Bastille Day

Bastille Day is the common name given in English-speaking countries to the national day of France, which is celebrated on 14 July each year. In French, it is called the Fête nationale française; legally it is known as le 14 juillet.

On 14 July 1789, as social and political tensions rose across France, protesters took to the Parisian streets to express their opposition to their King and Queen. The mob grew in size and went on to attack the Bastille, a royal fortress and prison, leading to the eventual collapse of the monarchy.

This year’s celebrations will reach fever pitch as the Olympic torch arrives in the capital to great fanfare.

Today's Name Day: Folke

    Not a good day for me.  I got no sleep at all last night.  No idea why.  I had no cola type drink that keeps me awake.  I give up.  I finally got up 6am being tired of the bed.  Cinder went out then while it was still cool.  Got her back in at 11am before the heat hit.

    Cinder stayed in bed with me after lunch.  Not a good sleep.  No comfy position.  And my hip has started hurting again.  Time to get my heating. pad out.  Kisse stayed close also.  She layed in the window soaking up the sun rays.

    Horrid weather today.  My AC just cannot keep up.  House was in the upper 70s.  Outside I saw 104F.  Good grief!!  

    I was in no mood for supper but I have to eat to take my insulin.  Nothing tasted good.  The minute I get close to my fridge, Cinder is right next to me.  She loves my lunch meat.  I have to hand feed her one slice.  Spoiled kitty!!!  Must eat better tomorrow.

    Cinder has begged to go outside.  Nope.  Too hot.  When it got down to 92F, I let her out.  Feels awful.

    Strange weather last night.  I had several hours of lots of lightning & thunder.  Not even a hint of rain.  Huh???  Why not???  Stupid weather.

    Been texting with my friend AA.  He is in the hospital in Kansas City.  We are watching soccer "together" but miles apart.  I had it on in English but that does not sound right.  I switched it to Spanish.  I can pick out a word or two.  I like how it sounds.  Match between Columbia & Argentina.  Super late in starting.  People rushing to get in causing a dangerous situation.  Championship match.  The one announcer on is one I have hated for many years.  He was part of soccer on TV years ago when we barely had a national team.  One that our college could have beaten easily.  He is awful.  No score yet.

    Not had many texts today.  Mostly from AA.  Wish he was home so I could go to his house to watch soccer.   He was the best soccer player & captain of our team at the college.  And he cared about his team & players.  Those were good times.

19 july, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

 National Daiquiri Day

    Last night I totally ate supper all wrong.  Ate.  Then took insulin & ate again.  Not good for me.  Trouble sleeping & then felt ill in the middle of the night.  Did not go away.  Cancelled today.  Could not eat lunch at all.  Just the thought was awful.

    Took a long nap.  Felt good.  During it my nephew came over to cut out the trees next to my house.  Of course Nico went into hyper mode!!  He was scared to go into the bedroom where some of the trees were by the window.  So he ran back & forth on ME.  A bit hard to sleep!!

    My other grandson called today.  And he has a new job.  More changes.  All good though.  Hopefully we say goodbye on friday.  

    Yesterday we were supposed to be 102F.  Not even close.  But high humidity yesterday & today.  Next week is hot & dry.  See if they are correct.

14 september, 2022 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Last night was quite good.  Slept all night & only a tiny bit of pain this morning.  So nice for a change.  See what tonight does to me.

    Today was a work day at the Old Mill.  So glad to be there.  One of our gorgeous old old trees got sick & could not be saved, so it is gone.  But they are making all sorts of cool things out of the wood to sell.  I am excited to see what they are.

    I worked on more school photos.  I saved a couple of cool ones.  And I see a really old old one coming up next week.  I plan to share.

    For some reason part of the afternoon the time moved beyond slow.  I swear I saw 2pm on the clock 10 times!!!  Then it got better.  Weird.

    I ran errands before work & after work.  Scary when I am organized!!

    Tonight supper at Jalisco's.  They got really busy for a while.  JS knows the smoke from fajitas bother me.  So it is his goal to walk every single one by me as slow as possible.  People behind me ordered two, so on his way to deliver them, he stopped at our booth just to make sure all was ok with us.  I just love him more every day!!! 😆

    Weather was ok.  Nice breeze.  Our temps were 73F & 95F.  The weekend is to be hot but then cooler.  I am soooo sick of summer.  😱  I want autumn.

    Nico just about drove me to drink tonight.  He pottied, bonded with Cinder, had a cookie, dog food & a treat.  But he continued to just pester me.  Finally out to potty again.  Then he thought I should move out of my end of the sofa.  I refused.  He is now curled next to me.  Finally.

    Another gorgeous sunset tonight.  People who live near me were out standing near the road to see it.  I will share my photos.  Plus some pink photos.  I was in a pink mood, even my top is pink.
