23 april, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Got really cold last night.  I saw 26F early today.  No wind so it did not feel bad outside.  I am grateful!

    I was awake all night until this morning.  That cancelled most of my plans today.  Oh well.  I doubt anyone missed me!!

    Cinder was in the house & in the bed most of the night.  And all afternoon.  She is a joy.

    JR & I ate at Pizza Hut tonight.  Excellent pizza!!  Beef, bacon, extra cheese!!  Love it!  Nice evening!  Until home........

    Nico is up to no good tonight.  He made a horrible mess.  Some is cleaned up.  Will do it after writing this.

    I am watching A Man Called Otto.  I have seen a different version of it a long time ago.  Think it was a little different.  So far this one is pretty good.  Will try not to cry.  I suspect I will.

22 april, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Just home today.  No plans.  Kind of cloudy outside but no strong winds.  Cold coming tonight.  Nice for a change.  Today was a day to recuperate.  Just to catch my breath.

    Nico has been good today.  Have one small trash can that he quietly emptied.  Silly dog!

    I have Nico figured out.  He is just like Calvin of Calvin & Hobbes.  Nico will just push my buttons to upset me & to stop him or get back what he is chewing on I will give him a cookie.  When I am not here, he gets into nothing.  I should change his name to Calvin!!

    I sat outside several times with the fur kids.  I should be outside with them now but I rented a movie, The Fablemans.  It is as good as I thought it would be.

    Tonight in town it is the high school prom.  Fancy evening dresses for the girls.  They have it in a convention center in town.  Each couple walks in & photos are taken.  It is a big deal.  I could have driven to town to watch but I do not know any of the kids anymore.  JR is taking photos there tonight.  No need to go to sit alone.

    JS has sent photos today.  They are going to a dinner theater.  So much fun.  I used to go to one in Kansas City.  I should plan to do that again.  The have a buffet before the play & dessert at intermission.  Great food.  Miss going there.

21 april, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    I had a good day.  Except I had a water leak in my bathroom.  Called my nephew KN & he came over & figured out what it might be.  And now there is no leak!!!  Great!!  I was waiting for things costing lots of money!! I expected him working all afternoon but not here more than 15 minutes here.  So I got a nice nap!!

    JR & I ate at Jalisco's for supper.  They were busy early.  But it was not noisy.  One lady at the next table said Hello & called me by my name.  I have no idea who she was.  But I figured out where she is from so I am sure I know her.  I am terrible with names.  Always have been.

    Nice weather today.  Calm & a bit cooler.  Wind came up for a short time.  Nice tonight again.  Cold coming & snow??

    JS & I video chatted tonight.  Good to see him & talk to him.  Had a good talk.  Talked & saw SM too.  Good to see him too!

20 april, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Today was a great day!  I did not sleep well but it was because of stormy weather with a half inch of rain.  Winds sounded worse here than they were.  I was relieved after taking Nico outside.  Was hoping for more rain, but I will take a half inch anytime.  I dozed before 6am & slept after then.  So I needed a nap.  And for once it was a really restful, calm time.  Nico must have spring fever.  He is so calm.  Very odd.

    There was a tornado NE of us.  No one hurt/died & the town not totally devasted.  That town has a historic court house & it is ok  It is gorgeous!  Want to visit sometime.

    I have been trying to sign up to my propane company's website.  I finally called for help.  And paid my bill over the phone.  THEN I figured out what I was doing wrong & all went well.  I prefer to pay bills online.  Easier.  Paper bills get misplaced.

    Cinder is enjoying the nice temps.  Even the wind does not bother her.  She was out part of the night but came in before the rain.  She would have been ok.  Porch never got wet.  She has been in & out today.

    I had my left over Swedish pancakes for lunch.  Butter & sugar make a big difference.  And bacon & lingonberries.  Very good.  I plan to buy just the pancakes to take home.  Then fix them how my dad & I always ate them.  We ate our pancakes with butter & sugar only.  Must be a regional thing in Sweden.  Not all Swedes eat them that way.  My mom only used butter & syrup.  Sooo wrong! 😊  We teased her!

    A while ago I bought a cooking dish to make pasta in the microwave.  Got brave & tried it.  Perfect.  Five minutes on high & I have pasta.  I need to heat some sauce too or they get too dry.  That was supper today.  I cannot find things that even sound good but these did today.

    Sat out off and on today.  Nico did not even seem to enjoy being out.  Hope he is ok.  His eating is ok but soo relaxed.  Odd.

    I got asked to work at the SVAFC in a few days.  Hope I can.  I really miss being there.

    On both sides of the approximately 40-metre long fish market hall, the sales counters are lined up with a huge range of freshly caught fish, shellfish and crustaceans as well as prepared dishes and ready-to-eat snacks.

