World Redhead Day

I love being a red head.  Although I still color my hair but I have no gray hair at all.  Grew up with strawberry blond hair.

Today's Name Day: Vilhelmina, Vilma

    No blog today.  I am too tired.  It is too late.  More work on graves today in one cemetery.  And I saw Willie's grave after my nephew & his family decorated.  I am still crying.  Blog tomorrow.

Preparing for Memorial Day

Today's Name Day: Ivan, Vanja

    No real blog.  Long day.  Decorated graves in 2 cemeteries.  I might go to one here tomorrow.  Plus a long, long time on Coronado Heights taking photos of flowers, yuccas, etc.  I bought many, many silk flowers.  And I needed them.  Found many of our family graves with no one to put on flowers them.  It is up to JR & I.  When we are gone there will be no one who will or can or care.  We ended the day in Pizza Hut.  I am exhausted.

Grave of a sweet lady I took care of in a nursing home in the 1970s.  Just found her grave.  And I cried.  Loved her.

My parents.  Dad was a tail gunner in WWII so he gets a flag.

My mom was a twin.  Her sister was born before midnight, Mom after midnight.  Different dates.  Her sister was born dead.  This is her grave.  Mom's brother promised to put a stone on it but never did.  I did it.

Sheltering in Place, Mood Of Silence, Day 206....

 I did not sleep until 7am. Makes for a great night. But I was sick last night so probably ok. I did have a couple of friends who have been ill also. I had many of the same symptoms. And combined with my flu shot which did not help. But I ate lunch today without problems. Maybe I am better. Just had supper. See how that sits. 

This site has now done a remake. I hate it. Cannot find what I want. Why do sites do this? It was fine. Now I am frustrated.

I have 2 little sparrows who each have a corner under my carport every night. The female had been doing it for a couple of years. Or birds from the same family. Today when I went out with Nico, they were both still under the roof but sitting next to each other. They looked at me and did not care. Sort of a sweet moment. Wonder when they will head south? 

I live in the Smoky Valley. When you get up on top of one of our hills and  look down the air is a blue haze. This morning across the road from my farm the wheat field had a blue haze. We have smoke here again. They say our air quality is not good

I cancelled my errands for today. Too tired and too scared of getting sick in the car. Not sure about tomorrow. Maybe supper out. See how I feel over night.

Photos today are of Chester, Nebraska. Oh, the memories I have from there. When Willie was a trucker we ate in Chester at Foote Cafe often. Good home cooking. It was a truck stop. Then they rerouted the highway and it sure hurt all the little towns. Foote is still open and I would love to go back to eat there. Oh, I miss those days on the open road with Willie. And the 2 other drivers. We had lots of laughs. Life was good then.

The Plague, Day 162.....

Last night was not the best. My stress level got way out of control. And I paid for it. I finally got up around 4am to sleep on the sofa. I took tylenol and slathered on tons of pain cream. Much better today. I had stuff I had to get done last night. And I did.

Today JS called and asked for help. He works about a half mile from me. I was on the way to Lindsborg so I stopped to see him and what he needed. Nice to feel needed and part of someone or something. And got to chat a bit with him and my neighbour.

I picked up my brother and he came and carried out 5 bags of trash. Been going through stuff. Good to get rid of stuff.

JR and I had supper at Pizza Hut. I was craving pizza. Very good. We were the only customers but they had carry outs and deliveries.

I sat out with Nico twice. Once when it was 99F. Thankfully the humidity is very low. Still hot. I saw 100F in my car.

I live in the Smoky Valley in Kansas. The Valley is extra Smoky now. The smoke from the California fire has reached here. I can feel it a little when I breathe.

I am excited for September. Soccer starts at Bethany College. But whether we can actually attend the matches is unknown. But they usually stream most matches. I am ready for a tiny bit of normalcy.
