002/2025 Måndag the 24th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Today's Name Day:  Mats, Mattias

Love these names.  They are forms of Matthys.  Have a dear friend with that name.  He lives in South Africa.  Miss him so much.

    Not  great day.  Slept ok but when I woke up my stomach was still sickly.  Did not feel like eating but I did.  Stayed in my jammies.  Who would care??  I am always alone so no one sees me.  Just my cats.  Actually feel some better right now.

    I did eat lunch without any trouble.  I have small cups I drink out of but today I chose a really pretty tall glass to use.  Maybe I will drink more.  And the water is still cold coming out of the tap.  Best part of winter.

    The house is way too hot!!!  It is 76F again.  Outside it is 71F.  Far too hot for now.  I just turned on the AC to see if that helps.  Back by my bedroom it says 79F.  I hate sun shining in the south windows.  At this time of year the sun is too low to the ground.  Summer it is overhead.  Makes a big difference.  Weatherman just said thunderstorms on sunday & monday.  That would be awesome!!!

    I tried to take a nap.  Kisse curled up on my stomach.  But did not stay too long.  Cinder is in the living room but sort of ignoring me.  Too hot to cuddle.  Plus has her nest just right.

    While watching my lunch tv shows Cinder managed to turn the tv power strip off.  Grrrr.  Lost part of one show I tape.  But working now.

    Had photos & lots of texting with KW today.  She & MM are no longer dating.  At least for a while.  Working out how to still see all the kids.  I got photos & video of SM blowing me a kiss & saying "I love you!"  Makes my day.  💓. I am lucky.

    Had a gas explosion in Hutchinson a couple of days ago,  Luckily no one was hurt.  Two workers had just left the building.  Think they smelled gas.  Lucky.  Areas around the blown up building are still forbidden for going to work or home.  Trying to let the gas escape & burn off.  They had an earlier explosion in 2001.  Worse than this one.

    Dang.  Now my living room is up to 77F.  No bueno!!!  😱

A very old old photo of Lindsborg's Main Street.  At the far end of the street is the Bethany Lutheran Church steeple.  Wish I knew who the people were.

A grocery store from long ago.  I was almost a teenager then.  You could call your order in & go pick it up or they would deliver to your house.  Service like that is rare today.  I remember the meat guy.  All meat was freshly cut & the best ever.  He was deaf I remember.  Super nice guy.  Be fun to have that kind of meat counter now.

01/2025 Lördag the 04th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Peaceful day.

Today's Name Day:  Rut

My grandfather Boppa had a sister Ruth.  But I remember her calling her Rut. (root)

    I had a mostly quiet day.  My family with my 3 great grandsons & grandpuppy are all in town & safe.  I can relax.  And they have made sure I am ok & have all I need.  No other family have checked on me as of yet.  My brother is staying home.  Too icy to get out.

    Ice started early this morning.  I planned to go get the mail from yesterday & today.  One look at the car's windshield changed my mind.  Heavy while ice.  Mail can wait.

    I have a new room heater so I made a place to set it.  And in the process gathered many pieces of art to move to the office.  Not a fun job.

    I ate late & food for the cats was late.  They did not eat much.  Not sure where Cinder is but Kisse is curled up next to me.  I like that she does that more often.

    I just got a message from a friend in South Africa.  He sang Happy Birthday to me.  Très spécial!!!!  He truly made my day!!! 💖. His birthday is New Years Eve.

    Need to set up my heater.  My next job now.

    No snow here yet.  Later tonight.  Depending who posts & what app I look at I have seen anywhere from 15 to 20 inches of snow.  Winds up to 40 mph or more..  Right now they are gusting to around 30 mph.  Hope our electricity does not go out.  I refuse to go anywhere until the temp is 30.  That will be on thursday.  Wednesday I have to be here to sign some incoming mail.  If the electricity holds, I will be ok.  My water is dripping & I have plentry of food.

    I have gathered trash but cannot get to the trash bins.  Hope all animals  are sleeping tonight & not up to making a mess.  😱

    TV sucks.  I have checked movies showing & they are beyond sucking.  Or I have seen them.  SNL rerun on now.  Never tire of it.

National Pastry Day

Name Day is Anna

    Quiet day for me today.   Nico let me sleep fairly good.

    We had mist/rain around bedtime last night.   Did not amount to much.

    Today in Lindsborg is an annual Christmas celebration.   There is Swedish dancing, pancakes for breakfast, many things at the Old Mill, singing, crowning Lucia, etc.

    Many years ago a great friend Matthys from South Africa would come to this country & work all summer.   He wanted to come to my town for a festival,   We spent the entire day in Lindsborg,   We watched dancing.   Took a photo of him with a couple of the dancers,   Went to Lucia,   We ate homemade spaghetti.   Spent lots of time at the Mill.   Attended a talk from a Tomte while Santa tried to get in & had to watch from a window,   Attended a concert of Christmas music.   In the evening we went to the college to watch The Nutcracker ballet.   It was a perfect day.   Willie would have never done anything like that,   Not even to make me happy.   Matthys & I are no longer as close friends as we were.   Life got in the way.   But we had one perfect day.

    Weather is in the 50s.   Calm early morning then increased closer to noon.   The pond was gorgeous with the sun & wind.   You could have probably surfed in it!!!

    I had a brief dream of walking with my all time best friend who died several years ago.   Pete.   Nice to "see" him healthy & with me.   I have never quit missing him.

    My neighbor to the north has parked a tractor in his yard near the road,   There are Christmas lights on it.   Got photos last night,   Will share tomorrow.   It is very cool.

    No nap today.   Kept busy.   Nico slept off & on,   Did not cause any trouble,

    Wish I had been in town for the festivities,    Would be fun.   But no fun to go alone & I cannot walk or stand much,   I should try but I don't.   I get too upset,   Cried most of the way home last night,   I cry looking at Nico,   Not a good year for holidays.   Or for me.
