Wandering, 11 december 2021

Well, survived the huge cold front and snow storm that arrived last night.  Got pretty cold and not a flake of snow.  Waaay out in western Kansas there was snow but nary a hint here.  I am glad I do not have to listen that forecast again.  Now for a warm up.  Tired of too warm weather for here.  People are all excited and do not realise it is not good.  Climate change is good for no one.

This afternoon I worked a couple of hours at the SVAFC, an art show location.  (Smoky Valley Art and Folklife Center)  It was a slow day.  But I was able to take pictures of the art.  Nice to sit in there and watch people.  Busy town.  Even a tour bus in town.

In my town we celebrated St. Lucia.  The 4th graders had their own Lucia this morning  Then early afternoon the high school had another Lucia.  After there was hot tea and ginger cookies and Swedish dancing on the church lawn.  Down town there was a horse drawn carriage you could pay to ride in.  I would love to ride in it but I was alone.  Of course.  But they were to watch.  And hear the bells chiming!  See my town here:  https://www.lindsborgcity.org/   It should list all our festivals.

Tonight there is an Old Fashioned Christmas at the Old Mill tonight.  All sorts of activity around the Mill, old town, and Swedish Pavillon.  You can check out the Old Mill here:  https://www.mcphersoncountyks.us/20/Old-Mill-Museum

I had planned to park behind Jalisco's today, but I actually found a parking place in front.  Nice for a change when the town is busy.

I rarely go to anything in town.  No fun to go alone.  JR is always walking around taking photos.  One time a friend from South Africa was here just to attend a festival before he flew home.  He picked this day.  We started early in the morning and watched all the Lucia crownings, had a spaghetti dinner at church,  watched all the dancing with tea and cookies, then went to the Old Mill and took it all in.  To top off the day, we went to the college and saw the Nutcracker ballet.  What an awesome day.  I sure miss him.  Great guy!

Photos are Christmas themed and one of Lucia but not from my town.