    There is also a restaurant.  I did get to walk through it but late in the day.  They were getting ready to close.  But very cool.

                    

19 april, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    A good day today.  Slept well without any ill feelings.  Always worry  though.  Up early as it was a work day!  Glad to be there.

    I worried about eating lunch but although I had no appetite, I ate.  No problems.

    Work was good.  I am at the end of the one room school house photos.  Wonder what I do next.  I found 3 extra schools that had no numbers.  Never heard of them.  Interesting.  I enjoy the photos & will miss them.  Did see one teacher's name with the same last name as my grandma.  Looked it up.  They are sisters. Not used to her using her maiden name!  She was around 20 years old.  Never knew her that young.

    JR & I were going to eat Mexican for supper but did not think my tummy would tolerate it.  Went to the Crown & Rye for Swedish pancakes.  They were sooo good but I just could not eat.  Took them home.  Ate maybe one of the 3 I was served.  I thought bedtime snack.  Nope.  They will keep until lunch tomorrow.

    Much calmer wind today.  That 50mph wind yesterday & all night got sooo old.  Cooler weather approaching.  Below freezing in a day or so.  Then rain on monday, tuesday, & wednesday.  Really???  One can dream!

    Photos are all at the Old Mill except the last one is a crown ceiling light where we ate.  The Mill is preparing for a big festival call Millfest!  There will over 500 kids on our property going to areas of learning or fun.  We assign who goes where.  And the groups can request or opt out for areas.  Big job to do all that!!!  And that weekend the mill is turned on.  People can walk through all 3 floors of it to watch.  There is an age limit because of danger.  My father's stepfather worked in there & Dad hauled flour to Topeka KS.  The grounds are looking sooo pretty.  Lots of flowers & more to come.  Even feels festive!!

                        

 

18 april, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Sorry for no blogging.  I’m not well and I need to visit the doctor soon.  Became very ill sunday morning.  Could not eat all day.  I have known for a long time that I have gall stones & a hernia.  Should have had surgery a long time ago but too scared & I had no symptoms.  Sorry now.  Yesterday I could eat some.  And today also.  Still do not feel normal.  Will call the doctor when I am sure I can actually leave the house.

    We have had ok weather.  Even got an inch of rain last saturday.  Bad winds today.  My screen door is broken & I cannot keep is shut.  It is driving Nico crazy.  And then he is really being awful to me.  No one seems to be able to fix it so I am stuck.  Very upsetting.

    I spent a little time adding photos to my genealogy software.  Nice to see faces of family!!

    Hoping to get back to work this week.  See how it goes.  Photos are ones that I have taken of flowers, etc.

                    

15 april, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Last night was great!!!  We had a long thunderstorm!  Lots of lightning & thunder.  And and inch of rain.  What a blessing.  I was awake a lot just to enjoy the storm!  But it was just one storm.  Does not mean our chances of moisture has changed.

    Cinder stayed out side & then it started to rain.  I called her to come in but she did not.  She was hiding on the porch & then crawled in her favorite box.  The rain just blew in it.  The next time we were out she was not happy.  She sure "talked" to me & was the first one in the door!

    It was chilly today.  I liked it.  We were supposed to have more rain today & the radar showed it was just west of us, but nothing fell here.  Tonight it might be in the 30s.  Great!

    Nico woke me from my afternoon nap so although I was up, I was not thinking.  We got to the door & I let him out ---- with no leash.  Sigh.  I just sat outside to watch.  He went out by the cows.  And barked & ran at them.  He only goes up to their ankles but he was sure brave!!  Silly dog.  Then he explored some of the back yard & finally came to the porch & ready to come in.

    I did nothing special today.  I am more tired than usual.  No idea why.

14 april, 2023 Wandering & Capturing Moments

    Today did not go as I planned.  But that was a good thing.  Got up, had lunch, & watched all my soap operas.  Then lay down to rest.

    JR planned to take photos at a high school track meet.  No supper planned.  But we have severe weather warnings & it kept sounding worse so JR decided to forget photos.  We went to Jalisco's instead.

    One of our workers is returning to Mexico in a few weeks.  I will sure miss him.  He always greets me with a smile, a hand shake, & friendly words.  Today there was a new guy there.  I was introduced.  He is quiet, of course.  New there.  But he had a ready smile.  Hope he is nice.

    During supper JS & I video chatted.  I let his friends there see him & wave.  He thought maybe he knew our new guy but he does not.  Good to chat.

    Storms to the west of us.  Just got a warning about some strong storms on the way.  Believe it when I see it.  I even turned my rain gauge upright.  Cinder went back out.  Hope she stays close.  Rain would be so wonderful.  I can dream.
