National Good Neighbor Day

I truly have the best neighbours.  My nephew to the west.  All other directions are a family who grew up next door to us.  I know I can call them if I need help.  And around the corner to the west is a dear friend who read in FB where I had car trouble.  He was at  my house in 5 minutes to check it completely over.  One of many things he has done for me since Willie died.

       Had a quiet day at the SVAFC.  Not one guest came in.  Just MH & I.  I brought my iPad in so I read for a long time.  Then I had trouble with my iPad & tried to fix it.  And Google did not help.  I finally gave up & rebooted it.  Then somehow I fixed it.  Great!!!

    The art show today was nice although people have not come to see it.  It is things made in the classes we give.  I liked it.  Nice art.  Lots of color.  Took photos with my iPad.  Much better.  Will do that again.  And I had no one who came in.  Only MH & me.  And his show is in october.  Can hardly wait to see it!!  And hardly anyone walking around town.  Quiet.

    When it was time to go home, MH asked if I had read an article in the local newpaper about a lady & taking care of graves.  I had not since I do not take it.  He said it would be something I would enjoy so he bought me a paper to read.  Got it home & the lady is my cousin.  She is in charge of both of our cemeteries.  And recently found out the one cemetery has 500 graves not marked ----- many of our earliest settlers.  They got a grant to place markers on these graves.  They did some this week.  Very cool.  Cannot wait tell him tomorrow!!  I think all of our family is marked.  We did have some that were not but that was a few years ago.  A cousin did some & I did one.

    Same weather as yesterday ----- 50s & 80s.  Will continue.  No rain anywhere near us.......for several weeks.

    Cinder went out at noon & is still out She came to see me when I got home but stayed out.  I rested for a short time, but no sleep.  Just needed to rest.

    MM texted me.  Someone was really sweet to him & it touched him.  Nice to hear.  People I know.  We all need moments like that sometimes.  Any other texts were all kind of gross ----- violence, sexual, etc.  No need to respond.  Send something nice.  And maybe like something I post.  Ha!  Like that happens from them.  Got a photo yesterday with 3 of them in it flipping me off.  Nice, huh???

03 august, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

     Slept so-so.  Not bad.  Had to be up early.  Cinder cuddled with me for a while.  Nice.

    Today I had my hair trimmed & styled.  Nice to be pampered.  Just seeing Henry is good.  Such a nice person.  Will look good for a few days!

    After my hair, I went to Dillons to pick up groceries.  They almost always have what I want or they offer a substitute & I chose if I want it or not.  Better than ordering 3 bags of food but only getting 1 bag.

    Last night after going to bed I could see lightning SW of me.  It kept moving & was over my house.  And moved on.  I could see distant flashes for hours.  With all that, we got nary a drop of rain.  Then this morning we had a tiny shower.  Plus on the way home from Salina there was rain in Assaria, but not where I live.  Tonight chance of severe storms.  Nothing yet.

    Cooler today.  Only 92F.  It was pleasant out a while ago.  Nice breeze.  They said the super hot weather is not going to be here next week.  I hope they are correct.

    Heard from no one today.  Not even my grandsons.  Busy I guess.  My oldest great grandson has a birthday today.  Busy with him.

    I am not writing anything tonight.  Last week was just more than I could take with no support of any kind.  I will blog again when I can sleep at night without tears.  Just photos tonight.  I took them all.

                        

05 December, 2022 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Another quiet day here alone.  But my hip/leg pain went away overnight.  Only achy this afternoon.  Our weather was far too warm.  We got in the 50s.  But cooler temps are on the way.  No visitors today & few texts.  Normal day.

    You can tell the minute I am wanting to write my blog.  Nico gets into "let's drive Mom to drink" mode.  He constantly is wanting something or he wants me to move so he can sit in the corner of the soffa.  Hopefully he is ok now.  Ha!

    I slept good last night.  Any position I wanted to sleep in was comfy.  Not so good for my nap today.  Not pain but achiness in my leg.

    I cancelled a doctor's appointment for tomorrow.  I am too busy.  It just a check up.  Too much going on.  I like to be busy but not overwhelmed.

    Kisse came in my bed last night for lots of cuddling.  Always good.  Then she sat down & looked out the window for the longest time.  No idea why but it was nice to have her close.

    My great niece played basketball today.  I usually get a photo & the results of the game.  Hope they did well.  My great grandsons saw Christmas lights last night.  I think in Wichita.  JR & I will go to Salina some night soon to see lights & maybe have pizza for supper.

