World Arthritis Day

Today's Name Day is Manfred, Valfrid

    Just a day of rest.  I am ok and Nico will be when he lets me give his meds.  He only bites me when I try.  I ordered something to prevent his biting.  Life is certainly not fair.  Not to me, not to him.

    It was too warm today & the wind was awful.  Gusts up to 40mph or more.  Blew things around.  Wind continues tomorrow.

    They had said no chance for rain, it would all be north.  But had storms that developed around supper time.  We had rain & wind.  Sure it did not rain much.

    A busy weekend starts here in town.  Big festival that happens every other year.  It is to honor our ancestors from Sweden.  I skipped the last one & planned to skip this one.  I do not want to go alone & sit alone.  Hard to watch others around with family & friends enjoying themselves.  Better to stay home but this year I am working for both days.  Not doing anything important but that is ok.  Be good just to be around people.

17 june, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Had a great day!!!  Slept good.  Nice.  Did take a pill.  I had major anxiety so I needed it.  I was up early since it was a work day.

    I worked at the SVAFC today.  I got there early & they were already open.  They had a mural to paint in the back.  I ran the front & others were in the back.  Had some slow moments but at other times we were full!!  Fun to meet tourists & locals. 

    A lady I know came in.  We do not hang out or anything, we just know each other.  She sat down to chat with me & she said "Oh, my!  You have lost weight."  She is the only one who has noticed or complimented me on it.  Only one!!!!  I have lost 3 dress sizes & no one can see that?  I am just not noticed or important in the least.  My fave online game is a word find.  A game earlier tonight was "Things grandparents need".  I have not even one of those things.  No surprise.

    I played with my iphone & played with apps to see what they did.  I need to delete tons of them!  But I had fun.

    When I got there a lady was painting in the back.  She went to where she worked & got me an ice tea.  How nice.  The lady in charge had her boyfriend get her 4 Vikings on a stick.  But she only got 3.  She ended up giving me the extra one.  Best supper I have had in ages!!  I could make them myself but too lazy.  Would be worth it though!!

    Viking on a stick is a Lindsborg creation.  They have Swedish meatballs & squares of Swedish rye bread.  They put them on skewers & dip them in Swedish pancake batter & then fry them.  Heaven on earth!!

    I sat outside with Nico.  Miserable.  Felt humid & little breeze.  Rain all last night, but none today.  Severe storms maybe later tonight here.  Time will tell.

    Things were pretty good but Nico had a bad moment then a much worse moment.  I locked him out of one area.  That sort of stopped him.  Hopefully he will calm down.  May have to go outside for awhile.  Spoke too soon.  Got a hold of something he should not have.  I finally got it all away from him.  But I am in much pain.  What is wrong with him???  Have given up.  Locked him in the hallway.  May be out nightly habit.  I do not deserve to be mistreated so badly.  I just ordered 2 more baby gates.  See if that helps.

    I texted off & on with my grandniece this afternoon.  A nice way to get to know her.  I do not get to do much family stuff with anyone, so this helps.  She is not in junior high, I do not think.

13 june, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Today was a much better day.  I am relieved.  Took my anxiety pill when I went to bed.  Slept pretty good.  After working hard yesterday, I was tired today & took it easy.  Not as hot today but the heat is coming.  Need a few days of hot & windy days to get the wheat ready to cut!!

    We have Canadian smoke to arrive here wednesday evening.  They say not as bad as NYC, but it will bother me I am sure.  Great.

    I was lazy & had 2 huge piles of boxes I never flattened.  I was lazy.  I set them by the trash bins & they trashed them.  Good to know!!  Will try not to do it too often. 

    I heard a woodpecker this morning.  Can see one sometimes but not often.  I almost always see an oriole every afternoon.  So pretty.  And I often see bluebirds in our pasture.  They never come near my house.  Gorgeous blue.

    Been storms again in western Kansas.  Now I got a warning there are storms nearing us here.  Believe it when I see it.

    Good news.  It is 100 days until the astronomical Autumn or 79 days until the meteorological Autumn.

06 april, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Easy to sleep when it is cool outside.  And with no wind it was easy to take Nico outside.

    I got up early to sweep the house before the AC repairman got here.  Got a new broom & it is much better than what I had.  Worked great!

    After lunch Cinder, Nico, & I sat outside.  For almost 2 hours.  It was nice.  They chased & sun bathed!  One little calf got out of the pasture.  He ended up on the other side of our tornado shelter.  I could not see him but Cinder was sitting on the edge of the shelter.  I wondered if she was watching the calf.  And she was!  Cute!  I hope he found his way back to his mom.  Last I saw he was headed down the driveway.

    My repairman finally called around 3pm.  Finally.  Nice guy & friendly.  Something came unhooked.  He hooked it back up & checked all the others.  Cold air again!!  Just in time!  Huge area of hot weather forecast for here part of next week.  I am sure all the summer loving people are enjoying knowing that I hate hot weather.  I will just stay home.  No need to be out in the heat & with others who are gloating.

