002/2025 Måndag the 24th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Today's Name Day:  Mats, Mattias

Love these names.  They are forms of Matthys.  Have a dear friend with that name.  He lives in South Africa.  Miss him so much.

    Not  great day.  Slept ok but when I woke up my stomach was still sickly.  Did not feel like eating but I did.  Stayed in my jammies.  Who would care??  I am always alone so no one sees me.  Just my cats.  Actually feel some better right now.

    I did eat lunch without any trouble.  I have small cups I drink out of but today I chose a really pretty tall glass to use.  Maybe I will drink more.  And the water is still cold coming out of the tap.  Best part of winter.

    The house is way too hot!!!  It is 76F again.  Outside it is 71F.  Far too hot for now.  I just turned on the AC to see if that helps.  Back by my bedroom it says 79F.  I hate sun shining in the south windows.  At this time of year the sun is too low to the ground.  Summer it is overhead.  Makes a big difference.  Weatherman just said thunderstorms on sunday & monday.  That would be awesome!!!

    I tried to take a nap.  Kisse curled up on my stomach.  But did not stay too long.  Cinder is in the living room but sort of ignoring me.  Too hot to cuddle.  Plus has her nest just right.

    While watching my lunch tv shows Cinder managed to turn the tv power strip off.  Grrrr.  Lost part of one show I tape.  But working now.

    Had photos & lots of texting with KW today.  She & MM are no longer dating.  At least for a while.  Working out how to still see all the kids.  I got photos & video of SM blowing me a kiss & saying "I love you!"  Makes my day.  💓. I am lucky.

    Had a gas explosion in Hutchinson a couple of days ago,  Luckily no one was hurt.  Two workers had just left the building.  Think they smelled gas.  Lucky.  Areas around the blown up building are still forbidden for going to work or home.  Trying to let the gas escape & burn off.  They had an earlier explosion in 2001.  Worse than this one.

    Dang.  Now my living room is up to 77F.  No bueno!!!  😱

A very old old photo of Lindsborg's Main Street.  At the far end of the street is the Bethany Lutheran Church steeple.  Wish I knew who the people were.

A grocery store from long ago.  I was almost a teenager then.  You could call your order in & go pick it up or they would deliver to your house.  Service like that is rare today.  I remember the meat guy.  All meat was freshly cut & the best ever.  He was deaf I remember.  Super nice guy.  Be fun to have that kind of meat counter now.

002/2025 Torsdag the 20th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Today's Name Day:  Hulda

    Today is a much better day.  I had trouble getting to sleep but when I finally did I slept great.  Cinder helped.  No cuddling from Kisse.

    It got down to -10F last night.  Luckily the winds were light.  We could have broken an old old record but needed to get to -13F.  Close but no cigar.  

    My back door leaks lots of air.  MM showed me what to get to help.  But last night the heat would not shut off.  I finally got up & blocked the air with an old towel.  What a difference.  Then I turned the heat way down to give the heater a break.  I pulled up my weighted blanked part way to help with warmth.  Today it is set as normal & all is ok.  Temp now is 7F.  Very light winds.  Tonight will be a bit better.

    Texting with MM.  Think he is working today.  Hopefully that is me tomorrow.  I am excited to get out of the house!!!

    New soap opera starts next monday.  A preview is on now.  Cast is mostly black,  Looks pretty good.  I have watched soaps since I was a small child.  Mom would go clean her father's house as her mom died as a result of a car wreck in Colorado.  To keep me quiet she turned on the TV.  I watched the early early soaps ---- Love of Life, Edge of Night.  Her fault I am addicted.  In high school one soap got really tense.  We took turns being sick to watch.  I got to see one of the stars die.  Sooo traumatic.  Had to call everyone to tell them.  No internet then.

    Have trash to throw out,  Will wait to see if KN gets my mail & can do it for me.

    Don't get to see many cows & calves.  Too cold to go far.  Hope no births last night.

002/2025 Onsdag the 19th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Today's Name Day:  Gabriella

 Love this name.  MA, owner of Jalisco's has a daughter with this name.

    My day did not start good.  I had not one bit of sleep last night.  I just was not tired.  I tried.  Cinder was on me.  I finally got up at 7am.  Caught up on emails.  Fell asleep around 930am & set my alarm for 1145am.  Then lunch.  Napped from 145pm until 320pm..  Short naps.  Hope it makes a difference tonight.

    I saw a low of -2F.  A high today of 9F.  Wind quit today,  Blew overnight.  Temp has been dropping for a while now.  At -1.7F now.  We had a light snow at 7am.

