08/2025 - Martes the 5th - JOURNEY

Ljusnan River in central Sweden.  Cousins live near the river in Hälsisngland.  They own the beach.  On the dock is my cousin.  Now an adult.

Today's Name Day:  Alrik, Ulrik

Had a bad night.  I had little sleep although I felt ok today.
I had a hair appt in Salina.  No clue how to get there.  Paved road to Salina was closed to replace a culvert.  Could not get on Interstate due to a missing bridge over the interstate.  There was a road near me I thought would go all the way to Hiway 4.  Wrong.  I finally found the Smolan Road.  Coming home I took interstate then go on the Falun Road.  For a while it was ok.  Then it was closed do to replacing another culvert.  I went out of my way & got back to the Falun Road.  But I did see that the road to Lindsborg is now open.  Will save me time going to work.  Yay!!
MM two oldest sons got home today.  My great grandsons.  Got a video message from the oldest. Very special.  Have it saved.

MM had an awful family loss last night in ICT.  Scary with the kids there.  I feel really awful for the family.  Glad he does not live there anymore.  Not safe at all.
Warmer today but quite cool overnight.  Warmer each day through friday almost up to 100F.  Then cooler & maybe rain next weekend.
Missed trash day today so I need to feel better to get trash out to the bins.  Wish I had backup.  None for me.  I am sooo tired of summer.  I hate the heat, humidity, & bugs.
Photos are many autumn photos.  They give me peace & hope.

Photos from Sweden.  First one is me at a crayfish party, next is me with a statue of a snaphaunce or highway man.  He was explained to me when I was there.  The third is me & a rune stone in a pasture.  Owner built a way to walk over the ditch to stand by it. And the last photo is me standing on the borders of Norway & Sweden.  Think we ate lunch across the street.  And our first experience with hamburgers in Sweden.  Not like here.  They all have thousand island dressing on them.  Very good.

002/2025 Lördag the 22th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

This float was done in honour of Anton Pearson.  In a Hyllingsfest parade I think in 1967.

Today's Name Day:  Martina

What a great day!!  Back at the Old Mill Museum working on a book of photos about Anton Pearson, a local famous artist.  Carved & sketched.  I am distantly related to him or some of his family.  I added 4 different photos to the Lindsborg Nostalgia group.  Had not done that in a while.  No photo worthy of being there & blizzards.
Great to see LL.  We had a lot to catch up on.  She had a Zoom telecast in the afternoon but there was a door closed between us.  I was careful what I turned on using my iPhone.  I was scared it might somehow connect & mess things up. Missed AP.  His day off.  But the new director was there for a couple of hours.  Saw her last night at Jalisco's.
Supper tonight was a Jalisco burrito I brought home last night.  Soo good.  I ordered two to eat.  Left most of the second one.  It heated up perfectly.
My donuts have gotten a bit hard, as usual.  I put them in the microwave for 20 seconds.  Perfect.  Nice & soft.
Tomorrow night is supper at Pizza Hut with friends.  JR will join us if he can.  He is clueless & won't know until tomorrow afternoon.
Texted with MM & email with a friend.  Nothing from anyone else.  Used to being ignored.  Even if I text someone I tend to be ignored.  Did ask someone to be a friend.  Thought we were but I guess not.  Hope she says yes.
Chilly last night but 44F today,  And sunny,  Really melted the icy streets in town.  Good.
Photos today are snowy photos again from the Mill, town, & my drive way.  I just used what I took.  There are too many!!!  Sorry!!!