    Rain is on the map for late next week.  Not holding my breath.

    Heard from a friend in the far west of Kansas.  She said it is too late for rain to help their wheat.  So sad.  And won't have food to feed the cattle.  Hard on the land to graze cattle on land when it is dry & windy.  I just hurt for them.  Hard times.

    The Bradford pear trees on town are blooming.  So pretty.  I have one photo to share from tonight.  I have a pear tree but not a Bradford.  Mine blooms later.  See how it does with no rain.

    JR & I ate at Jalisco's.  We both got orders with a burrito since it is National Burrito Day.

    My other photos are local ones ---- birds I fed, geese in a lake in McPherson, a local Dalahäst.  I took them all.

                    

06 December, 2022 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Today was a good day.  Met my grandson CF for lunch & I got to meet his girlfriend, AP.  She is really nice.  It made my day when she called me Grandma & gave me a hug  I enjoyed their company.  We talked about some old times & that was nice.  Good memories.  About him & his sister & Willie.  CF & his sister AF used to live a couple of miles from us.  They were here all the time.  It was great.  This is about the days of Willie's funeral 4 years ago.  Good to laugh & smile remembering good things.  Kept me from crying.

    Weather was coolish but not bad.  Going to stay in the 50s for a week or so.  Then cooler.  So they say.

    It was cute at Jalisco's.  When CT greeted me he went to the kitchen to tell them I was there.  I could hear him.  One of the cooks came to greet me.  And gave me two hugs.  Very nice.

    I planned to call JS last night but he said no way.  He is working alone this week while the manager is gone.  Good pay but really tiring.  We will only talk when I see him.  It was quiet when I got there so he did sit & chat a bit.

    I think every black bird in the Falun area are at my farm.  My least favorite bird.  They will overrun your bird feeder & chase the little birds away.  They are having a convention in my trees.  They pick a couple & fill the trees with birds.  Then they are very noisy!  Later they move to another couple of trees.  All day long.  Wonder why?

    Kisse has a box she loves.  It is large & still has the packing stuff in it.  She crawls in it & sleeps.  I usually cannot even see her.  I was going to throw it out.  I will wait.  Fun to see her climb in & rattle the papers around for a while.

13 october, 2022 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    My day was not bad I just had no sleep until this morning.  Nico barked a lot was part of the problem.  And I am out of one of the pills that help me relax to sleep.

    I cancelled my hair app't for today.  Too tired to drive to town.  Won't kill me to do it myself.  I napped instead.

    Yesterday I got 6 bulls in my north pasture.  Good to see cattle here again.  Best time of year to have them back.  More to come.

    Sat out with Nico.  Heard & saw a crow.  I rarely see them.  Very cool.  And we had a couple of blue jays singing to us.  The grasses are dying so I can again see the pond water.  I like that.  It sparkles in the sunshine.

    Just heard that we get a raise for those of us on Social Society.  We never get enough to live on.  But extra will be nice.

    Nice weather.  Temps were 46F & 68F.  Have pretty strong winds too.  Wind is not good in a drought.  In a fire warning.  Tomorrow is too warm.  And no rain in the next 10 days.

11 october, 2022 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Had a pretty good day.  Had to get up really early for my grandson to come here to check my water heater.  Got more sleep than I expected. 

    MK thinks he has it pretty much figured out.  While here I had him look at my back door that I cannot get open.  There was nothing broken on it but it was just stuck.  I never open or use that door but I will try to open it a couple of times a week.  And with getting a new water heater & needing my propane hooked up to my heater, the back door makes it all easier.

    I had some errands in town one of which was picking up groceries.  Food here again!!!  But I forgot cookies!!

    I had another low blood sugar reading so I am lowering my insulin a little.  I ordered some glucose tablets but they are gummies.  And they are delicious!!  Not sure how good they work but I will learn.

    Good weather.  Temps were 62F & 83F.  Winds have come up with the cold front getting near.  I like it as it keeps the bugs away.  But it puts us in a fire alert.  One would think people would know to be careful but that rarely happens.

    The box on my lawn chair seems to be Cinder's favorite place to sleep.  With our high winds the box was in danger of flying away.  I put something heavy in it.  With rain coming I might bring it in the house.  What we do for out "kids"!

    Photos today are of my winter birds from when I fed the birds.  I need to do that again but I need to decide where to do it.  Not close to the house because of mice.

    So sad to see how the Ukraine is treated but they are gaining.  And how women are treated in Iran.  I never understand how people can be cruel to others.  Russia is just scary for the entire world.  On Instagram I follow a opera singer who was shot many times.  He helped get people out of his country.  They thought he might not sing again, but he is singing great!
