Quarantine Day 36

I was reading a book last night. I now know I am the Queen of my own dominion. Unfortunately I have no royal consort or even a court jester. Whatever life throws at me, I must handle alone. Hardly seems fair for a Queen!

I thought about my life after retiring for the night. I can remember when there were such good times! We had many friends, or at least Willie had lots of friends. Oh the fun we had! But life changes and so do people. Be fun to go back. And for many years Willie drove a cattle truck or grain truck. I loved riding with him. I even drove a couple of times. I miss our co-drivers. We had a lot of laughs. I am glad he had fun all his life and good friends.

Nico sees the vet tomorrow. Their lobby is closed so they do curbside service. Interesting to see how that works. Does Nico go in. Does Dr come out to talk to me. Report tomorrow. He needed his nails cut and I think he has allergies. Next week will get Kisse in.

Had a long call from a friend. Fun to chat. I wish her well. She has a lot going on in her life.

Warm weather with rain forecast for midweek.

Watching Murdoch Mysteries again. Beats anything on the local channels. Right now it is an episode on behind the scenes. Nice to see the "real people"! And found all the stars are on Instagram, and the show, and the network. One of the few joys of being isolated for 36 days.

Photos are just local things. Not taken just recently. But not much changes.

Livin' the dream.

The fantasy continues.

Quarantine Day 35

Really warm today. Pleasant. Sat outside a couple of times. Nico has to roll in the grass and sometimes lays on his back in the sun!

Poor sleep as usual. I really do not care anymore. Just mention it to fill some space up.

My brother and I went to Jalisco's today. Had flautas, arroz, frijoles, and a side of sour cream. And our usual Pepsis with tequila. Ha. They always say that but I have yet to taste any tequila!! Guess I could bring my own! A friend parked next to us. It was really nice to see her. Had a short visit.

Had a video call from my bestie. He was getting ready to go to another town. He came and said hi to us. Nice to see him. So rare and the visits are always too brief. Then back to my isolation.

Lots of cattle here when I got home. Will miss them when they leave for the summer.

Kisse actually slept on my stomach last night. Very nice. Maybe we both need some extra attention. Really hard to come by lately. I envy those who have large families or a large support group of friends. Not jealous, just wishing.

Need to see if I can get Nico's nails trimmed and have then see if he has allergies. He constantly chews on his feet. Next Kisse needs shots and surgery. Hope that slows her down a bit.

Quarantine Day 34

I have little to say again. I picked a poor time to start blogging again. Time goes on. Sometimes slow, sometimes faster. Not much changes out here.

I see all the fun things that people come up with to do in town, whether mine or elsewhere. But in the middle of nowhere nothing happens.

Weather was ok. Breezy. Warmish.

Have the special on tv with all the superstars.  It is so-so. Too many I have no clue who they are. Not really making me feel better. Should watch something else. Some of the songs make me feel worse. Now they are talking about how isolation affects one. I know all too well. I do not think talking to anyone will make a difference. It is what it is.

Fur kids ok today. Except Kisse never slept on me last night. Odd. I missed her. Nico is always close to me. Where I go he goes. Nice that he cares. But he never reacts if I cry. I start to cry and Kisse runs to me.

All photos are mine and old.

Quarantine Day 33

It is hard to believe. Been in quarantine for 33 days. Far too long but no other choice.

Slept fair last night. We had snow overnight. Not much but early this morning it was beautiful on the green grass. Rain first though. Had about half an inch in my rain gauge.

My brother and I ate at Jalisco's. They were extremely busy. Wow! Good to see. I tried to call 3x and could not get through. When I finally did they called me by name. We went in to get our order and there were 4 other people ahead of us. I am very happy for them.

Nothing else. More tomorrow.

Quarantine Day 32

Another quiet day. Never changes. Nephew drove through. We waved. Sick cow is better.

