04/2025 Tisdag the 02nd - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

This is Marstrand, an island in Sweden.  I stayed here for almost a week..  Love it but think it ruined a friendship of mine.  I am sorry for that.  I ate breakfast in front of the yellow building.  Lunch was in the white building to the left.  Great pizza!  Walking up the hill by this building took me to where I had a room.  The blue in front of this building is the ferry you took back & forth to the mainland & the island.  My heart is still there, friend or no friend.

    Well, I survived 3-4 tornado warnings last night.  My nerves were beyond stressed. The radar was scary & so was the weatherman on the tv.  At one point I thought the radar looked like I was safe.  Went to bed & just got comfy & the alarm on my iPhone went off.  Yikes that would wake the dead!!!  I got back up, put on my shoes, & turned the TV back on.  It all came so close to me here but always missed.  I had no wind & only 0.37" of rain.  I ended up sleeping ok once all was said & done.  I took no meds but slept in street clothes ---- in case.

    That storm that was here is now in Kentucky.  I have a cousin living there.  I looked up his radar & it looks scary.  Hope he keeps texting me & stays safe.  So far ok.

    Something loud & low is flying over my house.  Sounds like a helicopter.  I am sure military.  Bomb range has been busier than usual the last week or so.  Whatever it is has been over me now 3 times.  Like living in a war zone.

    Today was a work day.  So glad to be back.  I finished one envelope of photos of  business buildings.  Very boring.  Starting a new envelope of high school kids hanging Christmas lights in 2001.  Then photos of that year's Christmas parade.  Many, many things in it.  Not sure it is that large now.  I even shared one photo on Nostalgia.  Just a cute one.

    Supper was Mexican.  I was starving so I had carne asada.  One of my faves.  Then ice cream with no chocolate.  Blood sugar is out of control.

    When I got home the cattle were by my driveway.  And all the sweet little calves.  They were curious about me & running & chasing each other!  No photos.  They were moving too fast!  Try another day.

    This morning I saw 2 quail in my yard.  Haven't seen them in my yard for years.  Very cool!!  Hope they stay close.  I can always hear them in the summers.  Actually what I hear are the male quail who site on the edge of where the families nest.  Just in case a male quail dies he is there to take his place.  

    Plus I now see my Antlions are back.  They are unseen during the cold weather.  Last year I could count sometimes almost 40 ant traps.  Google antlions.  Interesting little bug.

    I was sooo tired I came home & took a short nap.  I think all my stress during the storms took its toll on me.  The cats stayed with me.

    Checked my blood sugar when I woke up.  And it was too low.  Guess I could have had the chocolate.  I ate something that I hope helped.  Will check later.

    No work tomorrow.  Lunch with friends & then doc in Hutch for medical supplies.  I see her at the end of the month.  I desperately need to see her.  Blood sugar is awful.

    Weather today was nice.  Warm & calm.  A blessing.

This is Ling Auditorium on the Bethany College campus years ago.  Huge crowds could enjoy concerts in it.  It burned down one sunday.  It was all wood.  Little chance to save it.  This is painted by my friend John Bergers & is my painting.

03/2025 Måndag the 31st - Wandering & Capturing Moments.

 

From an art show I worked at.  Loved it.

Today's Name Day:  Ester, Noa

Ester is a beloved name.  Mom had a friend & that was her first name.

    Had a good day.  Supposed to have lunch with MM but AM was not feeling well..  We let him sleep & will eat another day.  Missed them.

    I had big plans for today ---- moving boxes to the trash.  But the wind is supposed to be near 20mph over night.  Nope.  I could put some small boxes in the second bin but my back is not wanting to do that.  I will listen to my body.  Always a smart thing to do.

    Before my nap I noticed that I had the room heater on & it was quite warm!!!  House was cold early morning.  Turned the heater off & turned the AC on when I lay down.  Comfy now.

    Had a nap with both cats on the bed with me.  Always nice to be a threesome.  They are still back there being lazy.  Maybe they have spring fever.

    The weather is not good for us here.  They have changed the severe weather for tomorrow night has gotten worse.  They added an area in the middle where I live for more severe weather.  There are 5 areas of severity on their graph.  The alert was set at 1 & 2, the least severe.  We are now in 3.  Being in 3 of 5 is not good.  High winds (50 - 70) & large hail & possiblity of tornadoes.  Hope I can get some sleep so I can work on Wednesday.  In western Kansas there is a high fire danger.  I hate that.  Had a house burn down & several years ago the pasture closest to my house without warning started burning.  A pile of hay had been burned days earlier & was thought to be out.  But the cattle started digging in the pile & deep in it was still embers.  Had the fire department & friends near my house fighting it.  I was not scared & simply sat on my porch & watched.

    About supper time.  And I am hungry.  No big meal plan though.

National Cousins Day

I was the oldest cousin & never had anyone to play with or be friends with.  At family gatherings I sat with the women.  Far too young to join their conversation.  Lots of cousins in this area where I live, but never hear from any of them.  Not even when Willie died.  Denver cousins are the best.  Close to several of them.  And their parents.  If we had only lived closer.

Today's Name Day:  Kerstin, Kristina

    Had a quiet day.  Got no sleep last night..  Sunday night through tuesday I had lots of sneezing, coughing, scratchy voice, burning eyes.  Sure it is the smoke we are getting from the west in the US & Alberta Canada.  I don't smell it but it does show up in photos,  The last time we had smoke here I could smell it.  But never got sick.  Why is this time different?

    I took a long nap today.  Called in sick to work.  I hate to do that as I love being there.  But I was exhausted

    Last night my eyes so sore & felt swollen I could barely see my laptop or phone to read or write.  Tonight all is sort of ok.  For now.  It better be ok on friday so I can work.

    I was so exhausted I forgot to tell JR I was not eating out tonight,  So on top of feeling bad I now feel guilty. )-;

    Cinder was a mess last night.  I went to get her in for the night.  And she just could not make up her mind --  while bugs were surrounding the door.  I must have sounded angry as I loudly encouraged her to come in & she left,  I tried 5 or so more times calling her & no Cinder.  Finally around 1am she came in.  She has been out most of today. Temp was 98F.

    A friend who used to work at Jalisco's wrote me today telling me it ws 110F in Rapid City, South Dakota where he lives.  Yikes!!  He said he was missing winter & snow.  Me too.  He said I should move up there.  I would love to do that.  Where he lives looks a lot like Colorado.  Mountains not as tall..  It is gorgeous.  Be great to be there to see him & his family.

    Got home yesterday morining & saw my driveway had been mowed.  KN is the best!!!  I am lucky to have him & his family.
