    I doubt we get rain tonight.  Severe weather south of here moving NE.  But one never knows.  Supposed to have rain tomorrow.  I will debate if I go to work or not if it is too much.  I might get to work but maybe not get home.  Just cannot leave the kids without food or water.

    My grandson, CF, & I texted last night and decided to meet for supper tonight.  He has moved back here from Oklahoma.  He is doing landscaping work now.  We had a nice meal & visit.  Jalisco's is so nice to go to.  Everyone calls you by name and asks how you are.  CT aways has to shake my hand when I get there and a fist bump when I leave.  JS always has to tease me.  And if I am lucky, a long chat.   Had a chat with MA tonight.  Always good.  We talked about the Tequila Train in Mexico.  A dream of mine!!

    After leaving Nico alone this afternoon he is dead to the world.  Odd.  Wonder what they were doing while I was gone!?
