Dos días

Estaba demasiado cansado anoche al blog. Me dormí rápido.

Ayer comí con mi hermano y mi hija. Buena comida y una gran atención del personal del camarero!

Mi hermano y yo fuimos a través de más de los tesoros de mamá! Ahora soy el dueño orgulloso de una docena de más pulseras plásticas de plástico duro y sobre la misma cantidad de collares de cuentas de plástico. Suspiro ... Creo que por nieta los heredará !! ¡A ella le gusta "bling"!

Otros tesoros eran algunas fotos. También el medallón de mi abuela. ¡Es hermoso! Y los pernos de pelo de mi bisabuela --- grandes de plástico. No tengo nada de ella por lo que son preciosos para mí. También joyería papá comprado para mamá en China o la India. Cosas hermosas. Y luego una caja de cosas de papá. Su anillo de bodas, algunas cosas militares. También la primera botella de perfume que compró para mamá. Tales recuerdos limpios.

Hoy ha sido un buen día. Nico y yo dormimos hasta el mediodía. Tan agradable. Y la temperatura era en los años 70 hoy. ¡Increíble! Y tuvimos lluvia de mediodía por un par de horas. Bonito, pero no está lo suficientemente cerca de la lluvia.

Escribí un poco más en mi libro. Soy un escritor tan malo. Probablemente nadie lo verá jamás. ¡Pero es divertido!

Esta semana no hay días calurosos. No hay días en los 90s. Y pronóstico de lluvia en 2 ocasiones. Un descanso bienvenido.

Two Days

I was too tired last night to blog. I fell asleep fast.

Yesterday I ate lunch with my brother and daughter. Good food and great attention from the waiter staff!

My brother and I went through more of Mom's treasures! I am now the proud owner of a dozen plus plastic hard plastic bracelets and about the same amount of plastic bead necklaces. Sigh... I think by granddaughter will inherit them!! She likes "bling"!

Other treasures were some photos. Also my grandaunt's locket. It is gorgeous! And my great grandmother's hair pins --- large plastic ones. I have nothing of hers so these are precious to me. Also jewelry Dad bought for Mom in China or India. Beautiful things. And then a box of Dad's things. His wedding ring, some military things. Also the first tiny bottle of perfume he bought for Mom. Such neat memories.

Today was a pretty good day. Nico and I slept until noon. So nice. And the temperature were in the 70s today. Awesome! And we had rain from noon for a couple of hours. Nice but not near enough rain.

I wrote a little more in my book. I am such a bad writer. Probably no one will ever see it. But it is fun!

This week there are no hot days. No days in the 90s. And rain forecast on 2 occasions. A welcome break.

Gran sábado

¡Qué día tan agradable! Nico y yo dormimos hasta las 12 del mediodía. Y la temperatura exterior estaba bien. Así que me alegro de que la Cúpula del Calor se haya alejado de aquí.

Conocí a amigos para el café en el pavo real blanco. Acaban de regresar de un viaje a Suecia y Alemania. Me trajeron una magnífica bandeja, dos revistas y un periódico. ¡¡Tan maravilloso!! Tuvimos una gran visita.

Cené en Jalisco. No demasiado hambre pero tenía un burrito y luego un poco de helado para el postre. Todos los trabajadores estaban de buen humor. Tenía un montón de bromas con ellos! Siempre es agradable sentirse bien por dentro!

Esperaba la lluvia hoy, pero no tuve suerte. Sigue lloviendo al oeste de nosotros pero nada aquí. Amaría la lluvia pesada durante la noche con relámpagos y truenos. Sin viento fuerte.

Tuvimos un terremoto a una hora de nosotros. No lo sentí. Estaba caminando en la casa. Tal vez si hubiera estado sentado podría haberlo sentido.

Great Saturday

What a pleasant day! Nico and I slept until 12 noon. And the temperature outside was OK. So glad the Dome of Heat has moved away from here.