02/2025 Torsdag the 06th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

Today Name Day:  Dorotea

Had a good day.  Nice.  Slept good with little pain. Up & dressed early in preparation for lunch out.
Went to Crown & Rye to meet 3 friends for lunch.  I am thrilled that these friends are including me to join them for lunches.  One is someone I used to work with, someone I do not know well, & my former boss at the Red Barn.  I enjoyed it.  Great conversation.  I ordered Swedish Pancakes.  They were so good even though they do not serve them as I am used to.  Dad & I always had ours with butter & sugar.  I can manage to do that eating out with JR but with new people I simply had syrup & lingonberries.
I stopped at one bank to deposit my pasture rent check.  Then home.  Cats were both napping & soon so was I!
It was a bit warmer today.  Did not need my coat.  But next week is another story.  Super cold temps, snow that might cause some trouble driving.  Two separate snow times.  OK with me.  I love winter & snow.
Cinder was napping in the living room while I napped.  When I woke up she moved to my. lap.  She is a great cuddler.  Kisse usually cuddles next to my lap.
My photos are snowy photos from Lindsborg from a few years ago.  The last two photos are from a pasture on the way to Hutchinson.  It looks a bit different now.  They have added some old tractors near the chapel.  Next time I go I will stop for new photos.

Historic house in town.  Built by a Jaderborg if I remember right.

Presser Hall on the college campus.  Offices & concert hall.  Great memories of singing in the Messiah Chorus, Mom singing from many years before me.  And the greatest director in Elmer Copley.

Statue of Carl Aaron Swensson who founded our Bethany College

Hemslöjd, a business in town with Swedish products.

Was a private home years ago now is our funeral home.  At one time my family owned it & was called Trains Funeral Home.  Long time ago.
A gazebo in the south park, Swensson Park.

Snow man made from a large round hay bale.

Chapel.  These are on the east side of the highway getting near Hutchson.

18 august, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

Today was a day of nothing.  Again.  Poor sleep last night so I had a short nap.  I need to just accept it.  Do not see any change coming.

A little warmer today.  Was in the mid 90s.  Tomorrow & sunday the forecast if 109.  Oh, joy.  Will be over 100 through thursday.  And no rain.  They think this will be our last super hot time.  Hahaha!

Had a video from MM & 2 grandkids saying HI.  So sweet!

An artist I love is here for a couple of weeks.  Talked to him today.  Will meet on monday for dinner.  Be great to see & talk to him.  Sure wish he lived closer.

Photos are nothing special.  They have a French flavor.

29 april, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

I am just sad today.  I knew that I would never be part of my granddaughter's family forever, but I miss them.  And I miss her.  But they have real family & no time for me.  She got nice weather for her wedding.  I will survive.  Wish her happiness & just to have one wedding not a string of them.

Sort of a cool night last night but far too warm today.  I saw 82F here today.  Had a light breeze too.  Sat out several times with Nico.  Cinder was asleep.  She is out now & turned down an invitation to come in.

There is a crack in the cement of my carport.  I have antlions that live there.  They fascinate me.  They burrow backwards into the ground to make a funnel type trap in the dirt.  They lay in wait there for for ants, etc. to fall into it.  And then they are eaten.  Found a few great vidoes.  Glad they are tiny & harmless to pets & people!!  I like to watch & see how many there are.  The most I have seen is 5.  I actually saw one funnel being built today.  Very cool.  They only live for 25 days.  Obviously I need to get a life!!

Took a nice nap & felt exhausted tonight.  So took another one.  Probably wedding blues.  My Swedish genes will help me survive.

The farm is sure lonesome here.  Most of the cattle & calves have gone to pasture for the summer.  How I miss them.  Little ones are so fun to watch play.  Hope there is enough grass to eat in our drought.

Our niece shared a video being on top of the hill in Willie's pasture.  I remember being there but years ago.  When his mind went he quit taking me anywhere for any reason.  But I remember.  Those days are over.  I will never be there again.  So glad I sold the farm to our nephew.  He will make our name one to be proud of.  Great guy!

I went to Salina for groceries at Dillons.  They are the best.  Worth the drive.  Just hate carrying it all in!!  Soo heavy!!

Tomorrow is May Day.  As a kid I remember making little baskets of flowers & hanging on our neighbour's door.  I do not every remember getting a May basket as a kid or adult.  I maybe did but have no recollection of it.  A cool thing to do.

    Photos are some I took.
