01/2026 - Onsdag the 07th - MY JOURNEY

Today's Name Day:  August, Augusta

Very familiar names to me.  Had relatives named August, male name.  Had an aunt Augusta.  And today a good friend named Agustin, a Mexican name.  Worked at Jalisco's but now lives back east working for his brother.  

    Had a great day!!!  Slept well with only 2 low sugars.  Ate & right back to sleep.

    Too warm today.  Saw 65F for a high. Stayed there all afternoon.

    Worked at the Old Mill.  My coworkers celebrated my birthday with drinks from the White Peacock.  There were pastries treats we had also.  Nice to be remembered.  Then on friday LL & I will lunch and she is paying.  This is my week!!!

    I had a box of school photos from Falun & Smolan KS.  I worked most of the afternoon to get it all sorted.  I put all the  photos with names together & those with no names together.  There was a large group of photos that looked like it would have been a great year book.  I knew all those kids & took photos for myself to keep.  There was a handwritten recipe book of cookie recipes.  Cute.  And there was a questionaire about Smolan.  I did not know the answers.

    There was a huge scrapbook from a local teacher.  Oh, for the articles, invitations, memories, & photos.  I knew this teacher.  Willie had her & so did our kids.  Plus I took care of her husband in the hospital.  She had an article about Falun & Smolan no longer using crank phones.  I got married in 1966 & we used crank phones for 10 years.  Think we were the last in Kansas using them.  So in 1976 we got modern.  I posted the article plus the teachers name.  And the comments I got!!!  I am still smiling!  So much fun!!!

    Supper was Jalisco's.  And my Mexican amigoes.  I had carnitas.  Ate with out stomache problems.  Then ice cream from Dollar General.  Perfect.

    We have rain forecast for tonight starting around 4am.  Even slight chances of thunder & lightning.  Maybe some wind.  Good!!!  Then thursday night snow moves in.  Yay!!!  Finally winter time.  My camera is ready for photos!!!

    Cats are napping again.  Cinder was here for some loving attention.  Kisse whizzed through here also.  Quiet now.

    Nice to be in a good mood.  Rare for me!!!  Helps to not focus on who has forgotten me & appreciating those who care.  Helps.

01/2026 - Tisdag the 06th - MY JOURNEY

 

The small photos are mine.

Today's Name Day,  Baltsar, Kasper, Melker

    Had a great day.  Slept good.  Pretty quiet though.  Several texts from MM.  Email from JL.  That was it.

    Had a list of things I wanted to do depending on how I felt.  Got it all done although one place had moved.  But found it ok.

    After lunch I drove to Salina  to pick up my new glasses.  I really like them.  Sturdier than the ones I have been wearing.  And a great color.  Very similiar to the pair I broke when I fell.

    Then off to Verizon to get a new iphone with lots of storage.  Had a nice guy help me.  He said the Iphone I have should be ok.  Well it is not.  I am always low on memory.  Take 3 photos & memory gone.  Then he tried to talk me into one with hardly any more storage.  I insisted I wanted one with  1 or 2 terabytes of memory.  He finally let me order one I wanted.  Gees.  Should not be so hard to get what I want.  He ordered me one & will be here in a week or so.  And the one I wanted is on back order.  No one wants those puny storage ones now.

    Too damn hot today.  Saw 65F at least.  How was an oven when I got home.  AC is on now but the temp is not moving.  It is 60F outside but stays at 76F in the house.

    Both cats were hiding when I got home.  No idea where they were sleeping.

    Weather is on now.  See how accurate they are.  Rain, then snow.  I am not excited yet.  They lie too often.

    Not in the mood for nasty comments on my group on Face Book,  Our Chinese restaurant is struggling to survive.  Good food but hard to get help.  Need repairs  in the kitchen now.  Not one supportive comment.  I deleted the snarky ones.  Too much negative stuff in life today.  I am sure it does not win me any friends.  Tough.

Wintry AI me again.  I used to have my hair all blonde.  Hard on it.  Then switched to red.  And eventually added red streaks.

Today's Name Day:  Noel, Holly

I have known both a Noel & a Holly.  

One name day list has no day on Christmas Day.  But an app I have showed some names.

    I have survived.  Finally feel human.  The day started very foggy.  Super dense fog that last until after lunch.  Beautiful!!  But scary to drive in.  A neighbout pulled out of his drive in front of me.  Not sure he even stopped to look.  He blended in the fog & I almost drove into him.

    I had to go to Lindsborg KS to run an errand for JR.  In return he had some groceries he shared with me.  Cinnamon rolls, pumpkin pie.  Yummy!!!!  I am ready for supper!!!

    I drove around town & took photos of areas of fog.

    On the way home I drove to the Smoky Hill Cemetery on Coronado Heights.  They have planted dozens of trees!!  Very cool.  I chatted with Willie.   I sure miss him & miss Christmas with his family.  Those were good times.  Now I am either alone at home or in  JR's office.  No family gatherings for me.  Chatted with Darren & John also.  This year our celebration is on Friday.  As long as I am still ok.

    I never thought to ask about the Old Mill if open on friday.  They are open but I won't be there.  Still Christmas for me & JR.

    Have a large group of friends celebrating in Mexico.  Lucky them!!!  I should have went when MA used to ask me to go with them.  Now it is too late for me to go anywhere.

    I am mostly over Christmas.  No more sharing photos about it.  I am done.  This year about did me in.  I definitely whined too much.  Got a little sympathy.  Or support.  Most people just do not care.  

    Maybe I can drive around town tomorrow & take some photos.  See if JR is in the mood.  But I can go alone.

    One guy on the news just said that he feels he is only 20 years old inside.  But if he tries to get up out of his chair he is suddenly feels 127 years old!!!  Boy do I know!!!

    It was warm enough today that many towns in Kansas broke high temp records.  Salina did not even get close.  Tomorrow is too warm also.  Cold on sunday.  No chance for any kind of  rain/snow for at least 10 days or more.  Back in drought mode.

    Still working on my Spanish lessons.  They got horrible for awhile & easier lately.  Nerve wracking!!!