    Watching Expedition Unknown now.  They have Vikings on now.  I am sure they are my relatives!!  I have seen this before.  Love seeing the Viking ships in the sea.  They are showing them using a Sun Stone to guide them.  Interesting.

    My Sjogren's Syndrome dry skin & the dry air from the heater is driving me insane.  My arms itch so bad.  My usual itch lotion works for a while but then I itch again.  It is always something.

    Photos are Christmas.  I like winter & Christmas photos.  One of the few ways I can celebrate Christmas.  I have my shopping done.  Two gifts have arrived today.

                    

26 september, 2022 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    A better day.  Think I am caught up on all my missing sleep.  Still some back discomfort but walking is much better.  But sitting here just intensifies my feeling all alone.  Better to be busy when I can be.  Not this week, I guess.  But hopefully I can work.  I sure miss being there.

    The weather is perfect.  Last night we were 49F.  Awesome.  My bedroom was chilly when I went to bed.  Good for sleeping! Our high was 82F.  Nico & I sat outside for a long time.  Just peaceful but we seemed to upset a bluejay!  He cussed us out from a tree by my house for quite a while!!

    Cinder has been gone all day.  Maybe the black cat is around here.  Dang him.  I always worry about her when I cannot see her.

    The hurricane approaching Florida is scary.  I swear if I lived there I would have been gone a couple of weeks ago.  I have relatives there & they will be affected even is not hit.  One of the last states I would move to.  Visit, yes.  Way to humid for me to live there.  And hurricanes.

    I need to find someone new to work on my Mac laptop.  What a poor job my usual group did.  I had a major problem with my printer software.  I wrote it out.  Supposedly they fixed it.  HA.  Made it worse.  I needed a new battery for my laptop.  They must have put in a very old, used one in.  When I start my blog, is almost fully charged.  Not done writing, it is half used.  Withing 5 minutes or so it is empty.  I just keep it plugged in now.  My grandson might be able to replace it.  Will check.  But that place I have always used is out.

    I love autumn & winter.  Photos tonight are wintry photos.  I know it is early but not for me! 

                        

       

    

HWandering, 05 march 2022

    Today is a day of miracles!  In the middle of the night, around 4am I think, I woke up to a thunderstorm.  I forgot to see how much rain we got.  Too dark now.  How refreshing to wake up to lightning and thunder with the window covered in rain.  Wish it would happen more often.

    Today was awful weather.  It did get in the 70s but the 40 mph winds were deadly.  Hard to drive.  Pushed to one side of the road and then to the other.  The house rattled all night and day.  Wind is going down and temps are falling and maybe rain tomorrow.  

    The second miracle is when I got home from being out of town, I walked in the house and it was warm.  WARM!!!  And I heard the furnace on.  Hot air coming out of the vents.  I have no idea why but I am truly thankful.  I wonder if the part whatever it is had old dirt or lint or something that prevented it from firing the furnace on.  JR told me to not touch a thing.  Just leave it as is.  Trust me, I will touch nothing.  Feels awesome to be warm.  And I had already planned to sleep on the sofa.  Nope, a warm bed is better.

    JR has a really old phone old cellphone.  He is not addicted as I am!!  He got a notice from his phone company that they would give him a new phone that was at least 4G.  So today we drove to McPherson to get his new phone.  Looks really good.  Took a lot longer than getting my iPhone but that was no problem.  It is working just fine.  And will take much better photos than his old one.  He mostly takes very professional photos with a wonderful camera.  I too could do that but I am mostly clueless.  I need to have him show me things and as he does TAKE NOTES.  

    After we got his phone we had to eat.  Decided on the Crown and Rye in Lindsborg.  We should support it more often but Jalisco's get our business most of the time.  Good to be back at the Crown.  They had 3 large groups in there.  He got Swedish Meatballs over noodles.  Not the Swedish way of having them with potatoes and lingonberries.  When I have that I always ask for lingon.  I had shrimp on skewers and french fries.  They have the best fries I have had anywhere.  My stomach was mostly ok but the butter on the shrimp bothered a little.

These are from a past Midsommarsdag in Lindsborg.  The young man facing me is my cousin.  I cannot tell you how many photos I took to get just this one.  It is perfect.

The first one is just a photo I took with no intentions.  He is nowhere near the pole but looks like his foot is on it.  I could never have gotten this if I had tried.