From my yard everywhere I look I can see wheat growing. Not too tall yet. This is the first year in my life I have not had any wheat. I remember all those many harvests. Willie was much like his father. Both were well liked and loved to joke and be with friends. When he became ill his friends gathered helped so much. Several visited him in the hospital. Their emotions were intense. They immediately rounded up my cattle and sold them. They helped with my farm sale. And when it was time to harvest Willie's last field of wheat, they were all there for him. I have no words to express how I feel. He was lucky to have such great friends. I hope he knew that. I always take harvest photos. Not this year. Maybe just what I see as I drive to town. Won't be the same.

We got a shower this morning sometime. I missed it. Rain south of us but doubt it comes this way. Chance of snow here tonight. Ha. I won't hold my breath. Not too cold last night or today.

I thought I lost my sense of humor a while back but I was wrong. Now it is gone. The normal FB jokes just come across as stupid. I have no interest. Sick to death of politics. Everyday things get worse. Some honesty would be appreciated. Some empathy would be really nice. Guess I am expecting too much of those dead inside.

When outside today I heard our crows. Long time since I heard them. Did not see them though. I was under a roof.

None of the photos are mine. Just some Swedish stuff.

Quarantine Day 31

A quiet day but of pain. Change in the weather. Both shoulders/upper arms and both hands. I had plans today but I cancelled. Too much pain to do anything.

Yesterday I had nausea after eating. Better today but had a little nausea. It is just always something.

It is beautiful outside. Sat outside with Nico a couple of times. And just now to visit with my nephew and grand nephew. He has a sick cow here. She got a shot.

No other contact with anyone. Makes my day harder. But I took a nap. I no longer care if I sleep at night or not.

Nico is hanging on me. It is past his meal time. He starts bugging me around 5pm. He seems to think he is in charge here. Ha. But he could be right!

Colder tomorrow with rain/snow. They are wrong too often lately so I just ignore. I am sure we will get nothing. We could use a bit of rain. I do love snow but I imagine it is time for it to quit.

Quarantine Day 30

Too quiet of a day. Slept so-so. Cold night but warmer day. Cloudy but no rain. Only took a short nap.

I picked up my groceries. Only one item was replaced. No problem. Just nice to take a short drive. And nothing too heavy to carry in the house.

Only took a short nap.

My brother is going to come out this week. I am doing his laundry and he will carry my trash out and pack it in the bins. Not sure what day. May wait a day or so.

Did not feel well today. Nausea. Seems there is always something. Since I am home all the time, does not matter.

My bestie video chatted with me after he was done with work. Always good. I miss seeing him.

I am still reeling about a childhood friend who verbally attacked me this week. Does not seem like him. Maybe he has gone off the deep end. Possible with some of the things he has recently posted. Very sad. Still hurts.

Top photo is from a museum in my town. Bottom photos are of my dog during my nap and my supper beverage.

Quarantine Day 29

A better day today. Yesterday was awful and that is all I am saying. No one wants to hear me whine. Very cold last night and should be again tonight. But was warmer today. And little wind. That is a blessing.

Sleep was illusive. I am sure I have my days and nights switched. I slept late today but no nap. So far doing well.

I picked my brother up and we ate Mexican. Extra good good tonite. Nice to be out of the house. And to park and people watch.

Talked with 2 friends on the phone. Nice to hear their voices. So rare for me. Helped one get her supper!!

After supper I drove a little and took photos. First photos are in town. And old bridge and an old flour mill that is now a museum. Once a year they turn it on. They used to mill some wheat but such a mess to clean up they gave that up. And there is an age requirement. Cannot be too young. It is very dangerous so small children are forbidden.

Bottom photos are a tiny flower in my driveway and sunset from my backyard.

Anecdote about the mill. My grandfather worked there. Always lots of flour on the floors. One worker was very paranoid about a child getting in and hurt. His coworkers had a couple of kid's shoes on sticks. They made it look like a child was walking inside the mill. That poor man went crazy trying to find the child. His coworkers hid and laughed. Kind of funny and kind of not. But history.

Quarantine Day 28

A quiet day. Gale force winds. And very cold temps. In the 30s  most of he day. When I got up it was 64 in my house. I never had the heat on all night. Took a while to get comfortable inside. After all the hubbub yesterday about severe storms and winter storms, we got nothing. Not a drop of rain nor flake of snow within 100 miles or more. I ignore the weather most of the time. Of course the just could not be wrong about the wind. Hate it.

