07 april, 2022 Wandering

    Today was a better day than yesterday.  Not perfect but ok.  Still super strong winds but no fires here today.  Some firemen from Kansas are in Oklahoma helping fight a large fire there.  Good we can help.

    We are in a severe drought here but not the worst.  There are 2 degrees worse than us.  SW Kansas has the worst.

    Spring must be here.  I have a couple of dandelions in my yard and some blooming weeds.  One branch on my pear tree has some blooms just on the tip of it.  Barely has leaves budding out let alone flowers.  Maybe it will not bloom this year.  Even my dandelions are late.  I have 3 iris plants growing.  I thought they were dead.  No sign of my peony bushes.  Dang.  Will have to have someone plant new ones for me.

    I did get my new tire this afternoon but too late to go out to eat.  JS sent me a photo from Jalisco's.  A friend is there from NY.  I knew she was coming here but never heard from her when.  Hope I get to see her before she flies home.

    I called where I get my car cared for & ordered 3 more new tires.  Might as well so they are all the same age.  And scheduled an oil change.  The guy I go to is the best.  He always has time for me.  And is very nice.

    This cold front has done lots of damage to my body.  I got used to having no pain & boy did that come to a screeching halt.  My back hurts, a knee, even my big toe on my left foot.  That is new.

    After 30 some hours of no sleep I slept perfectly last night.  And tried to nap today but I mostly just rested.  I feel quite human!!

    I had planned on taking trash out today but not in these winds.  Hate these wind.

    I looked in Flickr last night.  I do not do much in it but that will change.  I found some cool photos I can share here.  Photos from my stay in Guthrie OK.  I need to go back.  Nice town & good places to eat.  Antigue shops to browse in.  In front of each old building is a metal sign telling what that building originally was, when it was built & by who.  I need some time away from here.  Board my kids out & relax.

06 april, 2022 Wandering

    Today was an awful day that never got better.  Well, a little better.  I did not think the blowout last night on my way home.  I never felt upset.  The car drove normal until I got the warning and stopped.  But I must have been upset at least inside.    

    I slept not one wink last night.   None.  Nothing helped.  I finally gave up at 10am.  Ate lunch then.  Laid down again at 1pm.  Another joke.  No sleep.  Hope tonight is better.

    I cancelled all of today.  I hate driving with my spare tire.  Really makes me nervous.  My nephew rescued me last night.  He tried to air up my tire at his house but it is ruined.  So odd.  It had been fine and no problem with it.  Then suddenly it has no air.

    My new tire arrives tomorrow and when KN can get it when they call and put it on my car.  Not decided if I will go out to eat tomorrow or not.  Depends on my sleeping tonight.

    High winds today.  East of Denver they had a 116mph winds.  It blew a semi over and all other semis stopped.  You would not have to ask me twice.  I have been in a semi in bad weather/mud/etc.  Scary.

    Had a big fire south of Eldorado today.  Luckily only pasture land.  No one or any homes were touched.  Oklahoma has a huge fire of thousands of acres.  We have lost are tornados and gained fires and wind.  Maybe better, maybe not.  And it gives me something to write about instead of just my whining.

    While watching the news tonight there was suddenly a huge fire near the studio at the Coleman factory.  It looked massive.  Many fire trucks and no one dared get near.  There were constant explosions.  It was a truck with propane canisters loaded that somehow caught fire.  No one was hurt and they managed it better than I thought they would!

    Kansas has brought in many fire departments from nearby states to just be here in case of a dire emergency.  Smart thinking.

    I shared more than I usually do on FB and hardly anyone noticed.  Makes me want to quit but I have friends in other countries I keep in touch with.  And a near neighbour likes many things I post.  Oh well.  Such is life.  But I will share things I like.  Ignore away all!

    Photos are recent ones in the last couple of years.  The photo with 2 photos were taken a day apart.  Big change.  I need to feed the birds again.  I miss seeing them.

                    

5 april, 2022 Wandering

    What a day!!  Warm most of the day and calm winds.  Sun was out early but this afternoon it got cloudy.  I left for town around 420pm.  And there was a huge gust of the north wind.  Meant the cold front had arrived.  And a chance of showers.  Not too cold yet.

    JR and I ate at the Crown & Rye.  I had a gift certificate.  I ordered what I liked.  Either they have changed how they fix it or I forgot to tell them no sauce.  It was just ok.  The french fries are the best anywhere.  I scarfed them up.  And I had a snickerdoodle for dessert.

    Going home I was around half way there.  I heard a sort of loud POP like I ran over something metal.  Then I got a warning on my dashboard that a tired needed air.  I was afraid that was what I had heard.  I have controls on my dash of different parts of my car.  Pulled up tires.  A back one was at 0 instead of 38.  I pulled off the road onto a side road.  I called my nephew.  He came and put on my spare tire.  He will take my tire in to be fixed.  But there is no fixing.  Need a new tire.  I will stay home for a couple of days.  If I am lucky I will get a new tire tomorrow or thursday.  Now I wish I had a second car.  Can I afford one?  Something to think about.

    We are now in a fire warning due to high winds.  Love high winds.  They are never ending.