I met friends for coffee at the White Peacock. They just returned from a Sweden and Germany trip. They brought me a gorgeous tray, 2 magazines and a newspaper. So wonderful!! We had a great visit.

I had supper at Jalisco's. Not too hungry but had a burrito and then some ice cream for dessert. The workers were all in good spirits. Had lots of jokes with them! Always nice to feel good inside!

I was hoping for rain today but no luck. Keeps raining west of us but nothing here. Would love heavy rain overnight with lightning and thunder. No strong winds though.

Had an earthquake about an hour from us. I did not feel it. I was walking in the house. Maybe if I had been sitting I might have felt it.

Viernes divertido

Hoy era mi grupo sueco. Me encanta tenerla todos los viernes. Me quejarse mucho cuando tengo que levantarse temprano pero una vez que estoy allí es genial. Hoy para un aperitivo tuvimos sándwiches genuinos de cara abierta sueca con pan de centeno, jamón, rodaja de huevo y huevas. ¡Maravilloso!

Era Show and Tell hoy. Tenía algunas cosas interesantes. Fotos, artículo de noticias, una tarjeta de condolencia, libro. Una corta lección sueca. Y una gran conversación!

Mi amigo JR y yo almorzamos en Jalisco's. El nuevo tipo estaba allí hoy. Él no es nuevo para mí sin embargo. Es bueno verlo de vez en cuando. Y me dio un abrazo de D que trabaja allí. Se supone que la gente tiene 5 abrazos al día sólo para sobrevivir. Estoy tan lejos ahora que nunca puedo alcanzarlo. Explica mucho en mi vida. Realmente falta. Yo solía recibir muchos abrazos de un amigo, pero de repente no había más. Supongo que esa es mi pérdida.

Vine a casa y Nico y yo tomamos una siesta agradable juntos. Muy agradable. ¡Odiaba levantarme!

Para la cena mi cónyuge en realidad trajo filetes de casa de Marquette. Lo hace de vez en cuando. Pero nunca ir allí para comer. Nunca. ¿Preguntarse por qué? Hace que me pregunte. Pero los filetes eran maravillosos!

Estoy llevando a mi hija a Kansas City para ver a su cirujano. Ella ha tenido 3 cirugías en la espalda. Lo último fue lo peor. Ella tenía un trabajo pero era demasiado para ella y causó mucho dolor. Tenemos que salir a las 7 de la mañana. Un desafío para mí, pero compartiremos la conducción. Estoy tan agradecida de que ella esté de vuelta en mi vida. Sé que nos perdimos algunos años, pero no más. Y me sorprende lo mucho que somos. ¡Divertido!

Tengo un primo que dice que debo escribir un libro. Sólo cosas y cuentos que conozco. Asi que. De hecho, he empezado. No se puede imprimir ni compartir hasta que me haya ido. Sobre personas con las que conozco o con las que he trabajado. Comencé con mis días de Cruz Blanca. White Cross era una casa de retiro donde trabajé de vez en cuando por 4-5 años.

Friday fun

Today was my Swedish group. I love having it every friday. I grumble a lot when I have to get up early but once I am there it is great. Today for a snack we had real Swedish open face sandwiches with rye bread, ham, egg slice and roe. Wonderful!

It was Show and Tell today. Had some interesting things. Photos, news article, a sympathy card, book. A short Swedish lesson. And great conversation!

My friend JR and I had lunch at Jalisco's. The new guy was there today. He is not new to me though. Good to see him once in a while. And I got a nice hug from D who works there. People are supposed to get 5 hugs a day just to survive. I am so far behind now I can never catch up. Explains a lot in my life. Truly lacking. I used to get many hugs from a friend but then suddenly there were no more. I guess that is my loss.

I came home and Nico and I took a nice nap together. Very nice. I hated to get up!

For supper my spouse actually brought home steaks from Marquette. He does that once in a while. But we never go there to eat. Never. Wonder why? Makes me wonder. But the steaks were wonderful!