    My nephew KN got my mail & had a box of Krispy Kreme donuts for me.  Fund raiser for the high school girls soft ball team.  They are sooo good.  I had a tv dinner that is not one of my favorites.  Mac & cheese with beef.  Do not like the beef.  Rather tough.  Next time the beef goes to the side.  Ushe.  Only have a box of them.  Not many.  But the donuts made it all worth it!!

    KN & I started to chat while the bulls drank.  Then one of the bulls pulled the hose out of the water.  Water was spraying everywhere.  There went our chat.  Nice to have someone to see daily.  Getting spoiled.

    Did email with a friend.  And MM sent photos of the kids & their supper.  Wish I had a cook!!!  He fixed meat balls.  He puts lots of veggies in his cooking.  I am a picky eater & could easily avoid what I do not like.  I used to play Trivial Pursuit with 2 guys I worked with.  We would order pizza that had stuff we all liked on it.  So we would all pick off what we did not like & someone would take the piles they liked!!  What fun times.  I sure miss those times.

    There was an article about a King Donald that was killed by Vikings.  Where oh where are those Vikings when we need them!!!!  That was long long ago!!

    Anxious for friday to get here.  Out of the house & working.  Fun!!!  And saturday also.  Be good to see people!!

    I have had trouble getting photos in my blog.  Not working like it used to.  But.  I found a way to do it without using my iPad.  I am relieved.  I knew there had to be a way.  I am proud of me!!!  

    Watching Expedition X as they explore WWII tunnels in Germany.  Now they are exloring werewolves in France.  So much better than stupid shows on the networks.

002/2025 Tisdag the 18th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

Today's Name Day:  Frida

I know someone named Frida.  She was a couple of grades older than me.  Her sister was a year younger than me.  Only Frida I have known.

    Very quiet day.  Slept good.  Too cozy to want to get up!!  Temp was below zero all night.  The high today was 3F.  Wind this afternoon was blowing the snow around.  Drifts in my front yard.  We had 4" of snow.  Not a lot.  Heard the roads are ok but just far too cold to get out.  I am home until friday.  Then hopefully I can go to work.  A bit warmer.

    I called my nephew this afternoon.  And he was in my front yard watering the bulls.  I had him go get my mail.  Again they dumped some on the ground.  Will call tomorrow.  That is not acceptible to have my mail sit in the snow/mud.  Lazy people.  I was out on the porch to take my mail from him.  Dang cold.  It was zero then.  And in the wind it is horrible.  He will get tomorrow's mail also.  Probably get my own on thursday.

    So nice to see my nephew & get to visit with him.  His wife posted a photo of a poor baby calf born in the snow.  It looked dead BUT the mom took good care of it & both are ok today!!!  Great news!!!

    One of my packages was some cookies I ordered.  I used to order these often & then forgot them.  Too good.

    Watching a video about the airplane that flipped on its top.  And how they all got off with some help.  And trying to decided why it may have happened.  I think I am glad I don't fly anymore.  At least for the next 3-4 years.  Things were good until just recently.  🟧. Safe no longer for anyone.

    Texted with LL & MM.  That is it.  Quiet day.  I had trash I should have had outside.  Trash truck did make it.  But too cold last night.  It can wait until the weekend.

    My other grandson was supposed to communicate more.  He was the one who started ignoring me first.  He & his girlfriend rarely comment or like anything I post.  They live for bloody monster things that I would never post nor like.  Probably the fault of drugs.

    Our temp is falling now.  Down to -1F.  Nice.

002/2025 Fredag the 14th - Wandering & Capturing Moments

 

Today's Name Day:  Valentin

    Well today did not go as I. planned.  Cancelled lunch & work.  I have dealt with flu symptoms off & on all week.  Nothing severe but not feeling good.  Not good enough to be out in public.  So middle of last night my stomach acted up.  I did not dare go anywhere.  And extra tired.  I slept extra late after writing LL iwth my bad news.

    Had an extra short nap today.  Probably slept too much this morning,  But Cinder & I relaxed together.

    Last night Kisse was curled close to me on the sofa.  Cinder climbed on to my chest.  And they both stayed.  I was scared they would fight but they both went to sleep.  Surprise.  Got one photo,

    Valentine's Day today.  Not celebrated in many years,  In 2016 Willie brought me long stemmed red roses.  He had no clue what they were but were expensive.  I knew for sure his mind was gone then.  Only time I ever got roses.  Sad memory.  And when he was OK he did not like to go on the 14th.  Too many people & restaurants too crowed.  So we went out on another night.  Now I am always home alone.

    Severe high winds today from the south.  Hate south winds as they blow through the house.  North winds are good since we have a strong tree line north of my house.

    Winter storm watch on monday & tuesday.  Then wednesday & thursday single digit temps & winds.  Another days.  Then temps warm up a bit.

    Nothing special to eat here.  Except my strawberry cake.  Too good for words.