I have a very old shed behind my house. It has an old metal roof. When the wind is just right, the metal lifts up and drops loudly. The first time that happened I thought Big Foot was out there wrecking the shed!

No kind of celebration here. Rarely celebrated Easter. When I was young, I always got a fancy new Easter outfit. But that was it. No special meal because Mom always had to get ready to sing in a chorus. My Easter dinner was waffles. No need to fix just for me. Waste of time.

Did not sleep well last night as usual. A new tradition, I guess.

My brother and I were going to go eat tonight but just too cold. Will try tomorrow.

I try to be in a good mood but isolation is getting to me. I tried to call my bestie but he is apparently talking to someone else. Maybe he will call later. Might try another friend later or just do without.

My arm is less sore. No idea why. But my knee is worse. A shame they both cannot be pain free at the same time.

I might have to call my therapist. My depression is getting worse. They are saying even when things are "normal" people may still have trouble. I had trouble before so I assume that can happen.

Hope everyone had a nice Easter with friends/family and stayed home. There were several churches in Kansas that held services. So all those people will spread the virus and keep us in homes longer. They do not get it.

First photo is my neighbor's barn. My fave. I take lots of photos of it. The last photos are memories of when I could eat in Jalisco's. They are bittersweet.

Quarantine Day 27

It was in OK day but way too warm. I finally had to turn on the AC. Was almost 80 in here. I am completely in my "I hate summer" mode. Found a tick on me. Gross. Then I put flea/tick killer on Nico. He was not going to have it. Had to tease him with a small piece of candy. He still tried to bite me but I was successful. Then he barricaded himself in the bedroom for a while. He did force himself to come out for supper. And now snuggled close to me.

TV sucks again tonite. BUT. SNL is new tonight.

I learned last night that only certain people can post what they want on FB. A friend --- since childhood --- read me the riot act. And gave me ORDERS what to do. Fat chance!!! Guess he does not know me too well! I had a friend who stood up for me and told him to quit. A nice moment! Every one is entitled to their own opinions. I have never once criticized him. Lesson learned.

I was supposed to pick up my groceries but I lost my time slot. I figured out what I did. Now I get them monday at 5pm. I sure there is at least one person calling it Karma for not shopping locally!! hahaha

We are in severe weather watch through tonight. Storms are not east of me but more later. Then tomorrow into monday we have cold and winter storm alert. Gotta love Kansas weather!!

Kisse is in one of her windows watching some large bug fly. Her head is really swinging! She did escape this afternoon. Luckily I got her before she could run all the porch!

The photos at the end of this are memories from the past with wonderful Swedish people!

Quarantine Day 26

Great day! Nice to say that!

Our Swedish group was to call whoever this morning. How surprised that I got 3 calls. Nice to hear voices. And to share!

Weather was a little cooler. I liked it. Sat our with Nico for a couple of times.

I picked up Jay. We planned to eat pizza but when we read that Jalisco is closed on Sunday we changed our plans. Had Mexican food tonight. And it was a constant stream of customers while we sat and ate. Good to see. Important we support our local businesses. A friend came near my car so we chatted. Miguel hand delivered his meal. We all got to joke a bit. Best moment!

Jay and I drove around town. Then to the cemetery and around Emerald Lake. Just nice. Relaxing.

I was chided for where I shop. I was not asked why I chose not to shop local. Well, I would but where I go has a couple of things I cannot get in town. Sorry. Always check the facts.

Big weather change this weekend. Ok on saturday. But that night and sunday rain/ice/snow/cold is forecast. And cooler next week. I like cooler weather so it is all good. Anything is better than hot and humid. I miss my husband but not missing feeding a harvest crew. The dirt, heat, humidity always made me feel sick.

The water tower in town has many turkey vultures. I enjoy watching them. But the city just cannot leave well enough alone. Nothing scared them off last year but here they are wasting time again. And causing lots of noise. Lucky neighbors. Live and let live.

I am back in Toronto 1900. Love the Murdoch Mysteries. Have half of it watched.