I am taking my daughter to Kansas City to see her surgeon. She has had 3 back surgeries. The last was the worse. She had a job but it was too much for her and caused lots of pain. We have to leave at 7am. A challenge for me but we will share the driving. I am so grateful she is back in my life. I know we missed some years but no more. And it is surprising to me how much alike we are. Fun!

I have a cousin who says I should write a book. Just tidbits and stories I know. So. I actually have started. It cannot be printed or shared until I am gone. About people I know or have worked with. I started with my White Cross days. White Cross was a retirement home I worked at off and on for 4-5 years.

Lindo día

Qué diferencia un día en los años 80 hace. La casa era incluso soportable. Nunca sudaba y nunca sentía ganas de llorar.

Tenía una cita con el cabello. Cambiado cómo se cortó. No es más corto, pero se ve más corto. El cambio es bueno. Conozco a alguien cuyo pelo no ha cambiado desde la escuela secundaria. Triste.

Terminé mi gran día con ir a CVS. Me gusta navegar. Y comprar cosas, necesarias o no. ¡Sobre todo o no !!

Mi estilista y yo hablamos sobre el clima. Dijo que su AC tenía dificultades para mantenerse al día. Le dije que el mío era el mismo, hasta 90F. ¡Él estaba sorprendido! Ambos pensamos que hay algo extraño sucediendo. He mencionado que aquí y nunca hay una respuesta. De repente extra sorda. Hmmm.

Nice day

What a difference a day in the 80s makes. The house was even bearable. I never sweated and never felt like crying.

Had a hair appointment. Changed how it was cut. Not shorter but looks shorter. Change is good. I know someone whose hair has not changed since high school. Sad.

I ended my big day with going to CVS. I like to browse. And buy stuff, needed or not. Mostly or not!!

My stylist and I did talk about the weather. He said his AC had a hard time keeping up. I told him mine was the same, up to 90F. He was shocked! We both think there is something odd going on. I have mentioned that here and there is never a response. Suddenly extra deaf. Hmmm.

¡¡¡Finalmente!!! ¡¡Lluvia!!

Saqué a Nico durante la noche. Y vi un rayo! Y había una brisa fresca. Entonces cuando me levanté esta mañana y estaba lloviendo. ¡Asombroso! Las aplicaciones meteorológicas dijeron que hoy sería 102F. Sólo llegó a los 80 superiores. Aún muy húmedo, pero la casa se quedó en 80F. Qué shock.

Fuimos a almorzar con mi hija. Por supuesto que estábamos en Jalisco's. Estaban muy ocupados! N y yo tuvimos una buena visita. Estoy tan agradecido y feliz que está de vuelta en mi vida.

Lo más extraño ha sucedido. Tenía una tiro de cortisona en mi rodilla. Desde que mis manos no han tenido ningún dolor. Extraño. Pero estoy feliz. Es agradable dormir sin dolor. Una bendición.

Tuve un día especial en mi matrimonio hoy. Nuestro aniversario. Se olvidó el año pasado. Esperaba lo mismo este año. Sí. Ni mención, ni cena, ni flores, ni nada. Podría mencionarlo, pero luego se obliga a comer fuera y conducir después de oscurecer. Más fácil y menos estrés en mí para dejar que se deslice.

Finally!!! Rain!!

I took Nico out during the night. And I saw lightning! And there was a cool breeze. Then when I got up this morning and it was raining. Amazing! The weather apps all said it would be 102F today. Only made it to the upper 80s. Still very humid but the house stayed at 80F. What a shock.

Went to lunch with my daughter. Of course we were at Jalisco's. They were really busy!! N and I had a good visit. I am so grateful and happy she is back in my life.

The oddest thing has happened. Had a cortisone shot in my knee. Ever since my hands have not had had any pain. Weird. But I am happy. Nice to sleep without pain. A blessing. 

Had a special day in my marriage today. Our anniversary. He forgot last year. I expected the same this year. Yes. No mention, no dinner out, no flowers, no nothing. I could mention it but then he forces himself to eat out and drive after dark. Easier and less stress on me to just let it slide.