April 4, 2022 Wandering

    Home again.  I have no energy.  And after my nap my hands were swollen and stiff.  And my left knee is painful.  I enjoyed the few painfree days that I had.

    Nice weather today.  Up in the 60s and no wind.  Love the calm days.  But on wednesday we are in a fire watch due to high winds.  Again.

    I have donated to a group called Kiva for a long time.  I was behind on placing money on someone's needs.  The least you can donate is $25.  You pick who gets it.  People there from many different countries and jobs.  Once they pay it back you pick someone else to donate it too.

    I had lots of cattle near my home today.  They seem to be enjoying the nice weather.  Nephew was no where around so they all were quiet!

    Not seen or talked to anyone.  That makes for a boring blog.  Sorry.

    Photos are flowers from another year.  A dala horse from my town.  Correct name is Dalahäst.  The Indian carvings are made by an artist that was at the Red Barn.  That room was full of carvings.  He used a chain saw.  And another guy smoothed them out.

                        

02, april 2022 Wandering

    It was an ok day.  Poor sleep so I stayed home.  Tired but no sleep.  I did sleep some this afternoon.  Not as long as I wanted.  But the house was chilly.  I keep the heat off at night so the house cools off.  With no aC yet, I do what I can to feel comfy.

    Watching the Grammys tonight.  I love Jon Batiste.  He is up for 11 Grammys.  Cool.  Anxious to see how he does.  And they are in Vegas.  I long to be there!  Sad for me.  I most likely will never be there again.

    Fairly calm today.  Lots of cows by my house again.  Early today my nephew was feeding them hay a ways off.  They were really singing and following him!  And he drives my husband's truck.  Bittersweet to see.  But I like it.

    I had things I planned to do today but just no energy.  Do it tomorrow.

    Nico is a dog with a time schedule.  Supper is any time after 5pm.  And he will bug me until I eat while he is hoping for a bite or two.  And after supper he NEEDS a treat.  And bugs me until I get up.  Had his treat and is now sleeping.  Around 9pm it is people food treat.  Even if only one bite.  And he has a bedtime.  But there are tv shows I like late at night so he will bug me for a while.

    Not much else to write.  Boring day being tired.  Photo are from the art show I worked at.  Except for the sunflower.  I try to add one daily but sometimes I forget.

                

Saturday, 02, april 2022 Wandering

    Sort of a quiet, boring day.  Home alone all day.  And more tired than usual.  Who knows why?

    Weather is quiet, warm.  I had cattle by my driveway all day.  Love when they are near.  Especially the little ones.

    Sat outside & there were lots of birds flying around and singing.  While out the yard got really dark!  A turkey vulture flew over & very low.  Just soaring on the breeze.  Love watching them flying.  So graceful for a vulture.

    This afternoon there was a very loud crash outside.  I think it was at the neighbour's.  Sounded like something metal dropped from a high distance.  Got my fur kids all curious!

    My spanish is going so well.  This lesson so far is sort of easy.  I am sure it is to lure me into a false sense of security!!  But they are speaking sentences & I have to write what I hear.  Cannot see anything other than I can go normal speed or slow speed.  Doing good on those.  You have to be in the top 10 to move on.  I am not.  When I am I will work until done.

    Warmer tomorrow with high winds.  Again.  Tired of wind.  At night it is ok so I can have my porch light on without being attacked.

    Photos today are some older art show photos.  The photo of me with & Indian is from an art show years ago.  The Indian is wood & was created with a chain saw.  Wished I could have bought him.  The newspaper article is me & a friend at an art show ---- many years ago!  Great memory.  The round building was Ling Auditorium that was on our local college campus.  Burned down before I was born.  Painting is mine & was done by a close friend.  The 2 gold carvings are mine also.

                    

Tuesday, 01, april 2022 Wandering

    Had a busy & fun day!  I sometimes I am asked to sit in the SVAFC --- Smoky Valley Art & Folklife Center.  Right now there is an exhibit that happens every Easter.  People from my town share art they own by people/artists from this area.  They have also moved to a new to them location.  So today I worked for 2 hours.  I photographed all the art --- just for my appreciation & to share.  I have no real duties --- have visitors sign the guest book, if someone buys something to write up a bill of sale.  I just love sitting there & meeting people.  We are a tourist town so one never knows where people are from.  A good afternoon.  Today only 2 ladies came in.  Some of my photos are of some of the art.

    At home I had 2 huge packages on the porch.  One was labeled FRAGILE.  Someone could not read.  It was the worst packaged Pepsi & it had been tossed around.  One can was badly dented & swollen.  The other one was something I ordered but it said from Sams Club.  Both of these were Amazon orders.  Odd.

    Back in to town for supper at Jalisco's with JR & PM.  PM & I got to talking of the past & people we both knew.  He even knew the friend that my husband went to basic training with.  What memories!!

    Stayed longer than usual.  Paying for it at home with Nico.  He is just continually begging for god knows what.  A quiet evening is not happening.

    When I got home I saw a turkey vulture in one of the trees they roost in.  Only one.  First one I have seen anywhere.  Cool!
